Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

Shame on you GAF. Why criticize a demonstration? I mean, it's almost more a procession at this point. A way to collectively grieve and lift each other's spirits after the worst possible outcome came so unexpectedly. To me I see it as a message being sent to Trump voters that liberal ideals are not dead, just underrepresented at the moment.

You did jack shit to stop Trump and you fucking know it. You want some fucking change? Then go vote in the local elections. FFS we've lost big fucking time. Instead of wasting time protesting, we should be focusing on how to rebuild the DNC and Democratic party.

You have a bunch of people feeling energized and passionate to go protest. How the hell do you think a movement starts? With a hashtag? These same people, the people that are leading the protest right now, are the ones that probably voted. And their actions will get others to vote next time in 2018 and 2020.

You do not go quiet into the night. Not with this one.

So we're energized to protest now, the day after? And what are we protesting, democracy? Almost half of the electorate didn't vote. Cynicism and apathy got us President Trump. Have fun I guess.

fuck people like this guy

Sad that none of these protestors listened to Hillary and Obama's message today about the beauty of America's democracy. The war is over. Trump is our president elect. We must accept this and unify in order to get things done and be one.

Screw that! Trump is a racist piece of shit that profiteered off the dreams of people trying to better themselves (Trump University).

Fuck him and his loathsomeness.

The tea party movement did the same thing. What are we supposed to do, sit with our thumbs in our asses and accept it? No. We revitalize the left and take the midterm. Protesting is part of that.

Protests like these evidence a liberal spirit that otherwise would go unseen. They are crucial.

Good. Let's have these protests as much as possible. I only wish I was there myself.

smh @ yall jokers going "Oh but what's the point we should just lie down and take this" we gotta send a message, that message being "No, we the american people are not, nor do we represent this fascist oompa loompa" and to show those who are scared out of their fucking minds that they are not alone, we'll keep on fighting till the end, and we won't kowtow to the clowns responsible for Trump's rise to power, nor will we undo all these years of progress.

no wonder Right galvanized itself into a YUGE win.

Left is too busy being a bunch of pussies and arguing with itself on the correct way to protest.

Wait, really? I was not in the US then (and was a small child), so I thought he lost due to the Florida votes and the state swinging entirely for GWB.

Well then, all but once!

Edit: No, this isn't what I meant, on further reading. I meant that EC reps have never voted against the vote of their constituents but they are most certainly able to go against the grain.

I mean, I get the sentiment and all. Trump is vile and the whole thing is depressing and dangerous. But what is this gonna prove?

Too little too fucking late. Stay pissed and fucking vote next time in the midterms in 2 years.

PROTEST ONLY WHEN IT'S CONVENIENT TO OTHER PEOPLE

DONT MAKE ME THINK ABOUT ISSUES BECAUSE THAT'S HARD

like a fucking snake eating its tail. pisses me right the fuck off

Protest season will be in full effect during a Trump presidency. Protests during Obamas presidency is just a precursor. Stay safe because the govt will absolutely have full support for the police

The harping on popular vote is funny. If the objective was popular vote the outcome would be different. In states which lean far towards one side the turnout of the opposite side is low because the outcome is a foregone conclusion. It's like a team losing a football game but complaining it should be overturned because they gained more yards.

I mean, it's funny because Trump did the exact same thing, whining like a little bitch, when Obama won in 2012. (Trump was also wrong then)

Sustained organization and protests are exactly how the tea party and republicans took the country from the ground up.

They rallied around candidates at the local levels, put people in Congress, and shifted the party away from the Bush and Romney types.

GTFO with these "go home, you lost" comments.

Trump is dangerously incompetent, and to easily provoked to be president.

I agree...and yet he won. People were rightfully critical of Trump saying he'd only accept the outcome of the election if he won. But not accepting the outcome because the candidate you favoured lost is just sinking down to his level.

The places where these protests are popping up all voted Democrat heavily, so at least we can't fault them for that.

Alot of people are saying we won't have unity with this president. Why don't we wait and let him get to office and see how it works, not giving them a chance is showing opposition to even see their official offer.

This will breed more problems. Trump won the electoral college vote, while not the popular vote he is still legitimate and has been designated as such by the present administration.

Regardless of whether or not you want him, we'll have him for the next four (and maybe 8 if he actually does positive things) years.

FUCK WAITING. If a movement like this doesn't happen and gain momentum people won't even be interested enough in politics to even notice when things continue to go in the shitter.

People who think this will do nothing have too narrow of a view and foresight onto how powerful this can become.

ACCEPT IT GAF. This is exactly what this country needs.

Now we get motivated. Every single Democrat who didn't vote, for anyone, should just leave the party. At least we would have a better gauge of who gives a fuck. In past elections I wouldn't care. A person like Trump and all three branches of government GOP controlled and that didn't scare Democrats out of the woodwork? WTF do you even stand for anymore?

I wouldn't be pissed off if turnout was record highs. In the end apathy ruled the day. Congratulations you played right into the only thing that would have saved Republicans.

i dont see anyone here who is not accepting the result. they are simply exercising their right to gather and be heard. don't diminish our first amendment rights.

6 million less democrats voted than the last presidential election I'm hearing. Against what Trump represented? Jesus! This election is embarrassing in so many ways. IMO these demonstrations just continues the embarrassment.
