I don't expect that to be a problem if both Max & Merc wanted it. But as others said, it's probably better for Max to stay at RBR.
As much as I like Button, I have never seen an easier title than his. He had decent races and great years but his 09 was meh.

Intra-team competition is fun and all, but Hamilton's had his fair share of that over the years. I'd much rather Red Bull and Ferrari step up their game so that we have four or five real title competitors than for the Mercedes to be miles ahead and for there only to be two again.
Having a clear #2 isn't a bad thing, as long as other teams are able to fight with the Mercedes.

Doubt it. The factory's in that patch of Britain that has all of the F1 teams, and they value winning above all else (especially if these new regs end up as good for Red Bull as the rumors suggest). Realistically, they pull up Wehrlin to be the "B" driver, or they go for an old veteran that can play for the title eg. Alonso or Vettel.
because at some point they'll miss the sport, are bored or whatever and they always come back. Doesn't matter if they can never reach their best form again, they just want to be part of it

Shocked at this but I understand it. He's got pots of cash, a young daughter, and has achieved what any F1 driver sets out to achieve. Unless he's the type of person who can't live without racing, I can imagine that enjoying life with his family makes a lot more sense than enduring constant pressure.

I would love to see Vettel in that seat. If Alonso get it, and loses to Lewis, people will say its because he's old. Both Seb and lewis are in their primes.

He wants to defend his title and he knows he cannot do that. We got a snapshot of what his year was like. It must have been hell for him. This is what happens when you're born with a silver spoon. What is hell for him, and simply hard work for other F1 drivers who worked their asses off to get to F1 without any lineage.
It'll just happen again if someone finishes ahead of Lewis though.
It does feel like Rosberg doesn't really enjoy it, or stopped enjoying it some time ago, and just kept on because he wanted to be WC like his dad. I can see him wanting to do other things and keep being a non-enitity when it come's to Bernie's PR campaign. I guess quitting now means he doesn't have to do any to that WC ambassador crap.

Villeneuve springs to mind. I do have a soft spot for him, but in retrospect his '97 win looks a tad shaky. It was a strange season, one in which Villeneuve and his rival, Michael Schumacher, never shared a single podium together. For a championship that was decided by a handful of points, it was always struck me as a bizarre anomaly.
Anyway, this news genuinely shocked me. But good luck to him, those Rosberg's are clearly a "one and done" type of family. He deserved the championship solely on the strength of him coming back at Lewis after his 40+ point lead was completely eroded. I thought the championship was done at that point, but he built up another lead and, with a small sprinkling of luck, he saw it through. I'd put him more towards the top of the one-time world champions.
Yup. Mark Webber said on Sunday that at Williams, Rosberg told him he was close to quitting as it might not be the category for him with all the press and pressure. Now he has a family and achieved his dream, there's nothing in F1 for him.
Mansell did it (before later returning for a couple of races).
