Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

How is God Eater difficulty compared to Monster Hunter? I liked Toukiden's mechanics but it was just way too damn easy, and an easy hunting game is a bad hunting game.

My pick ups:

Telltale Batman Series
Ori and the blind forest
Abzu

Thinking about Hitman but not sure on the price or how it'll run on my 2500k. Might get it on next sale for PS4..

Okay gaf. Recommend me a survival game in the same vein as Don't Starve, but more adventure and combat similar to The Flame in the Flood.

If only Abzu, Trails in the Sky and Ys series were playable on Mac.

As it stands I'll probably grab Undertale and nothing else. Maybe Crypt of the Necrodancer or Hotline Miami 2

When you're weighing the pros and cons between not getting Dark Souls 3 or living on bread and water for a week.

Nuclear Throne not on sale, Devil Daggers not on sale. It's looking like I'll be skipping another Steam sale.

I've been waiting for NT to go on sale ever since it came out of early access. I just checked, and apparently the creator said he'll never put it on sale. Welp.

Assetto Corsa vs Project Cars, which one for just single player?

They've been on my wishlist for eons, it's time to deal with it.
Depends what you mean by single player. The 'campaign' is crap in both imo. Hot lapping is better in AC, especially if you have a wheel. It is quite janky and ugly though.

These comments come up all the time but throw out context. Devil Daggers was in a bundle and on sale just a few months ago. Nuclear Throne is almost never on sale; in fact this is the first time I've seen it on sale, it might even be the only time.

The cities skylines dlc doesn;t add a lot, so you'd be safe going in vanilla.
The major aspects of the expansions have been free updates to the base game (day/night, weather, i'm pretty sure the disasters also, but don't quote me), while the expansions themselves are fairly insubstantial. Most people who've bought the expansions say they're doing it just to support the devs.

Thanks, that makes my decision a lot easier.

Shadowrun Hong Kong is a great choice! Have you played the one that came before it, Dragonfall? If not, I recommend you getting that first. In fact, get the entire trilogy (Returns, Dragonfall, Hong Kong).

I loved Dragonfall! I skipped Returns, is it worth going back to? Should I play it before Hong Kong?

got 3 more small ones. Pony Island, Lakeview Cabin and Braveland Pirate (to complete the trilogy).

Its hard to pull the trigger on the bigger stuff these days man :/

It really is the worst seeing something at 60% off and not knowing if I should wait just a little bit longer for that better deal.

I have in my cart every Doom game, every Wolfenstein game, every Quake game, Heretic+Hexen pack, and Commander Keen

There may or may not be a pattern

So I've picked up, Virginia, Lisa: Complete Edition, Batman - Telltale, The Age of Decadence and Binary Domain. Still considering Danganronpa, not sure how I feel about it. But it has been highly recommended so I want to give it a chance.

Well, my context is that I'm not constantly on the prowl for deals. I have DD on my wishlist, but I've never received a sale email from Steam, though I do see on steamdb that it has been on sale.

And I'm not sure what you mean about Nuclear Throne... it's not on sale on Steam, and it's never been on sale according to steamdb.

Does it run better than it did at launch?

I played at launch on PC (GTX 680 2GB, 8GB ram, stock 17 4770k, all running at 1920x1080 using Geforce Experience's recommended settings) and had no issues with lag, performance, or stutter. Note though I played with a 30fps cap and am happy playing at 30fps. Dunno if that helps you but performance might not be so bad for you especially considering it's had at least 1 patch to fix things up.

Haven't played Monster Hunter, but from what i've read, God Eater is definitely easier, the first part of the game at least (there is some post-game content which is harder than the first part, not really sure how it compares to MH though). It's also not really considered a "hunting" game by a lot of people, as well as some people think that these games aren't really compareable, since God Eater focuses strongly on story and characters.
God Eater is a fast-paced action game with mission-based gameplay, with story bits and character interaction between missions. There is a crafting and loot component, so it is possible to "grind" in this game to upgrade\craft new gear - although it's not really necessary, at least until post-game.

Would I enjoy Doom if I haven't played a first person shooter since Half-Life Episode 2? I liked the demo a bit, but the combat and enemy variety got a bit repetitive.

How long is Orwell?

How is VA-11 Hall-A? I heard good things about writing, which I can get into as long as the gameplay isn't too mind-numbing.

It really is the worst seeing something at 60% off and not knowing if I should wait just a little bit longer for that better deal.

Last major sale, Zesty Tales was 66% off and I asked if it was worth it. Nobody answered so I took that as a "no."

And now it's 75% off.

Still not sure if it's worth it.
