I watched a few of the preview things but is there any new gameplay videos where it's not being talked over? I want to hear the game sounds.

I never pre-order or buy a game day 1, but I've been hyped as hell for Horizon ever since I saw. This will be the exception.

£37.5 is not that bad for day 1 anyway!

The skill tree doesn't give much hope for that. Other than a couple of instant stealth takedown varients there aren't any real melee skills to learn. I also haven't seen any melee weapons other than the basic starting spear yet (though it's possible I just missed it) so I'm not expecting much variety in that regard either (probably just a basic progression of slightly more powerful spears, maybe some elemental ones).

Either way not an issue for me personally (bow play looks plenty good enough to keep me satisfied) but I wouldn't go in expecting much from the melee until proven otherwise.

Actually, there are a few melee skills, and we've seen multiple Spears (and the Spears have the same rarity system and customization slots other weapons have).

Geoff Keighley said the melee combat is pretty good in his video, my main concern with melee is the lack of different types of melee weapons, like an axe or a broadsword.

I think melee only viable on smaller robo and stunned robo.
It's not like thunderjaw is some slow moving boss that let you dance around it's back.

Horizon 2 with these kind of melee, please GG

What video? Searched but I couldn't find anything from him

Keighley said he took out a large Sawtooth with the Spear.

Have avoided pretty much all of the preview vids except for a couple minutes of Geoff's and the devs ps4/ps4 pro comparisons.

Think I may just play this on my OG ps4 and hold off on pro till the fall. Gonna be a long month of waiting...

If slightly better than mediocre counts then ok.

This, God of War combat is braindead, DmC combat is slightly less braindead, it's a shit game but it's the best you'll get in terms of combat when it comes to a western game, and even then the combat is kinda shit.

I don't have very high hopes for melee combat in Horizon. Thankfully its not the focus.

Those questions would still be rampant with an OP update. People don't read the OP lol.

Sorry, I haven't read or watched anything. I've just been taking part in the discussion/nonsense in this thread. Sanji got you though.
Man you really take the whole blackout thing seriously huh? I tried and I caved in
watched the ps eu video and it was glorious

70℅ nonsense/30℅ discussion
That goes for anything on the internet
dunno why this game is a special case though; with people trying to be the excitement police or whatever
You really should have been the one making this thread, Loud. OP's not getting updated; there are some missing articles and videos. Probably a slim chance but do you have a link to a video where she fought a bird like machine? I saw it a few pages ago but I can't seem to find it

But haven't you seen that cutscene? :p

Of course I did. That's way I will be waiting for it to be free on PS+

/s :p

Wasn't DmC combat developed by Capcom? or I'm mixing it up with re-release.

Game was developed by Ninja Theory. Their next game Hellblade looks like it will have a decent combat as well.

So how many different robo enemies have we seen for now?

Let's see:

1- watchers
2- thunderjaw
3- crabs
4- horse
5- bull/ox
6- big saber tooth tiger
7- small saber tooth tiger
8- giraffe
9- crocodile
10- big eagle
11- smaller eagles or maybe crows?
12- another flying bird
13- ground bird/chocobo :p
14- sniper cheetah
15- those non aggressive deer
16- big guys with huge green liquid containers
17- corrupter from E3 2016 demo
18- that giant machine from the last story trailer

I'm sure I missed some.

Edit: I forgot about that big boar(or bear?) from pre E3 2016 trailer

You guys know you can link to a certain time in the video by right-clicking and "copy url at current time" right? Makes it easier for people, especially if it's a longer video.

Where did you get that from my post? People can't talk about their concerns without being questioned about it...

You stated it yourself that your concerned about the character talking to herself too much. Judging by the previews she certainly does a lot of that. I just wrote you might not enjoy the game if that bothers you.

The variety of Robo Dinos in this game is most impressive.

Seriously. It's reaching Pokemon levels of hype for me. Can't wait to see what other crazy stuff Guerrilla has in store. Robot elephants? Dragons? Wolf packs that merge into a giant beast?

Wonder if anyone can answer this; if I destroy a part of a robo animal, do I lose that item they're carrying and vice versa? Cause that would be a nice little touch; being careful of how you finish off an enemy and all

if they count variation as separate machines, we might have seen most of the robots. if not, maybe there'll be around 8-10 more unique machines.

it's different depending the component, the blaze canister for example are flammable, if you hit it with normal arrow, it will detached from the machines and you can pick up the item. if you hit it with flame arrow, it will explode and deal fire damage to surrounding area.

attacking a specific part can also make the machine to lose some of their attacks. like Bellyback can't shoot fireball anymore if you destroy it's neck area

Ah so it's a pick your poison type of situation; make quick work of the enemies but lose the loot in process or face a tougher fight and get valuable items
Game looks amazing especially on Pro. I'm gonna just roam around the world just checking it out. Probably ride around and take photo's.

Heh hermen did say that nature documentaries like planet earth was one of his inspirations for the game

Yeah I forget about a few skills, watching the video again there does a pear to be a few like precision and strong strike. Still very basic stuff that won't do a lot for a melee build. Spear systems sounds exactly what I was expecting though I'm glad to hear their in higher volume than I thought.

Again though, I'm really not expecting much for a viable melee focused build. It might work alright against smaller foes but will probably fall apart when facing larger robots. I suspect only high level players will be able to pull it off as a kind of challenge run. Melee really is intended to be complimentary to your many ranged weapons.

according to this , there should be 26 machines in the game?
I forget which video but in one the devs said "25". Looking at that screen, the 26th symbol (the cross through the circle) doesn't appear to resemble a robot so that fits.
