700 series is not HDR compatible.
The review I read mentioned an update allowing for HDR10.
Is this not the case even with a firmware update? Or is it some sort not fake HDR?

From what I've read and seen on TV forums, is if you force your TV to have hdr on at all times it basically thinks it's not doing something right and puts all the colors on blast. Just plug your ps4 into HDMI ports 2 or 3, on your TV goto settings>external inputs> and turn on enhanced inputs, then goto your ps4s video options and make sure everything is set to auto. The ps4 and TV will work together and do the rest. It also doesn't translate to screenshots because your TV is blowing it's color load not your console. So I should keep HDR mode ON under settings, correct? It even changes the look of PS2 classics and the like to be much brighter.
It apparently also doesn't translate into PSN screenshots.

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x700dNorwegian site, but does anyone know if this is decent? It says HDR.

It has HDR after the update. It's not the best implementation of it but its definitely there. I have the 49" model and have seen first hand.
It's poor mans HDR and not proper implementation. To get full HDR10 you need a 10 bit screen and a wide color gamut.
Just use the Automatic setting and it detects the highest quality compatible output for both SDR and HDR games on this TV.So...for the PRO, i didn't really change any settings as the default. but i am reading that to sue the HDR10 i should be using the YUV setting instead of RGB? this accurate? and if so, do i need to change the setting between SDR and HDR games? I hope i can just leave it on one setting and be done.
First Light looked amazing tho in RGB. I didn't really notice any banding, but i was not looking closely or nitpicking.
Deep Colour is colour depths with a billion or more colours starting with 30bit (10bit per channel) which is required for HDR without banding.I'm even more convinced that the Deep Colour setting is the cause of banding with HDR on Samsung TV's as there has been an issue with Panasonic DMP-UB900 4K Blu Ray players doing the same thing - turning off Deep Colour (Which isn't needed for HDR or 4K Blu Rays as its 12-bit) fixes the banding issue on the Panasonic DMP-UB900.

Me. Everything set to automatic but haven't played a HDR game yet. This is what i wanted to hear. Thanks!
Anyone else enjoying their X800D with the PRO? can't wait to try some more games later tomorrow.

Might replay Uncharted....
Thanks for the feedback. Seems like I might be better off going for the Sony Bravia KD49XD8077, KD49XD8077 or KD49XD8088 which I think might be the UK/European equivalents of the TV mentioned in this thread.
Depends. What size are you eyeing? If you can live with a VA panel, the XBR43X800D (43") has a better static contrast ratio than the XBR55X930D (55") but you lose local dimming and higher peak brightness. If you're considering the XBR49X800D, it'll probably be an IPS panel with much lower static contrast ratio but less saturation loss at an angle. I'd get the XBR43X800D if you want less input lag and better comparable picture quality at a cheaper price than the XBR55X930D.Play something with HDR please - would like some impressions. Looking at this or an XD93 and would be good to not spend 50% more unless necessary![]()
Does anyone know if X8500D is the same model in Australia?
X8000D are the same model as the X800D, I've got the 49 inch IPS set and a friend has the 43 inch VA

I turned deep colour off on the Tv.
Do I need to turn it on for HDR?
This may sound silly but is there a way to know the TV is displaying a HDR picture?
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01IW6532I/Is there no european version of this tv? I cannot find it on amazon.de
Oh that's useful thank youPosted these images several pages back. If you press display, you should be able to see what resolution you are on. If you press action menu and HDR is auto, you should see the HDR logo show like in the picture below.
Does anyone use Live colour on the tv options? I had it off but when I turned it on to medium the colours look amazing... but surely there's a downside?

Every time I boot up the PS4 I am having audio lag and still have to go into audio settings and change from Dolby then back to PCM in order to get sync.
Can anyone confirm if this is the UK version?
Sony Bravia KD43XD8088 43-Inch Android 4K HDR Ultra HD Smart TV (2016 Model) with TRILUMINOS Display, PlayStation Now, Google Cast - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01HM7JPMW/
It's 300 cheaper right now
Yeh I'm gonna keep it on... when I put Uncharted in and started to play with HDR on... the system appeared to mute my colours and the game looked a bit washed out. Even the PlayStation system menu went washed out ... when I ejected the Uncharted disc my screen went black and came back on and I was back to a nice rich blue system colour.I keep it on high. No issues here or drops that i can notice. Been playing U4 and First Light. I also keep it on my computer setting and XB1S. I just like vibrant colors tho. Without it it can look muted unless you mess around with the colors directly.
Yes that's the one I bought for 620 quid last week :roll eyes: lol

Does it have a 10 bit panel?
OP says 10 bit, display specifications website says 8
Yes. The triluminous display signifies it has a wide color gamut as well. Anything labeled X80--D means it is the X800D equivalent.

Rtings say it has a 10 bit panel.Ordered

No, anything labeled XD80xx is a X800D equivalent.
X80--D is a different series.
Ordered

I messed up in how I was writing it but corrected it immediately. Anytime you see X and D and 8 and 0, it is the X800D series. A 7 means it is the 7 series without the triluminous wide color gamut and 10 bit panel etc. An 8 and 5 signified it is the X850D.
So no matter which UK naming you have, if it says XD80, X80D, XD8088 it is the X800D. The sizes only come in 43" and 49" for the X800D.
So I've ordered a good'un?
Yeah you've ordered the correct version.
Excellent thanks man, would be lost without folk on here.
Maybe this isn't as a big deal to others, but the androidOS on this and presumably other Sony TVs is fucking insanse. I am beyond impressed. I'm still considering returning it for the KS8000 but man, idk that'd I want to give these features up. Why the hell doesn't Sony use this on the PlayStation line of products?
