Yep, see my two quoted pats below.

Being against Hillary doesn't make someone a racist. Not everyone against Hillary was necessarily FOR Trump. It's the above attitude that was a part of the problem that has caused this.
I was responding to your last sentence where you said everyone needs to stop being an asshole to people that dont share the same point of view.

I am not a Hillary supporter. I'm just an anti Trump dude and dont mind people being an asshole to those who support him.

In case any one forgot before voting, our next president is the one who actually has a court date at the end of this month for Trump University.

It's quite sad that he convinced so many people to "lock her up", yet he's the one in court for his doings

European systems are a bit different mostly. Even if Wilders get to be the largest, he needs to work with others to form a coalition. Good luck with that after he blew up the last coalition he was (unofficially) part of.

Yes, that's true. But having Wilders win elections is scary in itself to me considering the guy.

But on coalitions, isn't that also a little bit how American politics work? I mean, democrats and republicans still need to work together to get things done right?

...I know realize I know nothing of the American system..

Whether or not you see it that way, that's what it is. You either come to terms with the fact you show little to no concern for people impacted by a Trump presidency or you bite the bullet.

Racial animosity is essentially in the same spectrum.

What's done is done.
Time to stop panicking and think of the future.

Stop hating and support the new president and your country.

Welcome President Trump.

Easy to say when your life isn't on the line.

I will never support that monster, and I'm now in a position where my very life in danger in the coming months.

This sort of condescending bullshit is exactly why Trump came out on top so unexpectedly.

Snarky posts on video game forums aren't why Trump won this election. America is still a deeply racist country; Trump tapped into that historically embedded racism in a way that no American presidential candidate ever has. That's why Trump won. This isn't particularly hard. The fact that we are still tying ourselves in knots to be politically correct towards white people and pretending like this isn't what it actually is is one of the reasons Democrats lost this election.

Trump's first trip to the whitehouse to take office is going to be something else. If memory serves I think people threw eggs and rocks at Bush in '00.

It all seemed eerily similar to Brexit when I went to bed last night, and yet people laughed when I stated that.

It's frustrating how naive many here were, it really is. I learnt not to trust the opinion polls after Brexit, and I hoped others here would as well.

What a fucking nightmare we're living in.

Trump won because Americans feel entitled (thanks to years of advertising and social media), lack empathy and refuse to take responsibility for themselves and the state of the country.

Is kind of ironic but the same democracy that America was build upon is gonna end up being its downfall.

Oh well, HAIL PUTIN!

Its going to be interesting to see Obama showing/handing him the reigns. Obama is a pretty classy guy so I expect him to just suck it up and do it as professionally as possible but it will be awkward.

Baby Boomers were a mistake. Nothing but trash.
As if 40+ percent of them didn't vote for Trump. It's not a generational thing. Hell, it's barely a gender thing. If you look at the demographics, it's primarily a racial thing. The vast majority (83 percent?) of Trump's support was from whites, as he only managed about 20 to 25 percent of the total minority vote, whereas Clinton got over 70.

It was a vote against corruption though.

What can I say to convey both how disgusted and depressed I am about this?

I wish Elizabeth Warren had ran, but that's neither here nor there. I think the result might have been the same with Bernie or her in fact.

Scores of angry white men (and women, surprisingly enough) wanted to take a sharp turn right and anti elites, and minorities turnout did not compensate. Not even close.

All we can hope for now is tbat the next 4 years won't screw the country to hell and back (because 2018 is probably a lost cause).

... I honestly think this is one of the worst ways to think. I *can't* support a country that put a racist, sexist, bigot in charge. And I will *never* support him.

I'm sure I should definitely support the guy who doesn't support *anything* I stand for.

there's little reason to assume a reallocation of third party voters to major parties would result in a different winner

I'm pretty sure it would have, actually. You just have to look at some of the states with high electoral votes which Trump won that were closely fought.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/us2016/results

Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin had a relatively high percentage of third-party voters. And nation-wide, third-party votes are 3.2% up on 2012 and 3.4% up on 2008.

It's very clear that if we were looking at a 1.5-2% share of third-party votes, rather than the 4.8% that we have currently, the result could very well be different.

Yes but we live in a reality where you cant just completely change how a person thinks. People vote independent when they don't like either candidates. Both Hillary and Trump had massive unfavorables according to polls for ages so yes more people are going to vote independent than usual. This isn't anyone's fault but the Democratic Party for not grooming a strong candidate in the 8 years of an Obama presidency, and Hillary's for utterly failing to inspire your country's voters. The sooner people accept that and stop shaking their fist at the world the sooner you can begin to rebuild a viable progressive political platform for the USA.

Don't get me wrong..I know Hillary isn't overly liked, and she's had that FBI scandal shit to dampen things a lot too. I get that there are people who probably voted third-party because they didn't relate to either of the two main contenders. But I'm just saying, from a statistical perspective, it was a game-changer.

?

Games use to be R499, but are now 899 to 1200

"This follows a recent persistent disparity between retail and digital video game prices in South Africa, with Battlefield 1 being much cheaper on Origin South Africa than from any local retailer."

Maybe actually read the articles you're linking. Nothing to do with brexit.

I feel so bad for calling people who voted for this monster bigots.

Maybe in ten years, when the justices and policies he's put in place strip my rights from me they'll feel bad for me too.

Wait.

You can still be averse to what they've set forth, and you should be. They offer nothing to help themselves, you, me, or any other in a truly tangible manner. In fact, they have engaged in a clear act of self-sabotage.

But their anxiety didn't come from the heavens. We need to find a way to move forward and handle that as well, but firstly to make sure the wellbeing for LGBT, minorities, those in poverty, etc are cared for, because they are now the exposed group.

Keeping unreason of bigots in line may actually be more important right now, for Trump winning has given the perception alt-right white supremacy is a comfortable, mainstream position. The inmates of ignorance are running the asylum, and we should totally be concerned.

Makes you wonder, eh?

This whole scenario makes me feel sick. It's like a nightmare. To all minorites living in America, I'm truly sorry. This country continues its long tradition of failing you. To the rest of the world, I'm sorry for our inevitable ramp up in our contribution to climate change, as well as spitting in the faces of any immigrants looking to find better lives in the west. I can only dread the uncalculated damage we'll do to worldwide security. We've put our stamp on the wrong side of history in just about every arena imaginable.

Those quotes are talking about Trump supporters.

What do you think they're talking about?

These posts are likely directly referring to people who voted for and supported Trump. If you can find posts labeling those who simply didn't vote for Hillary as racist I'd be interested in seeing them.

But MY post that they quoted was about being anti-Hillary and yet they still chose to twist it into Pro Trump.

Again, this is a problem that needs to stop.

Do you think Trump actually thought he was going to win? I really don't think so, and he's totally shitting his pants right now. At least we have shitting our pants in common.

Only ten states (and DC) have signed it and I believe Clinton won every single one of them anyway.

It's time to accept what happened in this election.

i'm not quite there...

3 hours ago it was denial
2 hours ago is was anger
now it's a mix of bargaining (trying to bargain with anyone i know that isn't american to let me in their country) and depression (because I can't find an escape route after 5 hours of searching... yes I started searching well before it was called... and am realizing that I am going to have to deal with this horrible country for the next 4 years)

I will get to acceptance eventually.. right after I figure out how to stop hating 47.68% of the population >.>

Hopefully a bit isn't 8 years. That being said, I am very disappointed in Millenials. A huge chunk voted for Trump.

To be fair, his trade policy, and the guy not being a bought politician are fucking enticing. Its just that he's a blowhard who surrounds himself with dudes like Christie, Carson, Gingrich, and Giuliani. I don't know how people fell for that shit.

Hillary was god awful tho. Like WTF.

I think we should take the next 4 years to really think about how we best deal with this type of person. I mean, there MUST be a way to reach through to someone like him? Or is it really impossible to convince an impassioned person in a rational manner?

You don't get through to them. What we need to do is accept reality. Step back and realize that the poster you quoted was approached with rebuttals to their claims but it didn't matter. He still called the entire community crazy folks that wouldnt "look up the facts".

They don't really debate, or have any desire or intention to. Life isn't some Utopia where every person is interested in the truth or whats best for everyone. I think the only way to really 'win' is just play the numbers game. Go for pure excitement to drive people to the polls and not necessarily the person that's the most realistic or would make the best candidate. Drown those guys out and force progress with a cudgel, because those folks will never be on your side. Ever.

Trying to use reason, data and facts to persuade those people is a lost cause. They won't admit that they aren't listening to you, but they clearly aren't. They are being intentionally and willfully ignorant; and more importantly, they LOATHE you if you dare call them on it.
