Whether or not you see it that way, that's what it is. You either come to terms with the fact you show little to no concern for people impacted by a Trump presidency or you bite the bullet.

Hopefully a bit isn't 8 years. That being said, I am very disappointed in Millenials. A huge chunk voted for Trump.
Easy to say when your life isn't on the line.
I will never support that monster, and I'm now in a position where my very life in danger in the coming months.
Snarky posts on video game forums aren't why Trump won this election. America is still a deeply racist country; Trump tapped into that historically embedded racism in a way that no American presidential candidate ever has. That's why Trump won. This isn't particularly hard. The fact that we are still tying ourselves in knots to be politically correct towards white people and pretending like this isn't what it actually is is one of the reasons Democrats lost this election.

It all seemed eerily similar to Brexit when I went to bed last night, and yet people laughed when I stated that.
It's frustrating how naive many here were, it really is. I learnt not to trust the opinion polls after Brexit, and I hoped others here would as well.

As if 40+ percent of them didn't vote for Trump. It's not a generational thing. Hell, it's barely a gender thing. If you look at the demographics, it's primarily a racial thing. The vast majority (83 percent?) of Trump's support was from whites, as he only managed about 20 to 25 percent of the total minority vote, whereas Clinton got over 70.

I wish Elizabeth Warren had ran, but that's neither here nor there. I think the result might have been the same with Bernie or her in fact.
Scores of angry white men (and women, surprisingly enough) wanted to take a sharp turn right and anti elites, and minorities turnout did not compensate. Not even close.
All we can hope for now is tbat the next 4 years won't screw the country to hell and back (because 2018 is probably a lost cause).

I'm pretty sure it would have, actually. You just have to look at some of the states with high electoral votes which Trump won that were closely fought.

Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin had a relatively high percentage of third-party voters. And nation-wide, third-party votes are 3.2% up on 2012 and 3.4% up on 2008.
It's very clear that if we were looking at a 1.5-2% share of third-party votes, rather than the 4.8% that we have currently, the result could very well be different.
Don't get me wrong..I know Hillary isn't overly liked, and she's had that FBI scandal shit to dampen things a lot too. I get that there are people who probably voted third-party because they didn't relate to either of the two main contenders. But I'm just saying, from a statistical perspective, it was a game-changer.

You can still be averse to what they've set forth, and you should be. They offer nothing to help themselves, you, me, or any other in a truly tangible manner. In fact, they have engaged in a clear act of self-sabotage.
But their anxiety didn't come from the heavens. We need to find a way to move forward and handle that as well, but firstly to make sure the wellbeing for LGBT, minorities, those in poverty, etc are cared for, because they are now the exposed group.
Keeping unreason of bigots in line may actually be more important right now, for Trump winning has given the perception alt-right white supremacy is a comfortable, mainstream position. The inmates of ignorance are running the asylum, and we should totally be concerned.

This whole scenario makes me feel sick. It's like a nightmare. To all minorites living in America, I'm truly sorry. This country continues its long tradition of failing you. To the rest of the world, I'm sorry for our inevitable ramp up in our contribution to climate change, as well as spitting in the faces of any immigrants looking to find better lives in the west. I can only dread the uncalculated damage we'll do to worldwide security. We've put our stamp on the wrong side of history in just about every arena imaginable.

You don't get through to them. What we need to do is accept reality. Step back and realize that the poster you quoted was approached with rebuttals to their claims but it didn't matter. He still called the entire community crazy folks that wouldnt "look up the facts".
They don't really debate, or have any desire or intention to. Life isn't some Utopia where every person is interested in the truth or whats best for everyone. I think the only way to really 'win' is just play the numbers game. Go for pure excitement to drive people to the polls and not necessarily the person that's the most realistic or would make the best candidate. Drown those guys out and force progress with a cudgel, because those folks will never be on your side. Ever.
Trying to use reason, data and facts to persuade those people is a lost cause. They won't admit that they aren't listening to you, but they clearly aren't. They are being intentionally and willfully ignorant; and more importantly, they LOATHE you if you dare call them on it.
