Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

So is there a consensus on what the best deals are this sale?

Been thinking about Endless Legend, maybe, but I didn't like Endless Space as much as I'd anticipated.

interesting... F1 2012 and 2011 survived.

And 2010, seems a little odd. Maybe something from that year, a sponsor (?), ran out or maybe it's just a mistake.

Just in case:

You say that as if to inspire trust when you have shady ass mods like Zel running around scaring children.

What happened to him anyway? :/ I miss him, he's my Lords of the Fallen buddy ;_;

I wonder what games next year ill spend hundreds of hours in which will sidetrack me from the 52 thing.

Marvel Infinite maybe (or 3) if I get into it, but even SFV I only put like 60 hours into.

There's no mmo next year (no wow xpac like this year and no ESO on the horizon that I want to try, unless FF 14 drops the sub), I wont get into any competitive game like I got into Overwatch because thats just not my thing, that one was the exception that proves the rule... so yeah, next year should be easier to do for me.

And I don't even play any life consuming MMO's or DOTA or anything crazy like that.
There just isn't enough time.

I have a question, which would be better, to get the Doom 3 BFG edition, or the Doom collection (featuring Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Master levels for Doom 2, and Final Doom) and then Doom 3 separately?

Final Fantasy Tactics is the only strategy RPG I've ever played and I loved it. Should I get Disgaea? What's so special about it? What keeps people motivated to keep leveling up their characters?

What did you love about FFT? Gameplay? Story? Characters? Challenge?
It's important to know that Disgaea, while being a SRPG, it's a SRPG that's built upon numbers. The fun isn't much in smartly strategizing how to win the fight (the game's campaign is easy enough and provides plenty of ways to break the game), but in how much high you can pump those numbers to do all the side stuff. The fun is in getting an item, going inside it to level it up. To pump the stats by capturing, inserting, fusing specialists. To get your requests passed by the council by bribes or by kicking all the councilors' asses. To become so strong to beat every item god boss and special hidden bosses.
The story is light-hearted, with funny moments, charming characters and lots of idiocy.
While FFT and Disgaea are both SRPG, they are pretty different in what they want to achieve.

Saber is the real Queen, not all those fakes popgaf loves.

I have done everything in the Witcher 3 except for 5 Gwent cards which are hiding on merchants somewhere. Probably a few quests that you have to stumble upon as well.

I got screwed with the Blood and Wine guest character though. I was defaulted to a certain magic user who I did not have relations with.

Anybody play Squad here? Worried about it being early access still, how are the updates coming along and is it worth the £20?

I love Arma but sadly I don't have the time to invest in that game much anymore and this seems to be a much quicker fix.

Yeah I play it from time to time. It's like a more fun and quicker to get into version of Arma, and much less clunky. Feel free to add me on Steam- http://steamcommunity.com/id/sinjun/

Well, that looks like a really good description! Thanks a lot!

How's Brütal Legend?

I liked it. I liked the heavy-metal-fantasy aspect of it and driving around that world. What's not apparent is that a large part of the gameplay is a real-time-strategy battle system that's not that great, but not a huge deal breaker either. It's a weird game. If the characters and aesthetic appeal to you and you're not too fussed about gameplay jankiness, you can have fun with it.

Okay I bought those arcade games listed and pony island. Any others?

(Pony Island looks odd but I will go in blind as requested)

They had a free weekend and I gave it a try. The game was atrocious. Like I was shocked on how bad it was. I then was shocked on how it has decent reviews. Maybe I didn't play long enough to pass the learning curve but all in all, my whole experience was a mess from the bad graphics to getting shot at spawn.

Have you played Arma? Because I feel people that don't like that game would say similar things about that, but I love it.

I'm thinking of picking up the Humble Monthly and trading the copy of Vermintide for something like Invisible Inc ($6). I kinda don't want to do this, but the humble monthly gamble is just so tempting.

@^#% both Astrokill and Cards of Cthulu auto-launch into VR mode if they detect a headset and since neither were designed for VR, this makes them completely unplayable. Refund requests away!

It's funny the games that get hit by this; there's a flag in Unreal Engine that basically has "if headset detected, auto-launch into VR" that takes 10 seconds to unflag (Solitarica patched it in a day), but especially with early access games you never know if/when the developer will bother.

I own ARMA but I have not played it. I am a fan of first person shooters though.

Is Pony Island a pure puzzle game? I am shocked at how cheap it is. Might just buy it based on the positive reviews but don't care for puzzle games right now.

It's a puzzling game. (It's not a puzzle game)

No, it's not a pure puzzle game. It's a cool thing that you should go in blind for.

If you really want a brief, least spoilery way of describing it,
it's a multi-genre collage that's very story heavy.

Anybody have any experience with Dungeon Rats? It's made by the same guys that did Age of Decadence, but with a combat focus (ala Icewind Dale) as opposed to a straight up RPG. Kind of interested, since I'm probably going to pick up Decadence anyways.

Does anyone in here play Final Fantasy XIV? I have one of those Amazon summer DLC codes that are apparently pretty rare and would like to give it away to someone that would use it, quote this if you're interested. I'm pretty sure it still works, but I can't guarentee it unfortunately.

Yo.

Ill take that if u dont mind

Thanks got the card in a queue

Son of a Bitch! I'm still missing two cards for the badge but I never knew we could get cards from the discovery queue too!!! Man, I missed out on a lot of cards cause of that, damnit.

I'll have to just buy the two I'm missing.

Even though I can't stop my snark over all of Ryse: Son of Rome's dumbness (should have been called Attack of the Clones), it's probably the best looking game I've ever played. If you've just bought a PC, you really should pick it up and treat it as a glorified benchmark/real-time test reel.
