Well, actually, his turnout is slightly lower than Bush's SECOND inauguration. You know, the one after he started a war the public hated him for.
And he still had slightly more numbers than Trump.
I mean, it doesn't matter, you are right. Just saying. This is not "normal" numbers for a first inauguration.
Barack Obama, 2013: 1 million
Barack Obama, 2009: 1.8 million (generally considered a record for people on the National Mall)
George W. Bush, 2005: 400,000
George W. Bush, 2001: 300,000
Bill Clinton, 1997: 250,000
Bill Clinton, 1993: 800,000
George H.W. Bush, 1989: 300,000
Ronald Reagan, 1985: 140,000 tickets sold, but record cold moved the swearing-in ceremony indoors
Ronald Reagan, 1981: 10,000, according to the New York Times. This was the first year the ceremony was performed on the west side of the Capitol.

Love that they try to split people up to kind of fill each section to make it look full from the podium trump is speaking from.
It was bizarre seeing a couple of people lie about it here. "I just saw it live on TV. It's filled in."
As if we weren't watching ourselves.
well they showed up at the polls
Gotta wonder what the bar scene around DC was like.
Someone was going to do this. Might as well have been me.

Obama's inauguration was historic. People came from all around the world. He was a global phenomenon and a cultural/charismatic icon the likes of which comes across once or twice in a lifetime in the political sphere.
Why anyone would compare the crowds to Trump's inauguration is beyond me. Hillary's would have been huge because of similar historic significance, even with her pathetic approval ratings. But you know what, guys? She lost. And staring at pics of 2008 and saying "we had a bigger crowd" isn't going to change that, sorry.
That's still too many people.
Trump has constantly said his win was historic and how he got huge crowds together. But on his actual inauguration, he couldn't.Obama's inauguration was historic. Why are blind idiots acting like it isn't true then?I don't know why people are acting like this was a surprise. The Obama inauguration was a historic, once in a lifetime event for a president that was liked on both sides of the fence pretty well.
Trump is just another white dude and he has his supporters but it's not even comparsble in terms of significance and Obama really inspired people in huge numbers to get out and support him.
Feels like the Trump supporters could use this:

Isnt DC is a predominately liberal city? Who the hell travels cross country to be at a presidential inauguration.

Is there any voter regret amongst Drumpf voters? His approval rating is 32%...
Someone was going to do this. Might as well have been me.

I'd make the argument that so many Trump voters weren't diehard supporters like people assume they are. Probably like half of the people voted for him just casually didn't want to vote for a woman, or thought they were voting between "two evils".
I hope none of this information was tweeted out by a government organization or they would have their twitter privileges taken away like the Park Service after they dare state that no one showed up to the concert Thursday compared to Obama's even 2013.
