Wonder Woman Is a Disjointed Disaster (Says DC Insider)

-Soundtrack use was far more creative and I liked it more than a lot of movies.
-The villain wasn't the best but I'll take it over any Marvel movie trash (Marvel show is a completely different story and shits all over the best of DC movies especially in this department.

The soundtrack was shit. Great songs, but they were used in the absolutely worst way. And they kept coming one after the other. It was grating.

The villain was complete shit. Far too powerful for the group of protagonists and just too bland.

Anyway, the worst culprit is the editing in Suicide Squad. It really turned something that could've been just mediocre into complete shit. It muddles the story, hampers the characters, and dissipates all of the tension.

Suicide Squad is a shit movie. You can give it points for "creativity" (it doesn't have any), but that's like giving rotten garbage points for having saffron in it somewhere.

Finland and I mean, everyone knows who Batman is just from movies alone. I don't feel there has been ANY venue for WW to gain any popularity over here at least.

Ahhh. Well, yeah. I didn't know that lol. Definitely can appreciate why you're unfamiliar. Although, have you never heard of the Justice League? Even in animated form? She's been there since jump..

Wonder Woman is an icon in America. She is extremely well known.

However, most people probably don't know much of anything about her story. They probably just think she has a golden lasso, flies an invisible jet, and her name is Diana. Most people probably don't know shit past that.

Yeah. That's fair. Again, I was under the assumption that he was American. It's why I asked where he was from.

It's the easiest way to get traffic. See this very thread. There's a reason why you don't get these stories for Kong Skull Island or King Arthur.
Man someone says skull island is bad then I will cry :(

Why don't D.C. Demote Zack Snyder to just the filmtogorphy and action corographer. Cause even if you don't like him his movies are beautiful directed and his action scenes are amazing. I will take slow mo any day over a disjointed overtly edited fight scene any day of the week. What Zack is ass at is story telling and character development, "MARTHA"

There's yet to be a good DCEU film, wonder woman herself is a bland character so this all makes sense. Plus gal Gadot is an AWFUL actor. Like ugh

Justice League is something that AFAIK hasn't been a big thing here either. I loosely know what it is (superhero team) and that it has an animated series and upcoming movie but if you put a gun to my head the only members I could name would be Batman and Superman (they... are part of the core team right? lol)

The reason why i find WW facinating is that my impression has been that people have really been drumming up this movie and seemingly been hyped about it and it's in direct contrast to me knowing basically nothing and being out of the loop. Shame if the movie ends up being dud for them I suppose.

Interesting considering I don't remember her appearing in any popular culture stuff at all (outside of comics obviously, I wasn't a big on superhero comics when I was young).

If she is so popular why hasn't there been any movies about her? Batman and Superman have what, 20?

It's not for lack of trying. Patty Jenkins actually met for a previous Wonder Woman over a decade ago. We're seeing a stronger push from Warners on DC properties not just because of the Marvel Studios success, but they've mined their other properties and need reliable blockbusters.

Real shame about Wonder Woman was never making a Wonder Woman The Animated Series in the 90s. I get why, especially back then. Still she hasn't had a strong solo showing for general audiences since her TV show in the 70s.

I'll add, while the usual three female superhero movies come up from time to time, it's worth remembering two of them are spin-offs and the third is a pseudo spin-off (the story of the project is crazy).

And to cut Marvel Studios some slack, it's well documented that Ike Perlmutter is a jackass who wouldn't take chances on heroines (or female villains) in movies.

I just wanted to chime in that as a 30-something Brit that when I was a kid I was aware of Wonder Woman as a character I think, but she has definitely had nowhere near the cultural impact of Batman, Spider-man or Superman. Back then I knew Batman & Superman from DC, and that's about it. Obviously the comics were around here, but if you weren't reading them then you just wouldn't know anyone else. I think it's the same for a lot of DC characters. I don't think there were many cartoons or whatever for them which is where I got most of my knowledge of comic book characters back then. Marvel had the X-Men cartoon as well as some show combining Iron Man, Hulk and Fantastic Four cartoons, and there were always Spider-Man cartoons so they got a lot more recognition. Wonder Woman is very American and so probably didn't play as well here.

I always wonder if the movie industry has sting operations where they send unfinished versions of a movie to like 1 person and see if the info leaks out.

How is this possible?

Yeah this.

"Really tried creatively." How in the hell? It's a derivative hodgepodge of mismatched elements that makes absolutely no contribution to its genre, except as a cautionary example.

You know, as someone who enjoyed (for the most part) BvS, I can understand why some love the movie. But SS? Nah. It kind of amazes me how WB managed to release an even more flawed movie than BvS.

Suicide Squad is not creative or unique. Using heavy handed songs to go along with the characters is honestly stupid. Oh Deadshot is black and bald, black skinhead. Waller is terrible but has decent means, Sympathy for the Devil. It's just dumb. The plot of the movie does not even make sense. Let's get a group of humans with really no extraordinary abilities except for a guy who can shoot guns well and Diablo. And enchantress although she is the type of threat we would be used for, which makes no sense. The editing is terrible, the action is worse, and the acting is abysmal. Don't try and tell me that piece of trash is better than any Comic Bool Movie, I'd rather watch Fant4stic again.

So now what? if this is true.... what can they do? hope for the best? keep moving forward with the universe?

If true, it's clearly evident that DC movies have too many chefs in the oven/input. And are trying hard to pull off what marvel does.

They need to let someone run with the ball, like Marvel did with John favereu/Kevin smith/anyone truly with a vision. It's tough because there's millions at stake, but if it keeps being a waste of money, what's even point?

I'm betting ceos, and execs, their sons, and their dogs, keep adding their two cent's after screening upon screening upon screening.

Got it. Yeah lol, they're definitely the leaders of the pack in the group, as is Wonder Woman. That's why I found it so odd you had NEVER heard of her..makes more sense to me now, knowing you're not from here. As for her movie? Like the rest of funny book movies, I'm just hoping its good. Don't know anyone that wants to sit through 2 hrs of garbage..I mean, besides Adam Sandler fans..

I was one of the few out of my group of friends who didn't think that the trailer was all that great. Plus, I don't let myself get fooled by DC trailers anymore after BvS and Suicide Squad.

I always wonder if the movie industry has sting operations where they send unfinished versions of a movie to like 1 person and see if the info leaks out.
They actually did do this for both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. The only problem is that the employee they sent the fake terrible copy to was the guy responsible for sending off the final print to theaters and critics.

MoS steel was decent, BvS and SS were complete dogshit. WB have inspired no confidence that they know how to handle the extended universe. The WW trailers have been alright, nothing spectacular. Although Gal Gadot has the acting range of a broom so thats a worry.

Why does the thread title say "DC Insider" when we have no idea who it was that said this total bullshit rumour?

Everyone harps on the GOP and Trump about fake news and the damage it does but this is exactly what this is.

I can attest to this, and not only in the US. My non-english-speaking 60 year old Mexican mom knows who La Mujer Maravilla (Wonder Woman) is. She doesn't know her backstory but she could identify the character from a mile away.

And WB is probably about to make the big screen debut of the most famous female superhero ever a fucking disaster.

There must be a story of what's going on higher up than just the film production itself that's forming a trend in all these DC movies. Surely.
It has to be. There's marching orders somewhere that state the story will never once matter, the tickets and toys will sell themselves because of the franchise. These remain profitable don't they?

It's the only excuse for why that can't make a single decent film worth watching five years after its creation. It's been a decade plus of straight up shit right?

Suicide Squad gets worse the more you think about it. I can't say that about BvS at least.

Suicide Squad is supposed to be a fun little side project in the vain of Marvel movies. it's not meant to be taken seriously. you watch it once, laugh a few times and forget about it. the theater i was in loved it. and i gotta admit it was infectious and i loved it too. i noticed a lot of problems on my second viewing but it did what it set out to do. Make a funny, action packed blockbuster and they succeeded.

What ended up happening is that all the critics and fans decided to treat this like a fucking oscar contender and absolutely ravaged it. we care about editing and narrative flow in our comic book movies now? we care about villains in our movies now? where was this outrage where iron man 2 and thor 2 ended up in the 70s on rotten tomatoes? even Star Wars Episode 3 is in the 70s. and that movie is fucking trash.

there is this double standard that seems to be hitting DC movies. it started with Man of Steel which was a perfectly fine comic book movie. it sat at a 56% of rotten tomatoes and the internet was brutal with its memes and treating it like a piece of shit movie while completely ignoring problems with how formulaic and forgettable marvel movies had become. i didnt care because i still had a few laughs and liked the visuals in marvel movies, but now i am like why am i giving these movies a break when others arent willing to do with D.C movies?

In no universe, do BvS and SS belong in the 20s. I dont care how rottentomatoes measures their reviews but that is simply absurd. i refuse to believe that over 70% of the critics thought they were rotten and over 70% of the same critics thought IM2,IM3, Thor 2 were fresh.

If liberals don't get their shit together and stop posting unverified bad stuff about DC movies...

well, get ready for four more years of Trump.

Also amazing how DC is the only that has these insiders telling us about all these movies.
We had them for Rogue One too. We don't get them for Marvel movies either because they're generally good (but we did get them for Ant Man) and nobody cares if Monster Truck is a mass.

I looooove that name. La Mujer Maravilla
