Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

I think this is what we got realistically. The top portion is probably smaller due to linearity I'm assuming.

Why are you disappointed that marketing lied to you when it was extremely obvious that it was a lie?

If it's incredibly obvious to even a layperson with no experience in game development that it was impossible, why on earth did Square-Enix, the only people who actually knew the status of the project think it was possible?

Highly unlikely.

Ah, I was trying to avoid mentioning that, since I don't want to start another shitstorm, but here it goes. I finished the game in a total of 25 hours. Admittedly, I didn't do much of the side content, and I was rushing a little bit since I have midterms next week, but I did a few (reached Rank 4 in hunts), and never skipped a dialogue or a cutscene.

I'm sure of one thing, it's not a 50 hours for main story like Tabata has claimed.

I thought you were reviewing it for a site, or am I mixing you with another gaffer? Anyway, Can't remember how many bosses were in the game (and not sure what exactly qualify as a boss, some are very strong monesters, others have their own parry animations and little set-pieces), but there was a good amount, then there's the hunts.

Didn't encounter any ultimate weapons, didn't even get the whole royal arms set, there's a few tombs for me to find out later. I plan to dig into the post game content soon, but not in the next few days. I can see myself playing the game for a hundred hours more.

Not much of the city itself, but there's a very lengthy (and amazingly creepy) dungeon.

Also, you can make Young Noctis wear the king's suit, and he's rocking it.

Did you use fast travel? I feel like riding in the car everywhere plus doing side quests probably makes the game much longer.

Story seems good from what I've gleaned in this thread. VERY dark, pulling no punches, but with a spiritual quality to buoy the apocalyptic desolation that befalls the world. Noctis loses pretty much everything along the way. I'll have to try the full game in context to fully appreciate what works and what doesn't, though.

Seems some people are hung up on the more grounded nature of the final battle. Ardyn is such a great character and design, though, so I can't fault him staying "human." And the second phase of the fight where they're flying through the skies like Neo and Agent Smith in the final battle of Matrix 3 is pretty awesome. The abandoned city creates a lonely backdrop for the battle that seems thematically fitting. I like the aesthetic of black buildings and bright lights.

Main thing I need to see, in context, is whether the fates of Noctis' bros feels appropriate.

Good to see that the consensus is the gameplay is excellent, from the towns and dungeons to the combat and questing.

Highly unlikely.

fine with me. I fall apart after forty hours, especially a with such emphasize on action. Barely see me play a shooter over 10 hours.

Now, I have a couple friends reviewing it. I WISH I was!

You'll be happy to know there's a bunch of optional bosses and dungeons.

Did you use fast travel? I feel like riding in the car everywhere plus doing side quests probably makes the game much longer.

Yeah I used fast travel, If I didn't I think my playtime would be longer by two to three hours.

Two things I want to know:

Does that Cosmonogy book come up in the game?

Does the Platinum demo in some form play out in the main game?

Thanks.

It comes a lot, you find verses of it in many locations.

The platinum demo is its own thing.

How's the dungeons in this game? Are they all like caves and mines, or are there any other more interesting ones with puzzles or unique environments?

I think the game has easily the best dungeons in the series. Even the mines/caves differs from each other with unique environmental hazards and traps. There're few which have different look (factories, ice caves, underwater temples). A few has some basic puzzles.

One more question if you don't mind, is Aranea Bahamut?

lol no.

What the hell am I looking at in this Leviathan boss fight.

Please take Final Fantasy away from the hack responsible for Type 0.

Praise be to 4chan leaker.

She does some magic before you see her for the last time then Noctis goes super saiyan and you warp around and shoot leviathan like you're playin Zone of the Enders.

Then you do some god of war shit without there being any blood(it's water) and they talk while looking like children in one of those Gundam like scenes where everything is in a certain color, she tells him she's always with him and fades away, Noctis wakes up in a bed after some time.

The only thing Luna ever beats is her chest.

Hey at least the discord bot rates her over Stella.

hey

fist beats scissors but loses to paper

doesn't mean fist isn't strong

But what if everyone you face only uses paper?
Fists becomes useless in that meta,
So we have to wonder should the RPS designers make changes? Or are we fine with a game where only scissors shine and fists only role is showing how strong paper is?

I'm sorry. I'm sure fist will have good moments.

I don't see the game reviewing better than 8s honestly.

While there are many good sections it also is quite flawed. Narration (not story),dialogue, linear last part, astral bosses, camera are the worst part of the game.

Anyway I don't know if there is someone who already knows this, but Summons are Six:Titan,Ramuh,Leviathan,Shiva,Bahamut,Ifrit. There is a trophy to obtain all the Six.

Astrals can be summoned contextually and they are available to be summoned randomly, you have no choice on when and which Astral you can summon.

It's interesting how the few people so far who have actually played the final game seem to be generally positive about it as a whole, while those who are looking at spoilers and excerpted videos seem to be generally negative on the game as a whole.

You just need to look at the kind of posts that are right above yours to see what kind of thread this is. This is not the place for a level headed discussion of the game.

Wait till you see the Review Thread. It's going to be a bloodbath.

My experience with spoiler threads before the release of highly anticipated games is that they tend to be filled with early streams which focus on rushing through the story to allow people to see all the major beats and the ending, and those which focus on bugs and other hilarious things which would make for good memes. These are the two things which will get you the highest volume in terms of views and link redirects. So it naturally follows that the sort of discussion anyone can have from such content is limited to the vibe originally generated from the source.

It's not really surprising, this is the spoiler thread. Most folks who are interested in the game won't come here before they're finished with the game, I'd even go as far as saying that I'm sure a lot of people who have posted in this thread are here more or less only to shit on the game.

e: and what duckroll said, of course.

I don't think they considered whether or not it was possible. I think they got overambitious, with little experience in open world game design and development, and they planned out some general stuff on paper. Made a nice clay mold.

And then when they actually had to develop the game they realized they couldn't do it at the scale they thought they could.

I studied game development, and I follow gaming news in general. I didn't play Asscreed or GTA or Red Dead or Skyrim or Fallout. (Okay, I played like 2 hours of Asscreed 2.) I just think that if you are looking, genuinely looking at something other than just the threads of the games you're really excited about, the past eight years or so you can see lots of studios closing down. You can see games get delayed. You can see disappointment from overhyped games. You can see the scope and ambitions of developers, and you can see how they are often limited by technology, time, budget, and manpower. You see the open world trend and you see the discussions critiquing how it is done in a wide variety of games.

It's not hard to pay attention to something other than Square or FF or KH. If you can see the wider picture, you wouldn't be that guy thinking that FF15 will actually sell more than FF13 in Japan, where the industry has pivoted to mobile the past few years.

It's not wrong to be excited about a game. But after FF13, I thought people would be more careful and doubt what SE's devs say.

:(.

It was the biggest cockblock in my entire life.

You go there, you see it in the background, get super excited, few mins later you discover that the game won't allow you to leave the train station. Tenebrae is just a (very beautiful) background in this game.
I had a feeling this would happen.

Don't forget the Tabata shitposting!
