I don't know why people hate the "I rebel" line so much. It doesn't really have a place with Jyn's character as is, because she doesn't give a shit about the rebellion at any point and is definitely not with them so much as just with particular members. But you know what, if they did incorporate it, it would be a statement of intent and motivation that she currently doesn't have.
Jyn's transformation isn't even remotely as bad as Anakin's swing from "WHAT HAVE I DONE?" to child murder in less than 10 minutes screen time
Also, the movie depicts both Tarkin and Krennic as trying to cover their own asses. I don't think either of them would be too interested in searching for the flaw very hard, because the Emperor finding out about it would be bad for their careers/lives. Just look at some real world examples like the Patriot Missile, M16, and the M2 Bradley for how contractors and military officers try to cover up flaws.
Nah. It's just that there wasn't much on-screen character building so it felt unearned. It did, however, feel genuine.
Anakin had plenty of on-screen character building and it was all shit that resulted in more shit leading to ultimate shit.

I'm definitely in the boat that had no idea. I probably haven't seen the originals in 15 or so years, and longer than that since I've really watched them with focus.
In the theater, I was really impressed that they managed to make someone look close enough to him. Afterward, I see all the complaints about really blatant CGI. I didn't notice either instance, I was just happy and impressed to see returning characters.

And if it had carried over A and B wings from Rebels, it could even have people similarly complaining that "they weren't supposed to have those ships yet!"
Just got back from seeing it. The characters aside from Alan Tudyk's robot, the dialogue, and most of the first half are all trash. But the second half is awesome and just a damn well done extended battle sequence, not to mention unrelentingly bleak for a Star Wars film.
Darth Vader cleaning house was the highlight, just terrifying.

I thought it was the same species as Plo Koon as well, but apparently he's a new species: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tognath. But yeah, they designs of those two species are really similar with the breathing apparatuses.
Also there were two of them I guess? I assumed they were the same character.

I disagree, seeing the two guys from the Mos Eisley Cantina and R2D2/C3PO show up in Rogue One I felt were awkwardly shoved in.

At least, unlike Rebelforce Radio, it doesn't randomly turn into some Rush Limbaugh bullshit for no reason.
The character work and dialogue was bad video game-tier in this movie.

Also, WTF possessed them to give him weird flimsy robes whose hoods don't drape properly? He looks like a goof. They even got it wrong in the reshot ESB hologram scene.

So you know when the star destroyer gets disabled and that retro looking lightning/electricity ripples all over it that's straight out of the old films? I swear that happened to a star destroyer in the OT at some point too, but I can't find it. I know it happens to R2 a couple times when he's zapped, but the star destroyer eludes me. Am I just going crazy or am I just missing it?

In Empire when the Rebels escape from Hoth. One of the cannons disables a Star Destroyer and it gets frazzled.
Oh wow thanks guys, I was scouring the movies but somehow skipped past Hoth since I didn't really associate space with that battle. Good to know that my memory is at least partially functioning.

Makes one wonder if Han&Lando will be first without them. It might be hard to find an opportunity for an appearance. Kasdan wouldn't care either way, but Lord & Miller might want to do it.

I haven't had time to see those. I did not enjoy new eno villain in 7 as well. I hope he dies. I always imagined vader as grand villain. Rouge one was good did not mind cgi. Watched in imax it was fun. The beat part was

I've always thought the three main tones of the series were Legendary Mysticism, WWII Adventure and Western/Crime. The numbered entries dip into all three, but use the mystic angle for the main conflict (much moreso in the PT.)
Since Rogue One focused on the war angle, it makes sense for the next spinoff to use the underworld elements. Besides, for these fast-paced comedy writers, an criminal organization has more opportunity for oddball supporting villains than the monochrome Brits.

The Rebels B-Wing was just an experimental prototype with many flaws that have also been pointed out.
It was just in 1 episode, Hera obtained it for further development by the Rebel Alliance.
And this season they got scrap Y-Wings for Gold Squadron.

I'm in the other boat. I'm not a particularly big Star Wars fan, and have only seen the original trilogy twice. Most recently about 10 years ago. And I had no idea Cushing had passed.
As soon as Tarkin turned around, I knew it was CG.

Proportion-wise, he looked more like the Emperor in the Phantom Menace, without any make-up.
With McDiarmid's natural ageing over the two decades since RotJ, they only needed subtle prosthetics (and mainly to give him that bulbous brow) to make him look like the 1983 Emperor. The original prosthetics had a flaky, textured quality and sat flatter on his face:
Versus the bloated rubbery mask in RotS:
They managed to do a good job with ion torpedoes, but yeah, B-Wing prototype probably could have helped out there. Or just B-Wings in general.
It's even painted red!

I can pass on B-Wings but an A-Wing or 2 would have been okay considering how heavily Rebels features their use 2+ years prior.
Im just glad Y-Wings were handled well, they have always been my favorite.
I assume all the A-Wings were destroyed before the movie thanks to being used by the perpetually unfortunate Phoenix Squadron.
