-=-=->S P O I L E R S<-=-=- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Spoiler Thread

If Skyward Sword is the first game in the timeline, this is definitely the last. This diary entry from the Zora King describes the events of OoT that occurred "way before the Calamity or the construction of the Divine Beasts"

Long, long ago... In a past more distant than even the Great Calamity or the creation of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta... There was a Zora princess named Ruto. We know that she was an attendant to the Zora patron deity and that she was a fair and lively girl, beloved to all. Around that same time, an evil man with designs on ruling the world appeared, bringing disaster upon Zora's Domain. It is said that Ruto then awoke as a sage, facing this foe alongside the princess of Hyrule and the hero of legend. Her achievements are remembered not only by the Zora, they are also forever etched in the history of Hyrule. The Divine Beast Vah Ruta, built ages later to face off against Calamity Ganon, was named in honor of Ruto. That the Zora princess-my sweet daughter Mipha-was chosen to pilot Ruta is surely the work of fate.

If OoT occurs before the Calamity even existed this puts it 10,000+ years later than OoT which is way too long for it to be pre-LttP. It's gotta be post-AoL or thousands of years after Twilight Princess or FSA.

Faith in dungeons restored...?

The dungeon is great in my opinion, and there are mission buildups to them, with mission in interiors with puzzles in it. So it's not just the dungeon itself. The dungeon is smaller than the past 3d zelda dungeons, but i thought it was pretty good, with good puzzles that respected your intelligence. I don't think everyone will love them, but if you put them together with the missions leading to them, i think people will love it.

I think it's pretty clear at this point they wanted Breath of the Wild to be the 'furthest' point in the series, past the original game and Zelda II, and be so far head in the timeline that it can basically be somewhere they can stretch out to new stories.

I kind of get the feeling in multiple ways they want Breath of the Wild to be a new start for the series... While it's technically the 'end' of the timeline as we know it right now, it gives a lot of signs they want to branch out in the new much further along time period they're establishing.

Hm, so it seems like the people of BotW don't think/realize that Ganondorf has anything to do with Calamity Ganon, if I'm reading into that correctly.

Wait you can marry Zelda? I think a lot of people will be happy if that's true....

FOUND UMii Village! It's Tarrey Town, definitely not looking like a DLC area. It's located southeast of Death Mountain and North of Hateno Village.

Perhaps you can settle here in the post-game. And then when your present-day Gerudo/Zora/Rito/Goron friends visit, they get their own Tarry Town variations.

Also, found this on firedin (literally just searched the UMiiVillage Marry line on google), but OBVIOUSLY TAKE WITH A GRAIN OF SALT:

Seems pretty likely that Link can marry someone based on the OST and the leak. No confirmation as to who, but Zelda is a likely candidate.

Link looks too young for getting married and doing all of the things that implies. I don't believe it.

I see someone hasn't played recent Fire Emblem games. Nintendo apparently doesn't believe in age restrictions for marriage.

I'm happy Urubosa's voice acting is decent. Most of the voice acting isn't really too bad except for Impa's and Mipha's, ugh.

Aw Zelda's voice acting is actually sort of cute, thank goodness.

Pretty sure Urbosa is voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell of RWBY, Camp Camp and Attack on Titan fame. She's great in RWBY as Weiss' older sister, Winter, so I'm not at all surprised that she's doing quality work here too.

As for the Marry Zelda rumors, I don't know if that's true or not. However it does seem like a lot of her leaked scenes with Link are romantically coded. So even if the game doesn't outright confirm a romantic relationship between them by the end of the game, I have a feeling it'll at least be rather heavily implied.

imagine, Zelda goes full Rune Factory and lets you choose between different candidates. I would really go for some team adventuring but I'd doubt they'd do that.

I figured this was as good a place as any to post this but speedrunner SethBling just went from Great Plateau to beating the final boss in 12 minutes.

No he didn't, he reached Hyrule Castle in around 12 minutes. He isn't allowed to show the Hyrule Castle boss sequence itself.

Also, that twelve minutes was JUST the journey from the Great Plateau to Hyrule Castle. It didn't include getting the paraglider.

It's nice to see that you don't even need to pass any dungeon, not even Hyrule Castle, to get to the Final Boss. I can assume what SethBling did (getting on top of one of those giant pillars around the castle) isn't something the developers missed since on top of the pillar there is a dead Guardian and a item. It's like the developers are telling him "Nice job finding this way to get to the final boss".

Oh my bad, the person who told me just said Final Boss. I assumed that's what he meant.

Fake news.

Don't have to be a dick about it.

Gerudoing it up.

I have no self control and I'm clearly quite late to this thread but I don't care.
I'm loving the artistic direction of the Gerudo in this game.
And the fact that they make Link crossdress makes their return all the more wonderful.
OuO
(btw, despite popping in here a few times this is the only thing I've legitimately spoiled myself on. I get cold feet every time I try to go through the thread. lol)

Well, think about it...all of the other leaders/pilots are dead (as are probably most if not all of the people in the world), you are just interacting with their spirits. Impa is like a bajillion years old, AND how would Zelda have survived the 100 year time span between when Calamity Ganon takes over and when the game begins?

If only there was another game where another Zelda did the exact same thing this Zelda did but for 10 times as long...

I feel like everyone's over 100 years old in this game. There was a Zora guard who was apparently over 100 years old and knew you before you went to "sleep".

Lifespans be FUCKED.

I guess i missed it but what did he not lie about? The secret ending?

He said that he made the game approachable from any angle; even if you wanted to run naked and screaming to the final boss from the start. Extremely ambitious, particularly for a Zelda title.

What happens when you arrive on the shores of eventide (the island speculated to be Koholint)

Ooh my.

So apparently the second trailer theme is Daruk's theme music. That's really cool. I can't believe I ever doubted the soundtrack for this game.

Bad voice acting seems to thankfully be the exception in this game and not the rule.

Completely different context, given everything we already know about this game/story. I think the hundred year time span is going to throw a lot more twists to us than we realize. I guess we'll just have to wait to play to find out. I've seen a few people/reviewers who say they have beaten the game but the either aren't allowed to or don't want to share any of the information about the story.

It's not a different context. In SS Zelda used her goddess powers to seal Demise at the Sealed Grounds for 1,000 years to buy time for Link to prepare to face Demise. In BotW Zelda uses her goddess powers to seal Ganon at Hyrule Castle for 100 years to buy time for Link to prepare.

Yeah, SS also has time travel mechanics that are part of the story. This one doesn't, except for the 100 year ago "flashbacks". Also, apparently in this game she spent her time (the 100 year span) attempting to contain Ganon in Hyrule Castle with her powers. So, she couldn't simultaneously be sleeping or whatever. Either she is dead in current time or she is Impa in disguise again.

Alright one of my speedrunner pals beat Ganon and saw the credits. He doesnt know the true ending yet of course, but it definitely looked like to him it was an unfinished one (I didnt ask for spoilers since I want to play myself). He couldn't find a strat to beat his final phase without beating the first dungeon and getting an item there, since no other weapon or item would damage him. Still possible there is a way, but as of now you probably need to beat at least 1 dungeon. No MS required though. Also the item needs to recharge so it took 9 minutes of camping in the fight to get enough hits in to kill him

A cool thing is that Ganon makes you fight all the 4 dungeon bosses in a boss rush beforehand. However if you beat a dungeon that boss is left out from the rush. So if you beat all 4 you likely only get Ganon himself. He estimates the game could be beaten in about 1h30m, so they almost told the truth by saying you can beat him asap. Not quite, but almost :P

Damn Thunderblight actually looked pretty damn hard. Don't know if it was just his armor and weaponry holding him back. Maybe needed a better shield too.
