Platium is one of the most important dev here I guess?
And MS's lineup isn't good now
lol okay.

It's a meme.
I've actually had the pleasure of meeting with Kamiya—at Platinum Games, no less—and he was a pleasant, personable guy, if a bit under the weather at the time. I have a lot of respect and admiration for him, and I feel terrible about the cancellation. :/
It's interesting to me to see how many people are disapointed, the last time they showed the game I remember everyone trashing it.
Too bad it got cancelled though. I think no one should point fingers till we know the whole story though.
What's there not to get? Sony still plans on publishing Japanese games years from now, and they want a healthy working relationship with their Japanese partners and studios, as well as fans of those talent. MS probably does not even have plans for publishing any Japanese games moving forward, probably not many games period, and if corporate rumors are to be believed, they might not even see much of a worthwhile future in the core gaming business long term.

They should assimilate into Capcom. Most of the big names were from there anyway. Inject modern development blood into that old big blue.
Yeah that's why I was asking for anything concrete that I might have missed in the past few hours. I'd need to know more about these contracts or how they handled it before I'm willing to throw them under the bus. Even if they did something shady, I don't buy that P* is blameless in project management here.
So nothing. Lots of reactionary posts in here.
I mean. I guess... So, you're just speculating? Nothing at all concrete?
What data are people using to draw positive correlations between first party games and console sales?
Wii U had a far more extensive first party library than Xbox One and yet...
This is a nothing statement.Either one of the most efficient studios in the industry couldn't get the game out on time somehow, or the publisher with the history of cancelling projects cancelled another project.

The Wii U had barely any 3rd party support. What data are people using to draw positive correlations between first party games and console sales?

So what do xbox have for 2017 now? Forza 7, Below, Cuphead, Sea of Thieves?
When the new MS CEO took over there were rumblings that the Xbox division was under evaluation. They have since obviously come out to support the division and say all is well, but let's be honest, they have Minecraft, they want to expand more and more into a services driven company, and that doesn't really gel with the traditional business of just making hardware and publishing exclusives.
Here and here.link please. this thread is getting like 20 posts a minute and its impossible to keep up. op is doing a terrible job as well.
i dont know why they would show not one but two gameplay demos and not show the coolest thing about the game. i also didnt read hear any particularly glowing impressions back at gamescom about closed door demos and they usually leak. and now we have some guy saying omg this thing has dragon combos and everyone thinks omg best game ever when the reality is that those combos didnt look too neat.
ahahahahahahahahsee the impressions of the suicide squad's original cut where some guy posted glowing impressions of harley and joker's deleted scenes. we all thought that would have saved the movie but they added those back in and they were actually kinda terrible.
one last analogy, no one gets divorced if they have a happy marriage. no game gets cancelled if it looked amazing.
Owned by MS. Somene can try to buy it, but it's unlikely MS will sell.Is Scalebound's IP owned by Microsoft? or it can be revived by other publishers?
This is a nothing statement. They're not going to throw the game into the trash for shits and giggles.

Stop creating this narrative that the game looked like a complete disaster. Not everyone thought it looked "fucked" or shitty. It had framerate problems and the huge boss fight wasn't the best looking thing ever, but framerate issues are something that often get (mostly) ironed out late in development and boring big bosses would have only been one portion of the game (and not necessarily all of them would have been boring just because one might've been based on a quick live demo of an unfinished game still presumably a year or so away from release by a possibly inexperienced/shitty player who didn't know how to best utilize the skills/weapons available).
Even the big boss didn't look so horrible that it would completely ruin the game, maybe it could've even been fun with a fully unlocked combat system and after some time mastering the combat system, being played by a person who knows what they are doing. It was a bit rough but something that looked like it could be fun when finished if they could get rid of the framerate problems.

People just love a good scandaldamn I can't believe this thread is over 116 pages long! it's almost like some people on neogaf care about the dev team that might lose their jobs over this...and want to figure out whos at fault here
This is a nothing statement.
They're not going to throw the game into the trash for shits and giggles. By many rumors, other games that were canceled (Fables) weren't too great either. You can put that on poor leadership from MS perhaps, but there's obviously more to these situations than "lol Xbox Cancel-Another-One amirite?"

This is something I should have added to my rambling post from a few pages back - MS is very much looking at their gaming portfolio and only releasing titles that can be monetized in perpetuity. In app purchases/ microtransactions , etc. Basically if they can't sell the equivalent of a team fortress 2 hat or push it as an e-sport , they don't want it.
This is why I don't think sea of thieves and crackdown are safe. The former probably got greenlit on the pretense they could sell it as minecraft but with pirates and the latter , they attempted to turn into a multiplayer only free to play mess that no one asked for. We also haven't see or heard about the game in a few years now which means either a lot of wasted money OR no money and a tiny team attempting to stitch together something resembling a game kind of like what happened with Just Cause 3.
So the question comes back - why even make a scorpio ? because MS did some focus testing and the metrics tell them that having the most powerful console will sell systems. If this is how little they care about quality software though... well I wish them the best of luck.

Platinum to team up with From to develop the spiritual successor to Scalebound. Please be excited for Soulsbound.
Oh yeah Halo Wars 2![]()
Capcom was the reason why clover studios was shut down and Platinum games was established. They should assimilate into Capcom. Most of the big names were from there anyway. Inject modern development blood into that old big blue.

Sadly after this,Kamiya will still refuse to throw his cards at Sony even if his company are in bad shape.
Throwing his cards at Ms and Nintendo last and this gen didn't work out for them.

Not just correlation, but a top-published paper with strong evidence of causality:

I'm not 'creating a narrative' so come off it, never did I say 'nobody could possibly hav eliked what they saw' or anything to include you if you somehow magically thoguht it looked amazing, what I'm saying is that the overwhelming impressions people had were bad, and this is shit you can simply look up the threads for the E3 conferences, gamecom information, etc, and SEE people posting. The hype surrounding this game got lesser each time they showed it, because it did not look good to most people every time they did.

Sleeping dogs was pretty amazing. Activison for some reason didn't feel it was up to their amazing standards though.
SE you mean?Sleeping dogs was pretty amazing. Activison for some reason didn't feel it was up to their amazing standards though.
His company is about to ship a PS4 exclusive. I don't think he's above working with Sony anymore
Sorry Phil, your console is worthless without games. Are this point there are not games to justify a Scorpio.

Thats the funny thing. That's going to get to live because of the words halo in the title. Should have named this Halobound and replaced Drew with Master Chief and it would still come out
