KS8000 settings for gaming at 4k/HDR

No worries; appreciate the suggestion.

It's actually "a little too red" in all modes, both when gaming and when watching video content. I guess the obvious choice would be to adjust that R/G Tint option but everything I've seen has left that at 50/50 and I have very little knowledge on how that particular setting actually works.

The wow disc made me change mine a few notches at most.

You can always get a calibration disc if you want.

I find it kind of odd to see someone complaining about tv issues and needing to take it back but you have dc on killing the image anyways? Strange.

Will test my xb1 hdr stuff tonight on the forza horizon 2 demo. I believe it has it.

Sadly WoW disc is outrageously priced these days. All you need is the proper blue filter to adjust the color tint, at least on a very rudimentary level. More important is the luminance, which can be done by eye with the set up disc.

I don't know what's wrong with my eyes but I really don't find HDR compelling at all.

Maybe your settings are off? HDR it incredibly noticable and brings a lot of life to the visuals in brightness of lights to details in things like clouds.

Are you playing something like uncharted or ratchet?

I think you have me confused with someone else? I always default to dynamic contrast off. My issue (just a few posts up) is that with the exact same settings, my new 65" is a little too red vis a vis the 55" I've had for the last week.

Just got my 3.5mm to Optical converter and now I got my speakers working. Problem is, the TV volume control doesn't work. I can set it to 0 or max and my speakers stay the same volume. I have to change the speaker volume manually.

I was able to get the Samsung remote to sync up and turn power off for my Marantz receiver but beyond that I have no clue how to use it.
Still, it seems possible.

There's an option in the settings called samsung universal remote or something like that. When you go there, it will ask you about your receiver's brand and to point the TV remote at your receiver and try the buttons.

44 inches. Mines in a 49 inch table and I wouldn't want any smaller as it only leaves a couple incest a side

9 inches apart if you mean each foot from each other.

I think you can also install the legs inward, so they distance would be smaller but I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone confirm?

Got the 55" last night and my fucking god what a clusterfuck nightmare trying to replace it on the mount where I had my 10 yr old 50" Samsung Plasma.

The problem is..you need M8 screws that are probably 45-50mm in length. The bolts holding my Plasma were M8 and 35mm so they weren't long enough to get past the spacers to secure it to the TV.

So I ran to Wal-Mart, Lowes, and finally Best Buy trying to find M8 screws of sufficient length and no luck at all. The guy at Best Buy told me to either sand, grind, or saw the spacers in half as that's typically what they have to do because most mounting system don't come with M8 screws that are long enough. Turns out he was right because I went back to Wal-Mart and opened 3 different brands of mounting systems looking for M8 screws of sufficient size and there weren't any. They were all 35mm. So after 3 hours of trying to figure this out, I ordered both M8 45mm and M8 50mm screws off Amazon.com and I guess I have to wait a few days in order to use my new TV. I'm not going to fuck with trying to shrink the size of the spacers because that sounds like it could be a disaster if you don't get them all exactly even and hope you don't crack or outright break them.

Definitely don't do this, the manual specifically tells you not to.

The 65" needs at least 52" of width to accommodate the stand (distance between the feet at the widest point, so realistically, 54" or so is needed)

My old TV stand didn't cut it. I picked up a $200 stand at Costco (tried to find a link to it but they don't have it on their website) with a built-in post mount and am very happy with it (now that i'm past the hassle of dragging it inside and assembling it) as I've mounted the ks8000 on it and ditched the feet.

This tv the samsung KS6000 does not have hdr10, it was some type of HDR.

The HDR of this TV does not make any difference ? Or improve games that use HDR function like uncharted 4? I know its not HDR10 like other tvs but does it make a difference in some games ?

http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ku6300 the tv is this

You cant expect it to perform hdr as well as high end tvs because this model does not have wcg. Still nice 4k res and colors for the price though.

For the 55" it was 43mm-45mm. I got Panhead 45mm M8's.

Holy shit... Wtf. He may have been trying to be helpful but why would you ever recommend that to a customer lol.

Home Depot. Lowe's. Hardware store. That's terrible advice by the Best Buy associate.

I got 50 mm for the 65 inch. Fit perfectly.

So far I've played a bunch of UHD Blu-rays, along with Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3, Uncharted 4, and inFAMOUS.

I flipped between HDR mode on each of them and honestly the difference is pretty negligible to me. It's better on some content than others but often comes at a sacrifice for overall average image brightness (presumably to accommodate for the higher brightness peaks).

Same with movies. I thought it was pretty nice on Batman vs. Superman but The Martian just looks awful—incredibly dark and dull.

As for settings, just Game Mode defaults—brightness 20, contrast 100, brightness 45.

What content are you watching with hdr? The hdr chess demo is awesome with hdr. If that video doesnt impress you, than hdr probably isn't for you.

Yeah I need more demos I can do side-by-side with! Where can I see this?

For the 65, 45mm M8 was long enough for me. The stand I bought gave me ~38mm ones. Got them at Home Depot. Also had to cut about 1/4" off the spacers (included with stand, not TV) for the bottom two holes, as they are that much deeper. The 45 fit perfectly in the upper two with the spacers, unmodified.

For anyone that has bolts that fit but are the wrong length, just take one with you to HD or Lowes. They have a screw fitting board thing where you can confirm the exact one you need.

The chess, wonderland, journey of color, and sony camp are pretty awesome.

I haven't watched the martian on uhd, but i watched the revanent and i thought the lighting in that movie look really good.

Compared to the other leds I've owned in the past, this tv destroys them. My plasma still looks very good, but when it comes to highlights, like the sun reflecting off water, it looks good, but not as good compared to the ks8000.

IMax I would reccomend going through my post on first page telling if you have anything different.

You have settings on auto on ps4 etc?

I just can't explain anybody seeing hdr and not liking it. I've found it a bigger upgrade than the resolution stuff to be honest (in games)

Mind you I fucked with settings for a week straight and used a calibration disc.

Just got line hooked up and shit. What was that thing about in the PS4 to have it pick the setting in 4K that wasn't RGB due to bandwidth limitations and to force 10bit colors or something. It was Yuv or something?

Just go auto. Unless you have a reciever or something in between auto will work with no issue.

Wat ?

Also I'm starting to think the 55" being $300 more for me makes the 49" sound just fine. Other TVs in the house here are around 49" and they look huge compared to my current 32" I've been using for games. If it was just 100 more I'd probably do it, but 300 I don't know.

What's the color standard for games, not going lie warm2 is rather......interesting for gaming while for movies and stuff it's fine.

Warm 1 seems to give me actual whites instead of a yellow hue for gaming

has anyone payed any fps's on the ks8000 like destiny cod or games like that. I am wondering how the input lag feels. On my old vizio which supposdly had good input i think they broke it with to many updates and I swear I am behind 1 too 2 seconds in frames. For instance I have a vizio sound bar that well not work with the tv's remote which is strange. It worked 2 times with the controller and both times they broke it with a update. My tv didnt have a game setting at the start it does now.

Played tf2 yesterday. Was kicking ass as usual. This wasnt in game mode either.

I have a 6290 not an 8000, but for HDR it looks best if I crank the backlight to max (20) and then lower brightness to where it looks good (around 35.)

I don't know why it made a big difference for me but it did. I also use dynamic contrast even though everyone says not to. I also use Warm 1.

when you got killed you didnt notice you weren't were you died but futher back 1 or 2 frames. Like sometimes I get killed around corners but when replay cam shows my death im out in open. That could also be because im in Hawaii. But my connect is quit good like I was downloading my mame rom set at 40 to 60 megs a sec the other day. So im thinking its my tv. I seriously considering this tv.

Blah. Turns out the reason I can't control my speaker volume from my TV volume control is due to Samsung's incompetence. They simply don't do variable audio output. This is annoying since my speakers only have analogue volume dials. My PS4 and laptop audio ranges don't match up at all so I have to adjust it every time I switch.

Took a couple pictures while playing Infinite Warfare.

It's hard to appreciate it though in a picture of the screen

so I have been using it for a week now, I am completely satisfied with this.

Yes the black levels aren't that spectacular, but that was expected.

The OS is pretty fluid and fast.

4k/HDR content is spectacular. I have tried Netflix, YouTube both. Have been playing Gears 4 a lot too. Now I need to buy a UHD disk but fucking too expensive. Waiting for Planet Earth 2. That will be day 1 no matter what the price is.

I've had mine for just under a week now. A 65inch and am completely satisfied. My most recent settings chance is adjusting the gamma to -1. That seems to help define the blacks much better.

Not sure if you watched it, but i think theres a video called "grand teton park" or something like that. It looks good for a youtube video.

haha yes, in fact that's the first video I watched when I got the TV. Someone here recommended :) That and Costa Rica 4K. Amazing.

But there are two other my personal favorite
1). GoPro Hero 5 Launch video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlDzYIIOYmM)
2). World in HDR (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO01J-M3g0U)

like if you have not seen it yet, just watch it NOW.

Anybody rocking PC mode instead of game mode on their KS8000? I've always had my previous Samsung TV's in PC mode and they always looked great to me but I wonder if HDR will take a hit in that mode.

There was a discussion on this. Warm2 is the standard.

If you flip between the two it absolutely looks yellow. There is no doubt. That's just the way it's supposed to look.

U tried.with warm1 and certain things didn't look right so went right back to warm2

Can anybody please tell me.

What is better DTS or DOLBY Digital

My reciever thing supports both and I've never known which one to use.

I like DTS, seems to give my speakers a deeper punch.
