DA:I reference where the Hinterlands had like a million and one things to do and even having to go back a couple times, rest of the maps only had a few scattered things to do.
VA honestly isn't too bad besides a few people, from the previews I've seen anyway. I guess what's mostly jarring is VA isn't generally an issue at all for Sony games, its the last thing I would think is an issue. Besides QD games.

Start at the 4 min mark. VA is good and writing is completely fine. Watch the whole vid if you wanna know how it places, it's pretty good (the vid that is)
It's obvious these people are based on native american tribes.

Fuck, this, Zelda and Mass Effect within a couple of weeks.
Just seems pretty standard and underwhelming to me. That's likely a very small side quest anyways so I don't want to make too big a deal of it, but it isn't exactly raising my confidence given the studio's writing pedigree.https://youtu.be/oKIEeglflfQ

Yeah the VA for the sister is decent. Like I said before, most on here are fixated on one scene and are completely ignoring the other scenes that are actually decent-good.
What a time to be alive
One of the best years of my gaming life.
The tone of this scene is all....wrong. Why is the music so relaxed and almost whimsical in a scene like this? And the voice acting sounds awful. x_xHere's a mirror of the cutscene as the videos went down: https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/826088858810998785

In a post-Witcher and Uncharted world I just expect more out of gaming. Stuff like Rise of the Tomb Raider doesn't even cut it for me and that was better than this. I can still enjoy the game (like I did with Tomb Raider) but my expectations couldn't be much lower for HZD.
Ashly Butch has done some really good work so the direction just seems to be off for Alloy based on what I've seen today. The tone of her responses don't seem to connect with what the other person is saying or doing.

There's competent voice acting and animations in this game. What happened here?
What's extra weird to me is that this would be a side quest they'd want to show off at a preview event as if it's indicative of the variety of quests and/or shows some of the 'depth' of the game's writing. I hope it's an outlier. The tone of this scene is all....wrong. Why is the music so relaxed and almost whimsical in a scene like this? And the voice acting sounds awful. x_x
I'm all in for the "make every animal a robot".If its not in this game i want them to put a giant Frog robot in the more then likely sequel.

I think I'll turn off the hud.
Have GG said anything about difficulty settings?

Easter egg Robo Sharktopus.![]()
I'm just glad the main meat of criticism are on cutscenes and stuff and not the stuff I actually have to play honestly. I can look past some wonky cutscenes, I can't look past bad gameplay

Considering GG "never made good gameplay" than yea it's pretty funny nowSay it.
Which is funny considering the "lol, GG" comments prior to and how people were worried about GG delivering on gameplay and what not. The fact that the bulk of criticism is on cutscenes bodes well for sure.
I already have. Seems kind of meh all around

In a 25 hour open world RPG no one is going to be fixated on that stuff. People will be too busy playing the game.
Yeah, having watched all the previews so far, I have to admit, I think I was being a tad harsh. Perhaps I was thrown out by the slightly wooden facial animations. I don't really care any more though, I've seen enough to know I'm going to love exploring this world.
I didn't think that (Brom) scene was particularly bad anyway. Its a side-quest in an open world game; not a pivotal plot-driving sequence, so expecting the direction to be as intricate as say one of Naughty Dog's impeccably shot and edited cinematics is plain unreasonable.
That, in conjunction with the subject matter just makes it a soft target for people wanting to take cheap-shots.
Disagree about TW3. I think there are performances in that game that are some of the best this gen (Geralt, Olgierd, Vlodimir, Baron, Gaunter, Regis, others). Maybe I'm wrong but I expect TW3 to be much bigger than HZD and then I'd expect the latter to be a much tighter writing and VA experience.I mean the VA does sound standard and it odd that you bring up Witcher 3 when the VA was nothing to write home about either, it was the writing that was airtight.
I could be wrong, but you seem to have you mind made up about Guerilla and their writing and VA which might be affecting how you are taking in the dialogue. I had the same trepidations as you and after watching the walk through and imagining what I would think of it was another dev and I came away impressed.
There's a very hard mode which means at the least pretty much all machines kill Aloy in 2 hits.
Will check that out. If it isn't frustrating, then it'll be my first playthrough. There's apparently a "very hard" setting. So it will probably be about normal difficulty from the PS2 era.

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/201...we-discovered-from-playing-horizon-zero-dawn/Don't take any creature, great or small, for granted. You can be quickly kicked to death by spooked herds, and even a Watcher's single tail swipe can half your health. Harder difficulties will increase that damage, as well as removing aim assists, and you'll find resources are scarcer

And Guerrilla seems to have nailed the type of gameplay that will draw in fans of Far Cry, The Witcher, The Elder Scrolls and Watch Dogs on its first stab at the genre.
Sorry, 17 pages.
Can anyone just give me a quick response of generally how the outlets are responding to the game?
I only watched Kinda Funny and they liked it. Is everyone else generally positive?
