To be fair, Magneto's a legacy character. They obviously don't want to piss off fans who played the character in previous games. The new characters in UMVC3 are all much more accurate.

It's like with Smash Bros., really. Some characters in Smash 4 like Samus or Ganondorf have 'dated' and simplistic moveset designs in comparison to the newcomers in that game like Villager, Ryu, Little Mac or Mega Man because Sakurai doesn't want to alienate the people who played those characters in previous games, for better or worse.

My concern is that even if Marvel allows Capcom to use Fox characters, it'll only be limited to the bare essentials (the rumors were that Marvel may ease up on the ban, not completely lift it, though that may have been a wording choice of whoever on ComicsGAF told me about it). There's still a bunch of MCU characters that Marvel would want to advertise.

Trust me, I really wanted to squeeze in Cyclops (maybe Young Cyclops to have most of the Champions in the game).

Masamune was on the short list of "just didn't make the cut" for both TvC and MvC3, if I recall. If they finally budge on the rumored "no historical chars" rule, I could see him fitting in just fine. And who knows, maybe it would help make BASARA a thing in the West again, so they could feel up to try again with Sengoku BASARA 5 in another year or so.

...even though my heart of hearts would rather see Nobunaga, the Demon King, finally getting a chance to fight Dante or Dormmamu, for himself. His Style Switch moveset from the SB3 era on up would be awesome to see rendered in a fighter.

For example, look at Bayonetta in Smash 4 before she got nerfed. Totally accurate to her source material...but she was an absolute nightmare to play against.

If Capcom's gonna go full movie pandering as a result of no Fox, Wanda may be off the table. Though I suppose if Travelers Tales was able to convince Marvel to let them use Pietro & Wanda, maybe Capcom may have a shot if the worst-case scenario happens.

I don't think Marvel's made a special case for anyone outside of the Maximoff Twins. As mentioned earlier, we haven't seen Wolverine in a post-CoC game in almost 2 years (same for Doom). This is why I'm hoping Capcom negotiated after Marvel's change-of-heart.

Falcon - Possible, but he's a B-lister even within the films, so unlikely; Winter Soldier probably would get the Cap secondary char slot before him

We continue to remain skeptical at the moment considering the recent news from Capcom saying that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is not in development.

Maximilian has produced a video, (included below) in which he takes a closer look at the situation, pointing out multiple reasons as to why he feels the images are not legitimate.

Despite all this, there's a chance that MvC4 could still be on the way. The brightest glimmer of hope comes from the fact that NeoGAF user Ryce has declared a reveal at PlayStation Experience.
In his post Ryce stated, "a few other GAFers and myself were told about a Marvel vs. Capcom 4 announcement at PSX." Ryce has built a bit of a reputation for releasing info about other games that has held up, but even he expresses skepticism over this info.

This very well could be an attempt by fans of the Marvel series in an attempt to promote enough hype to urge Capcom toward producing another iteration for the iconic series.
