Horizon Zero Dawn - Preview Thread [Up: All Previews Live]

It doesn't sound like that's his natural speaking voice. It's not my fault media production has made his voice sound generic and cliche at this point. You aren't him lol, why are you so offended?

Me offended? Excuse me, it's YOU who's defending Horizon in this thread from many of the negatives that some posters are bringing out.

All I did was pointing out was that YES it is his natural voice just like Elias Toufexis in Human revolution and Mankind divided.

Edit. I take it back the guy who voices Geralt, Doug Cockle it's not his natural voice.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but I really hope this isn't indicative of the general level of voice acting in the final game.

Having not had much interest in the game this was the first time I've heard voice acting from it. Talk about a first impression.

Is not, there are other scenes that show good acting and animations (not mindblowing of course), but it exist so it might be some other instances like that one.

And you're not sure enough that this has been discussed before. :P

Seriously... I'm impressed by the mental gymnastics on display haha. Show me one game that keeps everything rendered and displays it all at the same time. Show me just one.

I won't hold my breath.
Reality doesn't even do that due to Earth's curvature, and atmospheric light scattering, lol. You can't see into the infinite distance.

Bad voice acting is a staple of RPGs at this point. From Skyrim, Mass Effect, to The Witcher 3, they've all had some shitty VAs at points.

These side quests probably go through a shortened time frame, so not a lot of time for re recording lines.

I am genuinely curious and this happened twice this day, you guys said that this is the first time you are seeing any story/clip/voiceacting. and both of you pointed at the same video , which has really weird acting overall, i am really curious how did you guys come across this footage only and not others. Or are you a victim of the trend to share the worst over the twiiter. the coincidence with both of you is really fascinating.

There is tons of others voice acting previews as well , if you already spoiled yourself , also check out them , they are not great but far better than this footage .

Tbh, I'd honestly be very impressed and surprised if Horizon manages to ship with a stable and near locked 30 FPS. In an open world game, I feel like that's generally very rare outside of a few titles like MGSV and so on.

The video is funny and bad so yeah there's more reason to share it than average voice acting.

Same thing with Yakuza, with a lot of people finding out about game from the chicken video since it was funny and shared.

Yeah, I know they are getting the day 1 patch ready too. So, hoping everything is mostly fine by launch.

Of course, a single framedrop will cause chaos here. :P

yeah that is what i was wondering. with heaps of new and better footage, gifs and clips to share , why people only coming across this clip again and again?

Well you brought up this is his voice like you were bothered by it, so I thought you were tired of hearing that or something I dunno...

I'm just telling people to not judge a game based on one cut-scene, and I know it's some posters that are just trying to crap on an exclusive, so I do it to clear the air of FUD as well.

No worries mate

Well, the hilarious cutscene went viral so I'm not surprised that people found that tiny video over the internet... I guess is easy than seeing 40 minutos of gameplay and stuff, although they would do it if they were interested in the game, unless they're on a media blackout.

Here are examples of animation, VA and dialogue in the most recent RPGs. I dont see how anyone who are fans of these games can say how its much different/better.

Witcher 3 is clearly the best. The others? Not so much in comparison to Horizon. Curious to see what you guys think.

I've got to say the NPC visuals for Horizon are a cut above...visually the game is just hitting all the right notes in my opinion. I am thrilled we are getting rpg visuals like this, and I was also very happy with Witcher 3 and FFXV visually speaking. Great time to be playing games.

Did some criticize the size of Aloy's hands? lol

Yep, her fingers were too long or something like that. I think he/she even went to the effort of cropping a screenshot and drawing a line to demonstrate.
I'll try and find it, but can't remember the thread it was posted in. Think it was the Zelda vs Horizon one.

Nah dude. It doesn't just look that way, it is that way.

Let's take a closer look

Q7K4bwZ.jpg

If I may direct your gaze to the highlighted red, you can see that the forearm tapers into it at one end, and widens at the other end into a palm/backhand. This is consistent with human wrist proportions. There is no way the armguard covers the hand, unless Aloy's are grossly misshapen. That's her wrist.

With this in mind we can now compare the backhand area with her fingers (green highlight). As you can see, they are abnormally, one might say hideously long. What's worse is we can already tell this despite the fact that they are curled around the bow, meaning they are even disgustingly longer when not.

Don't wan't to believe me? Focus on her middle finger. It's stupidly lengthy.

As small an issue as this may be for most of you, this is an undeniable fail on the part of the graphic/character designers, for a game that supposedly tried to depict humans in realistic detail as AAA games usually do. It's a shame that tens of millions of dollars likely went into Horizon's development but their models can fall prey to such abysmal oversight.

i replied to him but he didn't budge.

i think this is a perspective issue, The game character is not a work of one designer or modeler , it goes through with different people at different levels , The whole rig system and animation system depends on it. So it will not be just some oversight on part of a single person .

Instead of this particular image we should check the new videos or photos to get the other perspective. Personally i don't think this is just some oversight , she is the main protagonist , Unless this is a design decision on there part.

some images.

I would never be a game developer. Some of the things people complain about are just downright ridiculous and embarrassing.

Anyway, looking forward to this game for sure. Should be a good one.

Imagine having worked 5 years on something, and then having this idiotic clip circulate, along with people seemingly basing their opinions of the game on it. Must be like having a thorn in your eye.

The screen is plastered with all kinds of junk. Not good. Can it be turned off? And lol at markers.

You can customize the UI to your preference, and even turn off the markers.

Please sony, delay this game a month.

Im having a hard time choosing between zelda and this.

How about no? That'd put it right into Persona 5's timeframe. Persona 5 was already delayed out of between Nioh and Horizon. Horizon had its release date first between in and Zelda :p

Are you one of those who don't like to play games past launch hype or something? clearly Zelda is priority for you, so buy Horizon month/s later. It will be cheaper too.

Yeah, I think most devs would probably try and avoid message boards and the like. Too many dickheads looking for any excuse to shit on your game. It's also why feedback is mostly useless, you don't know what's genuine and what's just some manchild with an alterior motive. Just another reason to ignore what people say and just make the game you want to make.
