Yep. I expect Spawn, Sub Zero and Hellboy lol.
My hype for this game legitimately goes down (a little) when I remember Spawn and Sub-Zero are going to make it.
Scorpion making it to I1 was probably one of the worst days of my gaming-related life. Felt like the world had turned upside down or something.
I just pray to every God that they aren't as excessive with guests this time as they were with MKX. Two is more than enough.

It's Batwoman's time to shine. She's had a critically acclaimed and successful mini-series, a long asked for on-going that delivered quality in spades (until the creative team were forced off the book) and an animated stand-alone film welcoming her into the Batfamily. After the success and popularity of Detective Comics Rebirth, as co-lead of a team of popular Bat-family members, she also has another solo on-going.

Don't worry about Captain Cold, not only was his gun in the first trailer but he was in that twitter poll along with Swamp Thing and Blue Beetle.
1. Bane is a martial artist that takes inspirations from Luchadors, AFAIK he's not a wrestler.
2. Maybe but tech that changes body shape could be applied to anyone from the Red (Animal Man or Vixen) as a visual queue and is just as exciting if not moreso.
3. Maybe but IIRC some really liked Grundy and he's not in.

Can't agree with this more. Two is absolutely enough. The only consolation is that maybe their guaranteed sales will push NRS to deliver more DLC outside of the 9 announced.
I mean, he's obviously not a professional wrestler, but he's best known for using a backbreaker on Batman. The style fits him in a fighting game.

Bane's appearances outside of the comics never seem to aspire higher than lackey. I hope NRS at least do something interesting with him this time around.

My hype deflates when I think we're getting 3 DLC characters that are guests and one being Red Hood meaning 5 chances for any number of characters I'd love to see.
My frustration at the amount of Batman characters stems from my love of DC comics, my love of NRS, and the fact that I have to wait 4 years if a character I'd like to see didn't make it but I have to look at Bane and Catwoman being in. DLC is basically my only hope at this point and I''m almost certain Red Hood is one so my chances just lower and lower to appease a fanbase that already takes up nearly a third of the roster.

Bane, in all honesty, is super boring. He's essentially Doomsday in terms of notoriety as he's mostly just known as the guy that "broke the Bat" as Doomsday is known as the "creature that killed Superman".

Exactly. I don't understand it. He is far more interesting within the comic book medium where he is written more often than not, as a legitimate threat. Of course there are stories where Bane is no more than a dumb brawler, but those are generally awful.
Not only is Red Hood another Batman character, but he uses weapons and abilities that the other Batman characters in the game already have. Hes redundant beyond belief. Hopefully Boon doesnt cave in to the demand.

4 Chances. Of these 4, I want Static and Vixen. Vixen has a good chance, but I don't expect to get either.

It's better to expect Red Hood and not be disappointed, than hope he's not part of the Season Pass.
I'm cool with Manta considering Aquaman has no other representation, Vixen should've made it in over Catwoman.

I'd have been okay with Vixen replacing Catwoman, but she is too heavily tied to the Batman brand for that to have happened.

Black Manta should have been part of the starting roster, but I too am very happy that he is a strong contender for the Season Pass.

I doubt they'd put an Image AND a Dark Horse comics character in a DC game. Would be kinda crazy though, however much I despise guest inclusions.

Harley has, is, and will always be more popular than Lex. It's not even comparable. She's big enough to sit next to Batman/Superman/Wonderwoman, even DC themselves acknowledged it.
My point was that the general public didn't know who Harley Quinn was until last year. Lex Luthor has been a household name for four decades. Joker and Lex Luthor are the go-to supervillain references for people who don't know anything about comics. Jimmy Kimmel did a Donald Trump Lex Luthor parody just the other week.
What does this mean? Sit next to them where?

Edit: actually, I'll extend that, I don't think she got super popular until the late 2000s so for roughly a decade.

Same, I had recently read Aquaman new 52 when this game was announced and craving Black Manta after that. Him being a stage transition was pretty disappointing but it seems like they are not ruling him out as a season pass character.
My real gripe with this game though is I wish it was more... flashy? bigger special attacks and what not. Seeing these little ball projectiles is so disappointing. These are super powered people (most of them) we can be a bit bigger than this NRS!

Nah, Harley's been rising to popularity before that. She was the most dressed up as Halloween costume for two years in a row for a reason.
Sit next to them in terms of popularity/icon status/sales. DC called her the "Fourth Pillar" to the big three.

That reason being Suicide Squad, like I said. And I'm not suggesting that she isn't popular -- I just wouldn't call her DC's second most iconic villain. It takes a while to get to that point. Let's see if she's still recognizable in 30 years.

There's definitely a good chance of getting Spawn given previously released information but I'm unsure about Hellboy. Wasn't he just on a Twitter poll from Boon? But then again so was Buffy. It's hard to tell sometimes when Boon is just throwing out ridiculous ideas to troll people. I really hope the majority of the 9 DLC characters aren't guests, that would be ultimately disappointing but I can see it happening

Ed Boon is a huge troll, so I could also see him using some of these polls to mess with us. How does the licensing work for guest characters? I'd imagine the logistics of the licensing deals to be a mess.

Spawn was an option back during development of Kombat Pack 2 IIRC. Bunch of the artists and writers behind Hellboy retweeted the poll IIRC.

I know about Spawn's status as an option for MK X, but the tweets might not count for much. It could just be the artists and writers having some fun and promoting/repping their property. Boon has used Twitter to troll in the past, I'm not saying he is now, but we can't immediately assume every poll choice is a legitimate candidate for the Season Pass. Sub-Zero, Spawn and Hellboy are the most likely guest characters though, obviously pending licensing deals and red tape. I can't say I'd complain if Buffy made an appearance; I love Buffy, but of the choices Boon proposed, she'd have the least flashiest and interesting move list.
Well there might be a damn good chance of Hellboy then. I imagine licensing to be a pain, too but if you look at the MKX guests don't they come from different companies? I mean, Alien and Predator are Fox and Jason is New Line (WB), where as Leatherface is Lionsgate. So I can definitely see if given the right sum, the companies would allow characters like Spawn and Hellboy.
Also, I was watching some video of the Injustice 2 Mobile game and it seems like Scarecrow has a dash attack using the scythe and rope. Seemed incredibly similar to Lobo's chain dash attack. Maybe he'll have more lobo style moves?
EDIT: don't give up hope yet, Slaythe. You may very well get Buffy haha.

I'm still thinking Ra's Al Ghul will be involved in the story in some way. NRS kind of repeats these thematic elements in their stories so I can see something along the lines of Quan Chi's resurrections applied here.
By the way, when are you usually playing online? We can try to go to player match and keep declining until we get put together. Couldn't believe it but a guy who was watching my stream and I managed to get paired up in about 4 tries haha.

I didn't even notice that. Well spotted. That definitely gives NRS the freedom to change Scarecrow up.
As for your theory, it sounds completely plausible, but it doesn't make sense for Ra's to be absent from the roster if he plays such a pivotal role. Unless he is operating purely from the shadows and not directly involved in the events of the story. That's more symbolic of his character.
