Could you guys see any possibility of "changes" in the home release if they were able to? Some additions in the beginning to improve the pacing? Maybe fix the 'Rogue One' title card that was in the beginning and looked very Windows Movie Makerish?

The funniest shit happened at my theater.
At the end of the movie there was this family a row behind me, and the kid, in a pissed off voice, was like "dad, why did they kill everyone?!" And it hit me that fucking kids are going to go see this LOL. I dunno, I came out of the theater a little depressed, still, I enjoyed myself.

You mean like a...special edition?

I'd like it if they fixed that title card and named Mustafar like they did with all the other planets.

I'd love Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Special Edition.

...wait...

Wait the cantina guys were in Jeddah and Jeddah blew up...

Good thing things like spaceships exist to come and go freely.
They easily could have chosen to leave like, any time that day before the laser hit probably hours later.

I'd like it if they fixed that title card and named Mustafar like they did with all the other planets.

Realistically this is the only change that has even the slightest possibility for the home release, but I still find it unlikely.

heeeeheheheheheheheheee.... This is going to be some kid's first Star Wars movie too.

I could not disagree more. Visually interesting in what way? This is the best-looking SW movie ever, in my opinion. Just talking aesthetics and visual detail.

I preferred the look of TFA, even though I think things like framing/composition are better in Rogue One.

Everything here has a washed out palette which I understand is intentional but TFA had some gorgeous scenes, especially the final battle between Rey/Kylo

The biggest laugh in my theater (which was nearly fully packed an hour before it began when I showed up) was "are you KIDDING me? I'm blind", and it was the whole theater

All of the sassy robot stuff went over well too

Just came back from a screening and I thought it was really good! It's certainly more memorable than the Force Awakens.

I've always appreciated good film scores, and thought it was sorely disappointing in Rogue One. My gosh, it just sounded so bland and dull.

It took four years to make.

Just got back from the movie. Solid 7 for me.

Gonna put down some more thoughts later but for now I got to say

People were giving TFA shit for the nostalgia service but I was literally mouthing "what the fuck" at the nods they pulled here.

I had a funny thought, which is that if you watch the movies in chronological order, ANH is now the only one without any new planets.

Good movie. Very good. That said...

...alll the posts I see in here saying Rogue One is better than TFA? Y'all are smoking crack.

TFA is the better Star Wars movie. I'm guessing after the new car smell wears off some of you guys will come to your senses.

I thought the cinematography looked pretty great. My only criticism is that they seemed to rely too much on shooting at a wide aperture. I felt like most of the scenery and sets were hidden in a shower of bokeh and blur. I love shots with a narrow DoF as much as the next person, but I also feel that shots with deeper focus can provide more information.

The cinematography kinda reminded me of Les Miserables; lots of portrait-esque shots.

We're a vocal minority :p impressions and reviews are mostly good. I disagreed with the negativity big time with TFA, but I really just could not get into this one at all.

I don't see many people being negative. Maybe nitpicking on CGI creeps.

I mean...I didn't love the film, but I'd be stupid and/or lying if I didn't say it's one of the better Star Wars films.

So, oddly Felicity Jones (Jyn) has sequel options listed in her contract...

Maybe then they're hoping to use her in Han Solo or something? Or maybe it's just them playing it safe?

Considering there were reshoots and there are some notable inconsistencies between the trailer and the final film, I wonder if she was meant to make it out alive originally?

Probably playing it safe. Didn't she come out and say also that she's happy there won't be a sequel? Or something to that effect.

Speaking of reshoots and such, I was kind of surprised at some of the shots from trailers not being in it. I guess they heard the reaction about that whole "this is a rebellion right? I rebel" thing too.

I'd probably take that with a grain of salt:

Something about this movie felt off to me. The characters were ushered around from location to location without really giving them a chance to breathe, or explain their own motivations. Sure, we could *infer* motivations, but nothing was really shown.

- Jyn goes from "fuck y'all fuck Sol fuck everyone" to "rebellions are built on hope!" nearly instantly
- The pilot's mind recovered real fast, huh?
- Donnie Yen + bro just kind of did things. They were given no real motivations or reasoning.
- Cassian (sp?) was shown to be ruthless in the beginning of the film, and while it was acknowledged a bit later during his verbal sparring with Jyn, he became generic good guy pretty fast.
- Double "dying words in my arms" scenes, really?
- The ending made no sense if you consider some of the lines in the beginning of ANH. Y'all *literally* saw that blockade runner split off from a rebellion capital ship in the midst of a massive battle. Darth Vader was RIGHT THERE. And Leia is trying to sell this as a diplomatic mission to Alderaan?
- Maybe it's because I work with computer graphics a lot, or whatever, but I could not STAND Tarkin. It was a joke. I couldn't take any scene seriously with him in it. Why even include him? You had enough bullshit fan service all throughout the film anyway.
- Vader's one liner UGHHHHHH.
- Apparently blue milk is a galaxy-wide beverage.

I dunno, it still had some great scenes, but...I'm not sure why people are reacting well to this film. It was largely a mess. TFA felt far more cohesive and had characters I actually cared about.

Need to say it again. But Darth Vaders castle and butler are awesome additions to SW lore.

Where was that located anyway? I don't recall seeing a location but maybe I didn't notice it.

I thought that thing was kinda dumb, actually. It felt like a generic evil overlord castle in and RPG. I mean hell it had a lava waterfall...lavafall?

Mustafar thats the awesome thing about it.

It seems like it was possible she got out alive in the original versions of the movie, looking at all the trailer stuff. She definitely got out of that tower w/ Cassian & K2 alive.

But at some point filmmakers musta decided fuck the sequel, the film works better if they all die. So now they're all dead.

Yeah. I didn't really understand many of the characters.

Also the giant lava castle was... ridiculous.
