Alien is my 2nd favorite film of all time. It's a sexual creature. Always been. What's wrong with the scene? It's 100% inline with the masterful original.
Doesn't look like it expands on the first two in any way. Feels like a remake of the original only more expensive looking and "less boring."
Wait, how much time was supposed to have passed between Prometheus and this?
Alien is one of my absolute favorite films of all time.
This trailer was pretty bad. Looks kind of cheap, as well. I hope for the best, but this doesn't look good.
That looked terrible. Redundant, dumb and the trailer was VERY spoilery.
Will watch.
It felt like a throwback to the 80s slashers, hehe.
In terms of what? Blade Runner was based off of a widely loved, existential Philip K. Dick novel. Prometheus was an at best average, sci-fi slasher, at worst a travesty in screenplays.
Same happened with The Thing and The Shining. Seems to happen a lot with sci-fi/horror moviesThe source material is irrelevant. Blade Runner wasn't recognized as an instant classic upon its release. Early crititcal reception was mixed at best. It didn't find its audience until people got to live with the film for years and consider its themes.

Prometheus appears to be on a similar trajectory.
you can never take comments posted on gaf too seriously. Gaf lives in its own little bubble when it comes to this kind of stuff
Looks terrific.
Looks boring.
Maybe after Exodus: Gods and Bombas, no one wanted to give Ridley a huge budget?
Making it easier to manage your expectationsThis was a pretty bad trailer. Certainly nowhere near as good as Prometheus's trailer.

Cloud Atlas too. One of this centuries best science fiction films, that many passed up at its release

They should have gone with something closer to the Alien or Aliens trailer. No dialogue, just nightmarish sounds and visuals.
It actually looked redundant to both, now that you mention it.Aimed at Prometheus or Alien? I do think it felt very spoilery though. The "ear" shot in particular kind of spelled the entire story out.
Yeah Alien always felt like a really classy slasher movie. Like a sci-fi giallo, without any care about budget!
Well The Thing did open with Blade Runner. Which was a couple weeks after ET which did kill the damn things IMO. I wonder if The Shining got jumped like that. I don't know!
I liked Katherine Waterston in Inherent Vice
Loved that movie even though it made no goddamn sense.
I wonder why the fellow with the alien coming out of his back has such a pasty/chalk complexion.
Was his body going through shock or was he mutating into an Engineer?
This doesn't really happen anymore with the internet. I don't think it's happened since Fight Club nearly 20 years ago.
The former. There's another scene where theneomorph doesn't even burst out the back but from inside a crew member, crawls through their throat and bursts out their head.
The neomorphs are smaller creatures with spiked backs and tails that run on all fours like the dog alien from Alien 3, before they learn to stand up.
You should have been there telling them what to do.
Sure it does. Children of men, Donnie darko, The Prestige and Scott Pilgrim
Why is Michael Fassbender in everything?
Anyways, trailer looks meh. Can't be worse than anything post-Alien 2 though. That last scene in the shower though? Just terrible.
There's a reason FOX and Ridley went back to the Alien branding instead of calling this movie Prometheus 2. This isn't a GAF bubble sort of thing.
So, this doesn't follow the rest of the Noomi Rapace storyline from Prometheus? I mean, I know that movie wasn't great, but geez, I thought we were going to follow her to the engineer/space jockey planet.
Am disappoint.
