Nah, it's all the same as the OP. The sky just seems a bit more blue and the faces of the characters a little bit more red. It could be intentional and I'm just paranoid.

Have you checked your eco settings? Updates tend to reset them. I don't have the game. I just know from being in this thread forevor that 1 small thing like eco settings can mess with your settings.
I'm watching black mirror on netflix 4k and it sure looks great.
On hdmi sources like ps4 yes.
Netflix will auto put backlight up to 20 on you.

Ah ok I tried Marco Polo and the light went to 18 so imagine that was working OK. I don't think I have any HDR PS4 games. I have tried Titanfall 2, Skyrim and Watchdogs 2
Do you have last of us or uncharted 4?
The backlight should have went to 20.
Daredevil s1 (not 2) also has hdr
I have Deus Ex so am going to try that I think that's HDR

When playing an HDR PS4 game, press the middle button on the TV controller to bring up the top toolbar, and below the resolution it should say "UHD" and "HDR".

As it says in the Op for hdr you need to turn backlight to 20 on your own when in game mode for hdr stuff.
Just tried Deus Ex and it came up HDR but it doesn't on Amazon and Netflix. Not that impressive to be honest hopefully it gets better down the line for games when Devs plan for it
Netflix needs to be on tv app.
Hdr is very impressive on tlou and uc4. I've heard great things about ratchet.

Just realised I'm on a EPP in the UK but the range is horrid and the prices even worse. No KS7000 either. Might keep an eye out but it would be cheaper buying from practically anywhere else with what they offer currently.

OK I think I'm going to bite the bullet on the 65KS9000(There are reasons for getting it over the 8000).
Anyways since it is very similar to the 8000 I have a few questions regarding the general functionality of the TV.
Firstly how long does it take to turn on and be able to change inputs?
My Sony TV allows me to change inputs pretty much as soon as it's switched on, which works great with my Harmony remote.
The whole issue with having to change the backlight settings on game mode when HDR is enabled and disabled. Will this still be a problem if game mode is permanently enabled on an input?

Yeah I was on the TV app. Oh well suppose I just expected too much.
It's incredibly dependent on the source. New tech so some stuff isn't as good.
Some people have claimed the youtube hdr stuff will blow your socks off but I'm not sure what firmware you need to be on to get that. Might have to update your tv via USB.

It turns on pretty much instantly from standby. Harmony user here and everything works fine. Make sure to disable CEC on any devices you don't need it for as it will inevitably mess with Harmony control.
Yes, that is still an issue as of the latest firmware update. Basically, game mode does not offer separate picture settings for SDR and HDR content. Contrary to what others are repeating, HDR does not just crank up backlight automatically to 20, but to whatever setting you choose for HDR content (20 just being the default).
Related question: How are some of you finding your panel type (AA01, FF01 etc.)?

Don't know if this has been brought up already but - has anyone else with an EU KS8000 (UE49KS8000TXXU) noticed that Samsung posted a firmware update about a week or two ago to firmware 1150. They've apparently recalled it and the latest version available on the site now is back to 1142

I've watched both Marco Polo and Man in the high castle in HDR and they honestly don't look all that different. FFXV it's a lot apparent though..

Will the 75-inch version ever be considerable cheaper? In the distant future? 75-models seem comically expensive for relatively few inches over the 60 and 65 counterparts across many TV Sets.

I have the 75" , we wanted a bigger tv and were willing to splurge. Not cost effective in anyway, but that's besides the point.
75" will never be cheaper due to cost of manufacturing and volumes. 60"-65" pricing has been relatively consistent over the years so don't expect 75" to get cheaper by much.
You may get one on sale when it is being discontinued but there is no incetive for shops to sell them cheap when someone will buy the big tvs (which typically have lower stock levels).

Backlight at 20 is not an absolute must for HDR, it comes down to preference and viewing environment. Backlight at 14 still gives you a brightness peak of 1000 nits but with better blacks and reduces the the local dimming issues.
For content mastered at 1000 nits i would argue that calibrating peak brightnes to that could be advised in the same way SDR is calibrated to 100-120 nits

I think if your in Europe you cant use the update. Only if your in USA.

It's even harder with films, as I tried out Mad Max 4K and thought "Well shit, this looks good in almost all the presets". I need material where I can more clearly see if something is too bright, too dark, too saturated, etc.
Also, how is Dynamic Contrast on the other non-Dynamic picture modes? Some presets like Movie Mode seems to handle it a lot better without that torch mode effect people mentioned earlier. Standard also still looks really impressive and balanced, but again, I need to continue testing out more media before I can really settle on something.

Add me to the list of people who are disappointed with HDR. 4K is spectacular but HDR is hard to notice so far. In Uncharted 4, I could definitely see a difference when I turned it off and on, but when it was on it just looked like I remembered it. It didn't look like something that couldn't be done before, just like a slightly better calibrated image. Idk. I feel like maybe it's a subtle thing. It enhances the content in ways you may not notice but if it were absent you would be less impressed in ways you can't quantify.

Goddammit, I can't get the Amazon Prime app to work. I just finished setting up my KS7090 and wanted to check out the Grand Tour in HDR. The app simply doesn't start
I'm on firmware 1142 and can't update.
I've just received a reply from Samsung UK support on Twitter regarding me not being able to install the Amazon app and they have said it appears the provider may have decided to remove the app from the Smart Hub?
This cannot be the case surely?

I think you may be expecting the wrong things. When people think HDR they think of those a bit unnatural but fancy looking photos or the "HDR" effects in old games so when you don't get colors that "pop" you feel like you are not getting a big difference.
The thing is that HDR is supposed to just allow more color detail to be shown on screen. Not oversaturated colors. I think it makes a very noticeable difference in the games I've tried them in. Especially Uncharted looks so much nicer and subtly detailed.

Yeah. Even 4k isn't all that impressive to me. If I take a PC game and put all the bells and whistles on at 1080p that looks better than the sacrifice it takes to get it to render at 4k.

It's awesome so far. No issues on the panel like clouding or anything else.
We went from a 60" Sammy Plasma (which broke but Costco refunded) and our room set up means that we are a good 10feet away from the tv. So bigger TV was needed. I was worried about blacks but it has been a non issue.
Its great watching movies and games and my wife loves it (which was key in buying it),
HDR in Gears 4 was great and moving onto FFXV tonight

Check out multiplayer mode in Uncharted 4. I think HDR stands out more there even on my H8C with weaker HDR. But in general mixed impressions of HDR is what is reassuring me that I can wait few years for OLED.

Also the jeep level really shows the difference. In non-HDR mode it is brighter, but the whites are really blown out. One look at the sun and sky really shows it.
In HDR mode the same level looks a bit more subdued (with less pop to it) but the sky/sun is no longer has blown out whites and has a smoother gradient/transition.
In my opinion (using PS4, Xbox One S, and Netflix) HDR can seem underwhelming. You expect more saturation/pop but instead it makes for a more natural appearance. Almost the opposite of what you expect it to be all about.

I see some of you questioning how good HDR is, well I'm here to put those thoughts to rest. I posted this last week. You can download these files, put them on a USB and play them through the TV. The HDR effect in these demo's is mindblowing.

Played a few hours of Final Fantasy XV last night in HDR mode. manually changed backlight to 20 and Smart LED to High. Looked pretty good. Wasn't sure what to expect. Light sources were really bright, but Tomb Raider was like that too without HDR. I think the thing I noticed most was light on objects looked better. Like, the way sunlight coming through a window looked on an object it was hitting in an otherwise dim room. Might play with it off today so I can understand the difference better.
My new panel is really a huge improvement over my old one. I'm starting to notice the edge light though. Objectively, it's barely there, but my eyes keep going to it. This tiny, half millimeter boarder of light around my screen that can only be seen on certain colors. This is my first edgelit TV, so I'm not used to it. I'm still happy with this TV, but I think I'll go for a backlit one next time in 7 to 10 years or so.

Ok, so now I am officially baffled. As I have mentioned in this thread I had difficulty getting RGB/4:4:4 output from my PC with various cables. The latest being I changed the cable to a 7m (~23 feet) high speed one but was still having the same issues.
I decided to just try swapping HDMI ports as a final test and lo and behold, with my PC connected to HDMI 1 on the One Connect box I get full 4K @ 60 RGB, 4:4:4 or 4:2:0. Connected my PS4 Pro to HDMI 2 and HDR works with that just fine too.
Either HDMI 1 has some special magic to it or my cable is in the right position in relation to the cosmos or something was slightly loose. I still had an issue where Nvidia Control Panel showed only 59 Hz for lower resolutions like 1440p but I added custom resolutions and it suggested 60 Hz for all so I added those.
Does anyone have a decent explanation why it works properly now? Don't seem to experience any flickering either.

Not sure. I have my pc (with a 1070) hooked up to HDMI 4 and am not having any issues.

People talk about HDR being mindblowing, but I feel like I can barely tell a difference and am not sure if it's even on. I think part of it is that EVERYTHING looks so bright and vivid on this new tv, that the improvement HDR brings seems small in comparison to the difference between this and the image quality on my ancient bravia.
