Cause even for a two second clip she can't act for shit

The movie definitely did the Empire justice on all fronts. Really shows how bad TFA was on that front. Johnson is gonna have to step his game up bigly now.

I'm surprised though that Vader didn't try to Force Pull the ship when it was speeding away. Yoda would have been ashamed.

Now that I think about it, why not just bring in Carrie Fisher and doing the de-aging CG like Marvel did?

Have you seen Carrie Fisher lately? She looks like a completely different person from her original trilogy days(thanks to plastic surgery) IMO.

So by this point there are no clones left? Has this been explained in the new cannon exactly what happened to the Clones?

Rebels partially explains this. The clones were deemed old and not fit for combat anymore, so the Empire decommissioned them.

Like a "come stand in this room over here" (room goes ablaze in flames) decommissioning or actually retiring them to some planet?

The latter. Most lived out lives of retirement or working the docks while a handful remained in Imperial service as stormtroopers (the youngest clones) or instructors (the older ones).

I had no idea Tarkin was CG, but Leia looked strange right away.

So was Mendelsohn talking to a dude in mo-cap during filming?

But it's true.

That scene where she's talking to Han about Snoke in TFA is SO BAD. It's almost like Roland Emmerich snuck in and filmed it.

Wow, Tarkin was CGI? Mind blown.

I knew there was something off about Leia, thought they had cast a lookalike, but never would have guessed Tarkin.

My wife didnt know Tarkin was CG but thought Leia looked off. Hell many of my friends didnt realize he was CG… it was weird.

Pretty much me and my family thought this as well. I mean, I knew it wasn't Cushing, and even then I thought it was convincing. Leia was definitely off.

Just got out; Loved it.

Also, Gareth totally shined with the Vader scene.

Really enjoyed the Giacchino score.

Who knows the extent of the movie was gutted and/or altered, but the end package is certainly worth the brand.

I think the movie could have really shined as a two-parter, but I can't really complain, ultimately.

The main character was so weak in this movie and her acting wasn't really believable. Which is hugely different from Rey.

The story was expected but I was surprised that they killed everyone off. I said to myself that they could only work if they kill everyone... and they did lol.
The movie took a different direction which I enjoyed greatly. However the last chapter of the movie made the whole experience worth it

I just don't think any instance of it contributed anything to the story. I guess it riled up some people but I would have been fine with just assuming they were around during these events, just handled a lot better.

Yeah I've seen people mention that it would have been jarring to not have Tarkin in the film, because he's such a large player in the Death Star, but I don't necessarily think that's the case. In the same way The Emperor isn't in ANH (or in R1, actually), Tarkin could have been a background character that people reference and you can feel his presence, but he's never seen. That doesn't have to feel like they're missing actors: it can feel weighty, like this guy's importance will carry over into the next chapter where we'll get a real taste of him when he's more pivotal to the plot. It compartmentalizes the story and makes it more palatable, easier to digest where there aren't as many of these moustache-twirling villains around. It gives the villains a clear hierarchy as they're slowly doled out through the series. I think someone said perhaps he could pop up as a hologram at one point ala Palpatine in ESB. I think that could have worked well.

Man, that was disappointing. I didn't give two shits about Jyn or most of the squad outside of Chirru and Cassian. The characterization was super lacking...to the point where when they died I didn't feel much.

Just a weird, weird movie. I can definitely see why Disney stepped in and had reshoots. This thing felt hacked and patched all over the place.

What would you even do in a solo Vader film. Have him murder and quip for 2 hours?

What they should do is have Vader hunt down Obi Wan post fall of the republic, spend a good amount of time on Vader and have them fight it out once more.

OPEN:

Vader at his command post.

Grunt brings vader a rolled scroll of paper.

Vader unfurls and reads the scroll, with a slight head tilt towards the end.

VADER:
"I'll have to handle this myself"

85 minutes of brutal violent murder unfolds.

I'd love a Vader POV movie as he hunts down the Jedi while trying to break away from Palpatine.

(let me know if this is cool, found the scene on YouTube)

This is what it feels like when you're good at For Honor.

Really appreciated how they kept Vader's role trimmed down for the movie. When they started putting him in trailers, I was worried that we were gonna get another

"You thought the Death Star was bad?"

*record scratch*

"Well check out STARKILLER BASE"

"IT'S 50 TIMES AS BIG"

It wasn't. It wasn't necessary, either, but whatever, it was fantastic. TFA's fan service felt derivative, this felt... expansionary...? I dunno, it made the Star Wars world feel bigger, instead of smaller.

I agree about Vader's outfit. felt like it was put together at the last minute.

This is also true, but the design of the whole thing has always leaned a little that way because of ANH's retrospectively low-fidelity elements. I'm not mad that they leaned into it, considering RO's proximity to ANH.

No. Because then his line "Last we met... now I am the master" which hints that the fight took place long ago.

There's a scene with two Storm Troopers on the beach who were talking about about rumor they heard. Does anyone know what they were talking about exactly? All I heard was "Did you hear the rumor?"

Something about some vehicle being decommissioned, I think?

The fall of the republic IS a long time ago from A New Hope. it would literally be not long after ROTS and long before Rogue One

I feel like they'd be weary to do any kind of solo film because it would be hard to adapt his character as an MC for a film.

But I think:
-Obi Wan film
-post fall of the republic
-Obi Wan in hiding, trying to regroup with remaining Jedi
-Emperor sends Vader to eliminate the remainder
-Vader has personal vendetta against Obi
-Cat and mouse movie with Ewan MacGregor Obi Wan being too late to save his friends whilst also being unaware that he specifically is being hunted by Vader

But this is probably too dark for a Star Wars film

Per IGN: "
In A New Hope Luke says he flies a T-16 airspeeder (and even plays with a model version while talking to C-3PO and R2-S2), which has turned into an ongoing joke in the new Star Wars movies. In The Force Awakens, two First Order Stormtroopers are heard talking about the new T-17s, and then in Rogue One we hear a pair of Imperial Stormtroopers talking about how the T-15 is obsolete. And in both instances the troopers are voiced by familiar Star Wars voice actors Sam Witwer (Darth Maul, Starkiller) and David Collins."

This has potential to be pretty interesting. We'd get to see him training the Inquisitors and also killing the jedi that are brought to his castle.

I think one mentioned that something was being decommissioned (T-21? T-??) and the other said about time. Could be off base here.

Edit: look 2 posts above

Just got back from seeing it. A few things:

That was Halo Reach (in a good way)

While I appreciate it, I will admit that it's a little heavy on Episode IV callbacks, but most of them flew over my audience's heads so it's fine.

I thought I'd hate the new droid but he grew on me.

Vader's "You're all locked in here with me" moment was badass and the ending was perfect.

Something about the T-16 being obsolete.

It's a reference to a conversation that two stormtroopers are having in A New Hope if I remember correctly.

Speaking of Vader, I generally hate it when people call for "If they cut this last/any scene here to make it more ambiguous, it would have been peeerfect" but I'm really leaning towards Vader showing up for the first time in that hallway to maul those rebels up. I understand that that might have felt cheap, unfair and fan-servicy without setting him up prior, so perhaps name drop him, have him make a call or two, but I really don't think we need that scene on Mustafar at all.

I think the hallway scene, as fucking punchy as it is, could have carried even more punch if that was the first time we saw this hulking dude.
