Join Yoshi and his loyal friend Poochy in the Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World game, a lovingly crafted side-scrolling platform game for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Launching on Feb. 3, the family-friendly game features six captivating and challenging worlds, each knitted to life with its own uniquely woven theme and bursting at the seams with secrets and collectibles.

By tapping the new Yarn Poochy amiibo figure - available separately or in a bundle with the game - Yoshi can summon support from his friend in each stage. The Yarn Poochy amiibo figure also unlocks timed challenges for Poochy-themed stages that reward new designs for Poochy once players complete the missions. And the Yarn Poochy is not the only amiibo figure that works in the game. Try tapping the Animal Crossing or Splatoon series amiibo figures to play as a new pattern for Yoshi like Tom Nook, Isabelle, Callie or Marie. Tapping compatible amiibo figures and seeing what Yoshi will look like is part of the fun of playing. Many amiibo are compatible, so try as many amiibo figures as possible!

New to the series, the Craft Yoshi mode will let you design your own patterned Yoshi. Using intuitive tools, you can use the Nintendo 3DS touch screen to design your own colorful and stylized Yoshi character. Your favorite pattern can even be shared through StreetPass!

In addition to the game, one animated short starring Yoshi and Poochy will be unlocked every day for 30 days for people that own the game. These short stop-motion animations can be viewed through a menu in the game.

Less experienced players looking for a little help can easily switch to Mellow Mode while playing Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World to gain the assistance of Poochy Pups. These sweet little Pups will sniff out secrets and wrap up enemies, and can even double as yarn balls for Yoshi to throw.

Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World will be available on Feb. 3 at a suggested retail price of $39.99, and can be purchased in stores, in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and at Nintendo.com. A limited-edition bundle that includes the game and the Yarn Poochy amiibo will also be available on Feb. 3 at a suggested retail price of $49.99. Additionally, the Yarn Poochy amiibo can be purchased separately at select retailers at a suggested retail price of $16.99.

I believe this is the first confirmation we've had that you can buy Poochy a la carte in NA.

(Also, the combo bundle is $10 more than I personally expected.)

Seems like the game's been already fully finished and localised and just held back so that they have a February release.

The game was released today in Japan and is starting to show Nintendo's new region-free attitude as it already includes every language. So be aware that people are already playing it in English.

I don't plan on getting the 3DS version since I already have the Wii U one, but I pre-ordered the Poochy Amiibo. Poochy's existence is a miracle.

Same. It doesn't sound like there's enough content to warrant double dipping on the game, but that Poochy amiibo? Oh yes, it will be mine.

Yeah, I have the game and considering making an import impressions thread.

Might be a good idea. It's a surprisingly good port from the two levels I played. Looks consistently 60fps with or without 3D turned on.

Mellow Mode is even more mellow since little Poochy pups can follow you around and act as unlimited yarn balls.

Level select is way more streamlined than the Wii U version. Not free roaming but more like 3D Land's level select.

I guess the only thing I noticed besides the obvious change in detail from the trailers is also how the environment doesn't seem to depress when Yoshi runs across it. Minor thing but otherwise pretty good.

I want to this play this now but sadly my current gaming schedule won't allow it; definitely some time down the road this year. Regardless, I'll be picking it up at launch just to be sure I nab a Poochy amiibo. <3

Also, the online site confirmed there'll be new amiibo costumes based on Smash, so uh...PLEASE LUCAS AND BAYONETTA YOSHIS OMG. Someone's gotta upload an amiibo showcase video soon!

BTW, Poochy the amiibo will also be a standalone release. So, there's no need to buy the bundle if you only want the amiibo.

Just found this.

The following information comes from a Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World hands-on...

- tilt the system to accurately throw your eggs, while performing other moves with the buttons
- opt out of this by simply using the buttons, which makes it more play like a traditional Yoshi game
- world map screens are now sidescrolling, which makes you instantly move from level to level
- revamped elements to the Mellow Mode feature
- alongside the wings of the Wii U entry, you are helped by the Poochy Pups
- the adorable critters will automatically run towards harsh enemies or secrets, so that you can deal with them effectively
- allows players to find to more hidden trinkets within the levels and fully finish levels at a quicker rate.
- brand new Poochy Dash, which sees Yoshi's best friend running automatically to a goal
- up to you to collect beads, jump off enemies in quick succession, pop a bunch of balloons and collect the Poochy pups that are scattered around
- while these levels can be played freely without the Smiley Flowers, a new option becomes available when you succeed there
- Gold Rush chance allows to snatch even more beads which can be turned in for the usual array of Power Badges
- apparently more stages to unlock with the Poochy amiibo
- Stamp Patches replaced by Pencil Stamps, which grant you access to crafting materials that can benefit the creation of your own Yoshi
- new Craft Yoshi feature allows you to create your very own Yoshi patterns and use them to your heart's content
- crafting materials you collect can be used in easy mode to make the dinosaur of your dreams quickly
- professional mode allows you to edit and change every aspect of a Yoshi design
- can select body parts, draw your own lines and make something absolutely unique to your game
- can't save your favorites to a QR code or something similar as only a StreetPass function is available
- final new element is the inclusion of 31 Poochy and Yoshi short videos
- depict the every day lives of the pair as they play, interact and go about their day
- videos don’t last long, but end with a trivia question that will earn you beads
- they unlock every 24 hours, can constantly skip the clock a day and unlock them
- game will run at 30fps if you play it on an older model 3DS, runs in a silky smooth 60fps on the updated handheld

I tried the demo and I think I like it more in 3D, also 60FPS
Delightful just like the WiiU game

But I don't think i'll buy it again, already have the WiiU version... Unless it bombs and go on sale

Nice to see it runs with 60fps on the New3DS. More games should go that route. Too bad Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D released before it. With 60fps it would be the definitve edition.

Kurious to see if we will get a "Definitive Edition" for the Switch. Love the new Poochy content.

So I played the demo and it might be just me, but it feels like the game lost a lot of its charm from going to the Wii U to the 3DS.

I loved the demo, but I think I'll hold off on it until at least I get a new3DS in the future. The framerate being halved was a bit distracting.

So I played the demo and it might be just me, but it feels like the game lost a lot of its charm from going to the Wii U to the 3DS.

Aside from the little visual touches like the sinking ground and frayed yarn fluff, it seemed the same to me. And personally those aren't enough to lose my interest, but I still don't think I'm double dipping on this one yet.

Hmm, with the New 3DS being 60 fps, I could see this potentially being the definitive version, whereas I wouldn't say the same about Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D in 30 fps.

I really hope the amiibo is being released separately as well.

But fuck Poochie. Almost broke my SNES due to his levels in the first game. Frustrating as all hell.

For whatever reason, I never got around to picking it up on the Wii U. Just finished playing the demo on the N3DS, and pre-ordered the bundle with the Poochy Amiibo. Love it. 😁

Played some of the demo, can't wait for the full release in two weeks. Already have the amiibo+game bundle preordered.
Poochy is so adorable! I have never played the Wii U version, so I can't compare. But I do love what I played of the demo.
Can't wait to scan some amiibo and unlock some of those special yarn patterns for Yoshi.
