Booo, no digital version.
Pls Phil, I'll buy it when it's digital.

Yeah, I'm happy for those that own the disc, but as an all-digital guy...I'm disappointed they couldn't get this up day-and-date with the BC announcement.

Mass Effect Day is next Monday - November 7th.
#NeoGaf-Believe

The only thing you should believe in is that you'll have the opportunity to buy them again as a remastered package.

How 'bout we split the difference and EA releases it on BC...but treats it like the DLC - which (almost) never is put on sale.

(But yes, I would throw money at EA for a proper trilogy remaster.)

This is an issue with many multi-disc games and I would imagine is something they are working to fix as we speak (type).

Yea I'm sure it will happen soon, Phil did say he wanted to bring all BC games to a digital release as well.

Is Nier Automata actually labelled exclusive for PS4? If it's only a timed exclusive maybe we will see them both out at the same time.
I don't think it's exclusive rather I'm pretty sure Square Enix doesn't see much sales potential on the Xbox One sadly. It's one of the games that is making me consider a PS4 honestly... I don't think it will hinder the chances of the first game becoming BC.

Now on to Skate, Phil.

9 November is the one year anniversary that the game (and the Bioshock series) was announced as "on the way". http://news.xbox.com/2015/11/09/introducing-your-first-104-xbox-one-backward-compatibility-games/

On a more positive note, by my count from the Xbox One Compatible game list, we are now at 274 titles, up from 104 released a year ago. Not bad for a years work. (And we've still got two days to announce more; Thursday and next Tuesday)

The way Spencer talks about Blue Dragon and Lost Oddesy, even before BC was a thing, makes me think that they did the work and need to sort out some business before they can actually charge money for them.

More than likely. I can't see them never putting the game up on the store after doing the work. This way people with older copies or who wanna splurge can get them now, while everyone else can wait and buy them once they're digital.

Yeah I got a RdR and COD3 patch recently, I wonder what they did to them.. I wish Microsoft would post changelogs or something.

Likely legally they can make them digital only if there is a disc check, because then it's just like installing the game on your drive, which you can do. To SELL them again they'd need an agreement.

I just played it for a while to make sure. Worked fine for me. I saw people having issues with it earlier in the thread too.

did you buy guwange on day 1? I bought it on day 1 but my purchase history only traces back to nov 2013, MS refuses to acknowledge this issue. All the purchase history I made prior to nov 2013 are gone in my account. I can still download it on my. It let me download on xbone but won't let me run the game.

Is Blue Dragon live yet? I am having issues getting the download to initiate.

Hoping we see Infinite Undiscovery and/or Dragon's Dogma soon.
Are you using disc #1? My discs were in reverse order in the box from back in the day, and without looking put disc #3 in the One. I was waiting a while for the update to push until I realized my mistake.

Probably going to give Rage a shot tonight and see how it handles. I remember the game handling shockingly awesome when it launched. Shooting felt amazing.

I was playing Rage yesterday, but gave up on it because of an audio glitch. When I'd walk around, it seemed like the footstep sounds would cause the audio to crakcle and cut out completely for a little bit, then come back. Extremely annoying. It wouldn't happen when I was driving, or even if I got around by jumping, but just walking, running, or even crouch walking would kill the audio.

This happen to anyone else?

Yeah, I just doubled checked; I'm using disc one. It shows up as Blue Dragon and the status is "Installation stopped." When I try to download, it goes up to queued for a split second, then kicks back to installation stopped. I thought it was a service thing, but other people are apparently downloading already so...

Got mine downloading buts it's really slow......it's weird. Pause and initiate update to a game gives me 88Mbps.....blue dragon is capped at like....10 and it hasn't changed. It's like a separate server for BC games or something lol

Edit: omg.....the cable to my external was a tad loose.....and just realized the light wasn't on.....the thing was basically downloading in a low power mode lol

In case anyone is having trouble downloading Blue Dragon, I kept getting an error and "installation stopped" when trying to install via my games & apps. I finally got it to work by going to the game hub, then store page, then selecting install there. Even then, it gave an error initially, but it cleared after a second and started the download.

multi-disc can't be the issue. You download one file to play the current multi-disc games.

I know for a fact it is a multi-disc issue. I've seen the reasons why explained many times, here and elsewhere on the internet. I don't know the details intimately, but it has something to do with the way the 360 handled multi-disc games as separate packages or something to that effect. Basically any game that was multi-disc that eventually got a digital release, the publisher/developer had to engineer the game into a single bootable package for the game to function as it should.

I'm fairly certain the is the quick and dirty explanation, but someone else can step in and give a better one if they'd like to.

Did they ever fix Mass Effect 1? It was worse than the original in the initial Digital Foundry tests
It has been significantly improved. The last update for it was late August, but I don't think any site has done any official tests.

I started a new save a few weeks ago, and while I haven't had a chance to test it out too much, but it already feels a lot better. The citadel in particular feels a lot smoother to explore. In the 360, you would always get a ton of screen tearing, and the initial BC release had a bit of input lag. This seems to be fixed now. Combat felt a bit smoother too, and as DF noted, Mako sections perform a lot better as well.

Went digging through my 360 games I kept when I sold my 360 S to get my Xbox One and was sad to find I hadn't kept Blue Dragon.

Lo and behold, I find another stash of 3 or 4 games.

Guess what I foooooound? ;)

Wonder if Microsoft stuck to their guns on DRM if this wouldn't be an issue? Still pissed that you can't flat out install games without having a disc in the drive due to the DRM cry babies getting their way.

Pretty spot on. They would need to create a 'single disc image' version for the 360 to make it saleable, since they have to make it sellable via the original 360 interface, not the One's.

Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey also released in the era where digital 360 titles weren't a thing because Games on Demand hadn't been done yet and games weren't allowed to do the "install the other discs but use one" because Core compatibility was still required.
