Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

The crystal said it was looking forward to one more specific death (Noctis's, because that would mean Noctis fulfilled the crystal's calling and banished Ardyn).

That's fine but then Regis said something to the nature of " I refuse this" which means he's against giving noctis up. But the game does not indicate anything like this and seems he was all in on the sacrifice deal.

Well, in the ending he was looking away and refusing to stab Noct until he reassured him that it was okay. So some of that is still there.

Well, the trailer was supposed to represent an 'omen', so I think you're on the right track. I figured it was a what-if scenario and what you see ends up happening to Noctis in the trailer is the result of him failing to defeat the scourge, hence the description of the entire vid being a nightmare and stuff.

Does anyone know which song is played when Noctis summons the final attack against Ardyn in the afterlife realm? It's beautiful and I want to endlessly gorge on it.

Without the soundtrack being out, I can't be 100% sure but the track titles indicate it is "Somnus Ultima." Unfortunately, it can't be ripped from the game because of all the sound effects so you'll have to listen to it in context for now.

I see. Trailers are trailers so not going to complain but your suggesting that the end clip of the trailer is a precursor to the events of the omen. Odd looking back because intial review of the trailer seemed like Regis was a extremely commited father to noctis to the point of going against the sacrifice.

Just thinking that if you didn't watch Kingsglaive, you'll be lost to those ghostly knights in the end.

didn't watch kingsglaive, but since they were wielding the swords you've been collecting from dead kings i assumed they were noctis' ancestors bestowing their power upon him and also being the stand in for a knights of the round summon. seemed pretty obvious unless there's something else i missed

Good job. And you should watch it.

I've been bitching about this game a lot, so time for some love:

Favorite moment of the game for me was when Noctis saw Prompto as Ardyn on the train. The entire sequence with Ardyn's VA talking like Prompto was super lulz.

If you didn't watch Kingslgaive you would be missing out on a whole lot more than that. Decent character development from Luna, Raevus and Reagis, the only real screen time for Emperor and his cronies (including establishing Ardyn's presence among them), visual establishment of the Ring's toll, Diamond Weapon and Ultros - who are both cooler than any of the actual bosses you face... quite a bit more but that's what stands out.

OH RIGHT, SEEING INSOMNIA FROM WITHIN BEFORE ITS DESTRUCTION. AND THE OLD AND NEW WALL. AND HOW THE CRYSTAL WORKS. AND HOW THE PEOPLE LIVE. And the Kingsglaive in action.

Unfortunately it is an awful, awful movie. The non-celebrity VAs are cringe-inducing. The editing is a nightmare. The action is really sloppy. The whole thing is very poorly paced and structured.

It's like, yes you should watch it... but also nobody should watch it.

Would have been a nice touch for the text box that pops up when you do a summon to appear at the end of the game with a formal "Knights of the Round."

And while Bahaumt's attack was awesome (though completely pointless) I do think it should have been called Giga Sword or Flare Sword, rather than Ultima.

It''s one that definitely seems welcome to interpretation, at least, lol. I'm still not sure if Regis and the Crystal dude were referring to the sacrifice of Noctis or Regis himself when he says 'he will take responsibility, you know', but...actually, now that I think about it, maybe they were referring to neither and actually meant Luna. I mean in the context of the disjointed trailer, I guess it does make some sense.

Either way I don't believe it is intended to be an accurate take on the game's actual story, yeah.

Though I kinda broke out laughing when I saw some footage interspliced in that dream sequence at the end of ch. 1. xP

HAHAH yes! That was so on-the-nose but it gave me a kick, lol.

"Dude, you're scaring me," in Ardyn's dry accent was gold.

It's a bad movie but def worth watching for the CGI and lore. Some amazing action sequences too.You do learn more about the old Kings and the ring as well. At least we saw more Luna in it.

Also, Ultros is sorta in it, I guess lol

The attack was cool. I was expecting a giga flare or something. My only gripe was the Bahamut design. It was just a dude wearing dragon armor. All the other summons had pretty traditional designs but still managed to look interesting. Really liked the way Ifrit looked.

Bahamut was a giant dude in armor instead of a dragon. I didn't like that at all. Why do they constantly fuck with his design.

I think it was actually a woman... when Bahamut attacks Ifrit there is a close up on its eye looking back at Noctis. I know men have eyelashes, too, but I thought that eye looked extremely feminine compared to the male eyes in the game. But we may never know!

And it was Bahamut-shaped dragon armor!

Speaking of the designs of the Astrals, I really liked the blend of traditional and new.

Titan, Leviathan, Ramuh and Shiva all looked how you would expect.

Bahamut and Ifrit were neat reinterpretations for longtime fans, IMO. I liked the idea of the dragon armor, I feel like it represents Bahamut taking a human form well.

I REALLY like Ifrit being depicted as a classical Lucifer/Adversary figure. Really neat touch with his head reclined on his fist.

It makes a lot of sense for the Infernian (hehe), adversary of men and the gods.

Yea, I liked him appearing like Lucifer sitting all fancy.

What if

Aranea was Bahamut

Ahh I fucking hate Sania and her damn find me these frogs quests. I understand why Tabata felt like the game didn't needed any villain development since this woman already does the job all by herself.

I seriously hope some cieth ate her during the time skip and that she suffered a dark fate along with all of her stupid frogs.

Lol, just don't do them.

I didn't do like 80% of sidequests and hunts and I think that made my experience much more enjoyable.

I honestly loved Bahamut's design in this game. Leviathan was enough dragon for one time. Bahamut looked great.

Is there any way to get Ifrit and Bahamut to summon during regular fights? I just got Leviathan to activate the other day (and I think it's because I was fighting near water, which sucks because there are very few water fights.)

It depends on you and your parties' danger levels/deaths. I got Leviathan and Titan to appear in the area before Ifrit fight. Doesn't matter where you are. There's a guide online that tells you specifically the conditions for each summon.

Ifrit and Bahamut cannot be summoned.

Carbuncle is available if you completed the Platinum demo.

You can't not do them if you want a ribbon though.

Oh really? That's probably more important for post-game dungeons. You definitely don't need a ribbon for the main quest.

That's lame, though.

Plot twist, she was killed by an Gigantoad

Still haven't seen Carbuncle. I might just watch all the summon videos online. They should patch in Ifrit and Bahamut to appear postgame.

Wait, so there's the Imperial base you get the Regalia back from, then the one you do the tracking/tailing mission in, then the optional one with the ambush and Loqi's encore.

But there's like 6 bases on the map.

Are a bunch of them seriously unused and inaccessible?

Personally really quite liked Bahamut.
Maybe not my fav in the series, but I thought that entire scene with the summon and ifrit was badass. Was a bit disappointed it wasn't mega flare, but then I saw the swords explode off their back and I was immediately like "you know what, totally okay with this!"

Ifrit dancing around avoiding the blades was a tad amusing

It makes sense that you can't summon Ifrit... why would that guy want to help you? He's even more of a villain that Ardyn is

I posted about this yesterday in the regular thread but I can't get over how beautiful the new opening screen is. That song just stays in your head. I just let it hang there for an hour or so.

Titan and Leviathan wanted to kick your ass too. I don't see why killing him didn't get him to help you. Also, wouldn't Bahamut be summonable if he was already a good guy?

Yeah, but Ifrit is actively trying to destroy mankind.

Haha that was so stupid. So anime. Really destroyed the badass image he had before when he was just casually tossing fire at you like you were an annoying fly.

Titan and Leviathan are open to helping you but test your worthiness in battle. Ifrit, on the other hand, just hates mankind.

Ifrit drops an item right? What's it used for?

I agree that Bahamut should be a summon since you received the Mark of the Draconian but as others have stated it makes sense to me that Ifrit wouldn't come to your aid.

Ifrit can't be summoned at all? Don't you get his mark?

The item you get from him isn't the same as the rest iirc, I think it was just a shard.

Yep. That was one of the game's most exhilarating moments for me. Honestly if they went more all-out with their setpieces, like with that one and the Leviathan fight and all the summons, the game would've been the epic eye-fest we never knew we were waiting for since the last Bayonetta. I seriously would be down for a FFXV-2 with more of those God of War moments plus melodramatic orchestral music in the background peppered in lol. (sigh) If only.
