Everyone's complaining that BOTW looks "ugly", and I can understand that viewpoint kinda, but honestly, I have to wonder how expensive this game would be if Nintendo designed it on super high tech hardware like the PS4 Pro or something.
The Risk Reward is Ludicrous, Mistime it early and you die, Mistime it late and your shield explodes and you potentially die. But get it right, and you feel like you can conquer the world.
Amazing. Finally somebody does something against a guardian. Every other encounters has a game over screen.
Since licensing is usually 30%. They'd need to sell 2,600,000 copies.I'd imagine Nintendo takes home a bigger piece of the pie with each sale because it's first party. I wonder what the number of units would have to be if this game were made by some third party dev and sold on Switch.
Everyone? It seems to be the opposite. GAFfers and previewers may be critical of it technically, but most people say its an amazing looking game overall.

I'm not talking about the frame rate, I see a lot of people complaining about the textures looking muddy and the game generally looking washed out or whatever.
Just look at this thread.

Did y'all see the Polygon video, cool stuff in there, but I wish I didn't watch it.
You sure that's a regular arrow??So is a regular arrow to the eye of a guardian all it takes?

No, but if it isn't, is the choice always run then? I mean what if you're out of shields? I'm curious of the options to take these things down. Wonder if you can sneak up to them. You sure that's a regular arrow??
Nah they have health bars and I remember a video where an arrow to the eye took a sliver of health away.So is a regular arrow to the eye of a guardian all it takes?

I like it but many won't.Does the quietness of Hyrule Field in a lot of previews bother anyone else?
One of the things I loved about Twilight Princess when entering Hyrule Field was how the music started up really fast and made exploring seem exciting and adventurous. With there being such a lack of music at parts, I'm concerned that the game will feel significantly more dull than previous Zeldas. I've never seen a Zelda game this quiet before.
I'm just wondering which site got this? It's really quick, though.

There are ways to defeat a Guardian early. The earliest I'd say is taking a bunch of weapons and bow/arrows. You hit him in the eye with an arrow to stop it from attacking for a few seconds, then hit him a few times with your weapon. Repeat until it's defeated. One mistake and you're dead.
Is he...deflecting the laser beam??
Yeah.Is he...deflecting the laser beam??

Or Parry it to death, or Roll bombs under it to get at its weakpoint there, or bash it to death with a metal plate with Magnesis and Stasis, using Cryonis or Magnesis to block its shots if you can, or take a chance with your horseback strats weaving, or use other Guardian beams and weave between them to have them take each other out... the possibilities are tantalizing.
Yeah.
There's a gif of him doing it in a shrine too.

I've been wondering, but I don't wanna watch a bunch of videos and gifs so maybe someone can help me out here:
How in depth is the combat? Like, fighting hand to hand? Can smaller enemies move through your attacks and/or dodge? Is it easy to stun lock lost of enemies resulting in "mash attack to defeat?" Do weapons have pretty varied move sets with cool combinations of moves? How does parrying work?
I'm just hoping that one-on-one encounters can be clever and varied. I want to dodge through attacks and learn how enemy hitboxes line up with my dodge invincibility, and deliver cool critical attacks even on smaller enemies. Combat mechanics are some of the coolest part of action RPGs for me, so I'm hoping these things are as satisfying and surprisingly deep as the rest of the game and world.
