Wonder Woman Is a Disjointed Disaster (Says DC Insider)

Suicide Squad is supposed to be a fun little side project in the vain of Marvel movies. it's not meant to be taken seriously.

Can't get past this premise. Just because a movie is fun doesn't mean it is or has to be terrible.

Edge of Tomorrow/Live. Die. Repeat is a fun movie, a 'popcorn' flick if you will, that manages to have a story. This is a good movie.

Aliens is a popcorn flick as well. Good movie with a coherent story.

Iron Man 1 is pretty good too.

Suicide Squad is supposed to be a fun little side project in the vain of Marvel movies. it's not meant to be taken seriously. you watch it once, laugh a few times and forget about it. the theater i was in loved it. and i gotta admit it was infectious and i loved it too. i noticed a lot of problems on my second viewing but it did what it set out to do. Make a funny, action packed blockbuster and they succeeded.

What ended up happening is that all the critics and fans decided to treat this like a fucking oscar contender and absolutely ravaged it. we care about editing and narrative flow in our comic book movies now? we care about villains in our movies now? where was this outrage where iron man 2 and thor 2 ended up in the 70s on rotten tomatoes? even Star Wars Episode 3 is in the 70s. and that movie is fucking trash.

there is this double standard that seems to be hitting DC movies. it started with Man of Steel which was a perfectly fine comic book movie. it sat at a 56% of rotten tomatoes and the internet was brutal with its memes and treating it like a piece of shit movie while completely ignoring problems with how formulaic and forgettable marvel movies had become. i didnt care because i still had a few laughs and liked the visuals in marvel movies, but now i am like why am i giving these movies a break when others arent willing to do with D.C movies?

In no universe, do BvS and SS belong in the 20s. I dont care how rottentomatoes measures their reviews but that is simply absurd. i refuse to believe that over 70% of the critics thought they were rotten and over 70% of the same critics thought IM2,IM3, Thor 2 were fresh.

Exactly. Where are all the rumours about the new Transformers film? About Logan? There are a ton of big genre films coming out this summer and there's nothing about them...,

A single, unverified source.

lol, I'd try to explain to you but I get the feeling I'll end up tearing my hair out, so you're right. It's a conspiracy against WB and their shit tier film universe. How dare they.

If the movie was good, reviews would reflect that. The worst Marvel movie, hell the worst X-Men movie is still a competent movie. Suicide Squad is not. It's boring, a piece of trash and his one of the worst lines in anything ever with Killer Croc's BET line. It wasn't fun. It sucked the fun from me, it is bad. Not bad meaning good but bad meaning bad.

Afaik we've heard lots of reports about how Logan is shaping up (so good that Jackman wants to return possibly) and nobody cares about Transformers speculation.

While I do take this news with a pinch of salt since "insider" stories with films can be ridiculously overblown, I can't say I'm surprised at reading this since, well, Suicide Squad exists. What's more, why would they need to change their formula?

Their films are bland, inconsistent, and reek of behind-the-scenes disasters, but have any fallen drastically short in earnings? As long as WB can get people across the globe to pay-up and see these films, why worry about quality? We as fans are part of the problem as we keep probing them right by going and watching them.

Honestly, boycotting this film and DCEU, not out of spite or any discontent to DC, just fed up of this rinse-and-repeat WB keeps getting away with. There are other films to see.

Don't do that.

This is a story that didn't even appear in print. The lady mentioned this in passing on a YOutube panel show and said that this came from a "member of the community". She didn't identify this as a person who worked for Warners or DC.

If the film is terrible then it's terrible. I didn't pay for the fucking things, it's no bother to me.

But this is still a story from a single, unverified source. Everyone is jumping on it because they know that there is blood in the water for the DCU after BvS and SS.

I'm not claiming a conspiracy. It's common sense, pure and simple.

Agree wholeheartedly.

A friend of mine asked if Suicide Squad was considered bad by people who thought it would be more than a standard fare superhero movie. She hadn't seen the film so the question was innocuous. I explained it was a deeply flawed movie and not enough redeeming factors.

that fun little side project wasn't very fun.

oh wait, this is a wonder woman thread.
it will make a lot of money and that is all that matters to WB in the end, really.

There's no double standard, you're just mad. And that's ok.

I don't understand how people treat BvS MoS and SS's horrible editing problems like minor issues; as if it only weren't for the bad editing, these films would be excellent. Editing is probably the most important aspect of filmmaking and these films violate every rule in the book. BvS and SS in particular shit on the entire language of editing, which is not surprising given how much the suits at WB like ripping apart and reassembling the films to suit whatever they think their business needs are. If they treat Wonder Woman the same way, then the least surprising thing in the world is going to happen again. People wonder why Marvel movies get a pass as if there's some kind of double standard, but the reality is that those films are always competently assembled and coherent even if some of their scripts are lacking.

You should care, because not knowing makes your rant sound ridiculous.

The difference between a fresh review and a rotten review is 5/10 vs. 6/10. If a majority of critics were to give Man of Steel a 5 and whatever Marvel movie a 6, is that really so outrageous?

Also, I think folks underestimate the power of having story with an iota of thought put into it. It doesn't even have to be a coherent story all the time, but you want to leave making stories like that with people who can delve into the weirdness while conveying a message.

I think the Marvel movies are boring for the most part, but they at least make sense. They're not going to go weird. That's fine even though I wish they'd experiment a bit more.

I have no idea what DC is doing except printing money.

That's pretty outrageous, yes.

Remember when the "insider" rumors were coming out before Batman v Superman and there was a concerted effort to hand wave those away because they weren't "legit sources" or when it was Drew McWeeny the narrative was "What does he know anyways"?

I'm generally not a fan of hard and fast rules about "if you like x then I can't take you seriously"

but I can't wrap my head around hating the MCU and then stanning for Suicide Squad. I simply cannot take such opinions seriously. That's some of the most hypocritical bullshit I've ever seen when it comes to subjective opinion. Like what you like, love what you love, but try to have a little self awareness.

They need to do a clean sweep of the people up top. They don't understand what makes superhero movies great. They just want to rush shit out and get that Marvel money. They could have made so much money if they just gave a shit.

Man some of you have completely gone off the deep end. Film critics have a vendetta against DC films. Of course they do. It couldn't be that they're just bad films.

If it's self-aware, it ain't stanning

why do you think there is a double standard

Because that is what fanboys do. Or deluded critics youtubers like Grace Randolph who believe the media have conspired to only allow one brand of superhero movies to suceed: Marvel. As if quality and doing things people like had nothing to do with it.

Not quite. Difference between a fresh review and rotten review is the reviewer choosing fresh or rotten.

Obviously, there's no way to answer the question "why do you think the entire film industry is rating this studio's superhero movies higher than the other one even though the other studio's movies are obviously better" and continue to appear sane.

I hated Suicide Squad too. The best part was seeing Batman fuck Will Smith up.

Yeah I can agree with that. Snyder's movies really set themselves apart from the mcu. I liked BvS a lot more than the majority of Marvels output

But suicide squad just felt like a really shitty attempt at getting that mcu feel.

It's not really stanning if they enjoy the parts it does well. The hyperbole against SS is really something else in this thread. For a movie that had incredible legs, it's just weird that the narrative is that the movie was an abomination with no redeeming values. Obviously something was done right if people went to go see it.

One could say the same thing for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

You're telling me you've never disliked anything that was popular?
