Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

And this plays to a bigger point... to those of us who beat the game... who cares about adding cutscenes and lore to the game now??? Who cares??? Too little too late, in my opinion.

Best thing to do is let us play cool stuff with the guys and meet up with Iris, Cor, Aranea and Cindy. Let us get new outfits but even that is becoming dumb as time passes on.

I'd rather have a better product to revisit down the line than the same one. It's not ideal, but it's much better than not doing anything.

The content you mentioned would be very cool too, though.

I would be very excited if on my second playthrough of Dark Souls, Lost Izalith was no longer shit. Instead, I played thorugh it so many times that I honestly have no idea how many they were, and every single time the bad parts were still bad.

It's not exactly the same, of course, because Dark Souls is still a masterpiece, but you get the idea. I understand being upset about it, but at the end of the day, it's better.

It does create precedent, though, of not buying it day one again, but that has been a thing for a while now, with the overreliance on patches, while game prices are dropping incredibly fast. I think the only game I'm buying day one this year is Persona 5.

Here's my question: how the heck did we fight a demon Ravus, after the human Ravus died? He was dead, we saw the body. To my knowledge nowhere else does the game hint that demons can be created from dead people.

It never says they must come from living people either, though. We see that they completely vanish and reappear as daemons. Maybe that involves dying. What isn't explained is why he was the only one to keep his clothes, haha. But there's a small difference to Ravus, compared to any other generic daemon. He didn't seem "infected" in the normal way, it seemed like it was just his prosthetic arm that had the magitek daemon bullshit, plus being from the Fleuret line, probably had some influence on it.

Of course, the amount of "maybe" and "probably" means that the game doesn't really explain it, but it didn't jump to me as anything more than "cool boss moment".

Eat lasagna. I bought enough ingredients to eat at all 5 camps. The elemental damage nullification trivializes most of the hard fights. Jormungand type bosses on floors 29 and 60 have all their fire moves nullified, leaving just their basic melee. Coeurls instant death attacks are nullified because they are considered lightning. Arachnes also use mostly lightning attacks. The Nagas on floors 50-60 are the most dangerous but they aren't bad.

The first 30 floors are easy. Floors 31-40 are the hardest by far because of Iron Giants. You need to fight 4 of them at once in one room, then survive several more with your weakened team. Make use of mega potion infused spells to full cure Noctis. Experienced my only non Type-F game overs on these floors. Once you reach floor 40 the rest is cake.

I did the whole thing with gold tail soup and equipped thermal suits for the boss. Zwil Crossblades wreck everything with 100 % crit.

XI has Odin too, and he's pretty important in the story.

Yeah I did understand it was his arm that fucked him. I mean, he wasn't like the other daemons, he was half human and had conciousness, just he couldn't control his body (felt like the arm was the one controlling him).

But yeah they never explain how magitek powered stuff can affect people. I mean , Aranea spear is magitek powered yet she's fine.

Can someone explain that ending?

Did Noctis die and the scene with Luna and Noctis was just the afterlife?

What about that final camp fire scene? Did that take place before or after the final fight?

After Altissa, the story/plot got really confusing.

Yes that was the afterlife. The campfire scene was before the final fight.

Noctis and Luna definitely dead, bros were deliberately ambiguous and left upto players to decide. Campfire is before going into Insomnia during end of chapter 14.

I really don't understand why they killed Ravus off-screen. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fight or a cut-scene that ended up cut.

Heck they had pieces of paper around his body to explain his character pretty sure they removed alot of Ravus. Probably see him die during Promto dlc alongside rest of empire

He was sentenced to death, so maybe cutscene, but I doubt a fight was planned.

The way he was found, though, dead in the middle of the research lab, with dead bodies of magiteks around him as well, makes it seem like the reason why executing him for this seemed like an overreaction is because it was. At that point, things were going to shit already in Niflheim, it's very likely that Ardyn just wanted to get rid of him at this point, with the intention to end the line of the Oracle once and for all.

Prompto DLC has the most potential for story development if the main villain is Verstael, I really hope they go that route.

They might even add a cutscene of the main character acknowledging the events of the DLC to make the narrative a bit smoother. It's not unprecedented, Dark Souls has a new cutscene in the main game if you do the DLC in a certain order. That said, it has no dialogue or anything like that, so it was certainly much cheaper to make.

13 also has Odin

Completely for got about that, He was Lightnings summon thing.

Back of topic: Can I just say the Red giants are huge dicks? It was even worse when there were imps joining in, they just kept spawning. All I wanted to do was enjoy a night time drive, is that too much to ask for?

Funny thing is Noctis is probably the reason he turned into a zombiedemon. We see the fake arm clearly flowing and dripping with black gunk holding on to this sword, and Noct goes and drops it right onto Ravus's chest and leaves.

Just finished the game. I actually really liked Chapter 13. Not on a gameplay level, because it was the pits, but on a narrative level.

The earlier chapters were all awesome adventures with my bros. Stuff sucked sometimes, but otherwise we ate and rode chickens and had fun. Then, suddenly, Ignis is blind. (Also, Luna's dead, but who really cares about that?) The next dungeon with blind Ignis was frustrating as hell because you had to keep waiting for him, and Gladio kept grumping at you, but I ended up legitimately feeling like shit because I wanted to fix Ignis and the group's relationship but seemed powerless. It worked specifically because it really helped put me in Noctis's shoes.

Then, Chapter 13. Everything really sucks, you're all alone, and nothing is really fun anymore. But you keep stumbling ahead because you made it this far and want to see things through. I really felt the desperation and hopelessness after getting fond of the companions and Noctis's power and the routines of the earlier game.

I'm somewhat disappointed that they're saying they'll change it to be more entertaining. Life sucks sometimes, and makes the happy parts brighter.

GAF you're missing the most important conclusion we should be discussing.

ARE WE READY TO PROCLAIM OLD RUGGED NOCTIS THE MOST HANDSOME JRPG PROTAGONIST EVER, LET ALONE FF? Because I'm this close to making a thread about it.

A year or so ago I this thread that got shit on about a distinct lack of diversity in jRPG protagonists and to make my point I asked GAF to find me one non-user-created, non-Mario jRPG protagonist that had any facial hair. It took pages and pages until someone mentioned Front Mission. So you can understand how pleased I was when they show us old Noctis with a beard and I couldn't get enough of his "tired of this bullshit" demeanor.

Such a welcome addition. I'm tired of the same cookie cutter 17 year old sword wielding jRPG protagonists with a hot childhood friend in love with him In many ways Noctis seemed like another tropey MC but in more way than one he subverted the cliché. And he couldn't have done it without dat Voice Acting.

I have no interest in gladious dlc as found him boring then just a nob after chapter 9. Yeah promto could have a great horror vibe watchig Galtea collapsing into a demon hellhole. Ignis as potential showing more Altissisa and the battle against Levithan

I mean, you say beard like thats actually a beard.

I mean, you say beard like thats actually a beard.

I.... I'm not sure I'm following. Noctis sports a beard at the end. It's not a full-on Dumbledore beard but for a JRPG protagonist it very well may be and I'll take what I can get at this point.

Dont forget they dared have a JRPG protagonist get to the ancient age of 30-something! This was a franchise who changed protagonists in FFXII so they could shoehorn in a clean-shaven 17 year old wuss argumenting players wouldnt be able to relate to the rugged older dude because #JRPGs.

Question: Why are some places on my map dark and others light?

Also, how are dungeons found–just by wandering around? Any tips? I found
Costlemark Tower,
but I'm only maxed around Lvl.50 and getting wrecked.

Yeah, I found them by wandering, following paths, looking into interesting structures on my map and that kind of stuff.

If you're planning on doing all of the fetch quests, though, they'll take you to a lot of them (maybe all, not sure now), so you don't have to worry about it.

If you're not, then yeah, the map is a great guide.

I wouldn't have had as much of a problem with Ch. 13 if they made it shorter, or cut it into two chapters. Idk, I feel like that would at least alleviate some of the frustrations that I had.

Finished the game last night! I loved the ending! That final scene with Noct and crew around the campfire was wonderful, and I really like how he avoided the cliche "I love you guys" line or some big group hug. This is a close group of friends and it certainly wouldn't be out of place to say something like that, but in a group of four guys usually you don't catch yourself saying "hey I love all of you" in a very sincere way. You might have legitimate, brotherly love for these people but you don't outright say it. Whether it social norms or insecurities or what ever you just don't. At least I wouldn't.

So when Noct was struggling to find the words to be super sincere about how he was feeling before that final battle it felt natural and real, and I liked how he capped it off with a "You guys are the best." That stood out to me.

That story, the story of four friends going on an adventure together, is enough to carry the game. The overarching story about Noct's ascendance wasn't the easiest thing to follow, especially for a first time Final Fantasy player. With all these crystals, gods, destinies, deamons, oracles, kings, and what not it can be a little hard to follow and quite complicated. Some of it went over my head and I'm not ashamed to say I had to look up an explanation for the ending after beating it. It all makes sense and I see how I might have just missed one or two little, but important, details for it to all come together, but honestly it didn't matter because while Noct's sacrifice at the end was definitely a big moment there was also the conclusion of that road trip with your bros happening at the same time. So even if there were some confusing and complicated bits to the overarching story that story of friendship was always there, and it's possible to ignore the rest of the game and just focus on the bond between the bros while still getting a lot out of the story.

Wonderful game. I never expected to love FFXV as much as I did. This might be my first FF game, but it definitely won't be my last. Excited for the future!

I mean, its peach fuzz, but sure ;) Its a cool design once he puts his robes on (dodgy knee brace aside), he looks ridiculous with his old clothes. Also the first FF protagonist with black hair, which is pretty telling.

FFXIII came out 8 years ago. You had your chance to be unspoiled.

And common courtesy has been around longer than 8 years.

Wow! Last night I spent 5+ hours completing the most tedious thing ever in a Final Fantasy (or any) game - The Pitioss Ruins.

The concept of it was amazing and I really enjoyed the atmosphere too, however, Noctis is not designed for platforming. His animations, his precision, his control, all are really poor for platforming purposes. Even with these controls, it might have not been so bad but the main problem was that it was too damn long. You can't save anywhere inside either. It really needed to be cut down to 1/2 or 1/3 its actual size, or allow saving everywhere. It doesn't have any enemies, so no reason why it should not allow saving.

Damn! I'm impressed and angry at the same time. GGs, Tabata.

"Old" Noctis is especially dumb when the dude's only 30 years old after Chapter 13. Man, the genre really has to diverge from the usual trappings of teenage heroes who are somehow the only ones capable of felling empires and deities. :/

So yeah, I support "old" Noctis. More 30+ yrs heroes, please.

You're not insane, I assume that's how every individuals that completed Pitioss felt after completion. :P

It is damn good and damn frustrating at the same time, yet in the end, you can only feel satisfied that you've finally managed to do it, even though you've spare 4/5 precious hours of your life to do it.

It's a shame that there aren't more dungeons like this though, especially after I discovered that the 'vault' dungeons are all the same.

Yeah. I'd considered suggesting shortening it as a way to make it play better, but I think that'd kinda ruin it, as well. The "this has to be the end of this" fake-outs and sheer grind of it really sold me on the desperation, though, and I was overjoyed when I finally found the sword. If I'd gotten the sword earlier I don't think I would've appreciated it as much as I did.

Between losing the car and gaining the sword, I felt way more attached to Noctis's dad as a result, too.

Guys please reassure me and tell me not all post endgame dungeons are dark mazes without a map and filled with repetitive fights. I completed the first one and there was absolutely zero fun, it was terrible.

Also I probably missed some items because there were mutliple paths I couldn't access anymore after beating the boss since a door was locked behind me. What a stupid gameplay decision.

Heh, been thinking the same. Absolutely loved his design. I'm straight, but dude's a handsome mofo with that design. Teen Noctis looks goofy, tbh.

Yeah, was expecting the menace dungeons to be unique things, but they're really poor. The basic dungeons were all good though.

Reading up on the timeline. WTF? When was some of this covered or mentioned in the game? The whole Solheim and Ifrit part mainly. The other stuff was covered in the anime and movie which made sense.

The real mystery is why does young Noctis look Asian, but Old Noctis suddenly look White? Hmm.

The real bullshit is that Gladio and Ignis are only 3 and 2 years older than Noctis respectively. That doesn't make any goddamn sense if you watched Brotherhood.
