This.

Switch version all the way.

Edit:

There's also a larger difference in hardware between Wii U and Switch than there was between GameCube and Wii --
-- Remember, Twilight Princess had some framerate problems on the Gamecube in Hyrule Field. The Wii used the same CPU/GPU chipset clocked 1.5X faster.

I'm concerned about the frame rate as well.

BUT, keep in mind that this game was primarily developed for Wii U, and The Switch is very different hardware wise (not just the same architecture with more power ala Wii).

So we'll see how things pan out!

Yeah, definitely, can't really justify the Switch just for Zelda with so many other games also coming out over the next few months. Hopefully the framerate isn't another Hyrule Warriors on the 3DS situation.

Honestly never thought I'd be saying this today, but I really think I will get the Wii U version now. I was convinced I'd be pre-ordering a Switch this afternoon, but not any more. It's just not worth it just for a prettier version of a game I can already play day one, especially not at that AU price.

Hopefully the Wii U framerate isn't too wretched, but CEMU seems to be coming along nicely.

Going to wait and see if there is any substantial difference between the two. If not then absolutely am I getting it for the wii u.

Man, if Nintendo can't even convince Nintendo fans to buy the Switch for Zelda, the machine is well and truly fucked. Interesting responses in here for sure.

Couldn't agree more, though, really. I don't even have a Wii U and was putting my hopes in the Switch having a decent launch price/lineup so I could bite the bullet for Zelda, but that's one hell of a nope. Maybe after a price drop.

There's no way I'm buying a Switch at launch and I've had the Wii U version preordered from ages ago at a significant discount. I'm really hoping the game doesn't run like shit because Nintendo opted to focus on the Switch version.

Probably, I might wait for comparisons just to make sure the performance isn't too bad.

Just thinking maybe this will end up being kinda rare because of limited prints like Twilight Princess GC?

This was initially supposed to be a Wii U killer app, aren't there any special uses of the Wii U touch pad? Is the Switch supposed to be notably more powerful? I'm thinking the Wii U might be the better option.

is it coming to the wii u the same day as the switch ?

there is no way i'm gonna buy the switch, even though the new REAL 3D mario game looks fucking amazing, but still not gonna buy the switch just for mario

maybe when the console has Monster hunter, Fire Emblem, super monkey ball and No more heroes, then i may buy it

I will definitely get the Wii U version. Not touching the switch until it hits either a reasonable price point or revision and has a decent catalog of games. The 2017 lineup is not worth the investment.

Yeah I'll be picking up the Wii U version for sure. I wouldn't mind a Switch eventually for Mario but it's just too expensive and I'm not a fan of Nintendo charging for online at all. Compared to MS and Sony I think it's actually a major mistake for Nintendo to do this, killing their online enabled games at the first hurdle.

Yeah i have a feeling that it might actually have better performance on WiiU. Developers switched to completely new architecture( even though it's supposed to be more dev friendly ) from the one they used since GameCube era.

Oh wow, now I'm interested in the Wii U gamepad features. Because the Wii U version could actually turn out to be the definitive version of the game considering the Switch dropped the tablet + TV gaming thing.

I might. I manage to grab the Master Edition for the Switch version but if that launches after the Switch I might keep my Wii U preorder from when I ordered the game months ago because of the Prime discount. I'll cancel the preorder for the regular Switch version that way I don't end up with two copies. Then I'll play the Wii U version until the Switch version comes.

I'm not planning to buy a Switch on day 1 (I'll wait until Splatoon 2 comes out), so yes I'll buy the Wii U version.

great -.- so looks like I have to buy a switch since I dont own a wii u anymore..
Well if you have a friend with a Wii U you cask them to lend you the console for a couple of days so you can rip them. I have Wii U games and I do not have a Wii U, but I will get a Wii U from a friend in a couple of weeks so I can dump them all.
Can you dump eShop games too or is it only physical discs? Have a handful of digital games that I'd love to play.

Nice. What type of GPU do you have? Wondering how high I could push my 1080.
You can dump Eshop games as well, you can find instructions in the Wii U homebrew and CEMU threads.
The emulator is also more dependable on CPU than GPU.

Yup. Starting cost of console PLUS paid online PLUS cost of accessories PLUS abysmal library and third party support from March to Christmas means Switch looks like the first Nintendo home console I'll be ignoring (unless you count the Virtua Boy, which I'm pretty sure nobody really does). I was always going to be cautious given how often modern Nintendo consoles have taken early price cuts, but the clear, concise reveal trailer from October had me optimistic I'd get one at some point. Unless circumstances take a very strong change (more apologies for lessons not learnt?), no longer.

I have a 1080 too (clocked at 2 GHz).

This is true in general, but I'd guess if you want to run a game at 5k it also becomes GPU dependent ;)
Still, a 1080 is ~50x as fast as the Wii U GPU, so rendering 16 times as many pixels should be no problem.

Amusingly, the Switch conference allowed me to preorder the Wii U Zelda immediately upon its conclusion with no regrets. I'd been wavering with the temptation of a Switch and Zelda, but the conference made me feel that the Switch is not a good investment at this time and I should play Zelda on the console I originally bought it for in the Wii U.

If Cemu allows FullHD (or beyond) rendering, runs at full speed and doesn't have sound issues, the prospect is honestly a bit tempting. ;p

Switch prices are crazy for what the thing is, so yeah, guess I'll get the Wii U version and donate some money to the CEMU team

I'm aware emulators are typically more CPU intensive but I would imagine playing at 720p vs 4K wouldn't really change CPU performance?
Speaking of which would an i7 2600k at 4.3Ghz be good enough? Those 60fps games like Bayonetta have me worried.

Wonder if it could do 8k :P
I wonder what would bottleneck you first? The card or VRAM? Lol

Like with Twilight Princess, I think I'll be buying this on the old console. Can't justify buying a Switch so soon, due to lack of games, paid online, and just waiting too see if there are any CQ issues with the console.

Yeah I might hold on for Switch until Splatoon 2.
Those prices, paid online, the line-up, it all feels like Wii U 2.
We didn't see any unified library, where are the portable games?
Looks like Nintendo might plan a new portable and Switch is really seen as a home console.

Here.

I'd love to get it on Switch, but can't afford one just yet. It sucks to play the inferior version, but no way I'm waiting.

Pretty glad they were decent enough to not pull a Twilight Princess on us Wii U owners by the way, I was expecting them to.

I wanna see DF comparisons and performance impressions first, but I will likely buy a Wii U version anyway.
If it runs like shit, I can CEMU it later on.

Was thinking about it but the portability is a huge deal for me. WiiU signal doesn't reach my bedroom. Switch version for me.

Not sure really.
Think I'd prefer to play the switch version if that's the best version, but not really sure it is.
Is the Wii U more powerful than Switch? Not sure how they compare.
Switch is putting me off with price, storage, paid subscription and game prices (at least at the moment, UK market for you), atm, so I may just stick with Wii U, have to see how it goes.

My thoughts as well. Was pretty hyped but now I´ve calmed down and have remembered that it´s never a good idea to buy a console at launch, thanks to some things that´ve been revealed in the event. Will wait until Switch becomes a finalised product, in the meanwhile I have plenty of WiiU games I still want to play.
