Sony X800D well - reviewed, 4k+HDR TV with low input lag

Jesus it's that bad? smh

I wouldn't say so. I got A bravia from feedback in this thread. Granted its the 49xd8305 not the xd80 but I went in with the plan of buying the Ks7000 and tried that and the xd8305 in the viewing room both professionally calibrated and walked out with the bravia.

The black levels are perfectly fine they just aren't oled amazing.

Posted this in another thread. Horizon on the Sony 43" X800d, using the settings listed on Page 58 of this thread and in-game brightness setting of 40% (pics taken with Shareplay):

They aren't bad, but an led backlight just helps a bit. I usually have another light on in the room anyway so I don't really even use the backlights. In a completely dark room though the LED strip makes it like there is a light on in the room but it isn't distracting.

Game looks amazing on my X800D 49". Using the PS4 Pro.

I'm at work rn so I don't have my settings, also since most of these posts seem to be about the 43" model with the VA panel I'm not even sure if my settings would be beneficial.

Honestly, I have both the KS8000 and X800D. HDR is very similar between both. If you think HDR looks like shit on a certain game on this set, it will look pretty similar on the other set.

I agree, and people may not realize that HDR has to be properly mastered for that wow effect, it is not something thats a light switch. Some games have much, much better HDR than others.

The Witness HDR implementation >>> TLOU, UC4 for instance.

Have had the 43 inch for about a month.

Primary purpose was to use as a pc monitor but I may also hook up my ps4 once if I feel like I need my gaming in one room.

Honestly for the price it's fantastic and rivals the JS8500 I have in PQ other than its lower peak brightness and lack of any dimming (also glad my expensive at the time JS8500 is still relevant, at least in my eyes).

I've been switching screens for my PC for the past two years, I'm finally satisfied.

Did you encountered any resolution issues that is caused by EDID? What GPU do you use?

thats odd.
what with them being the tech capital of the world n'all.

any reason why they dont have them?

Ment to say affordable.

The tvs on that page are wayyyyyyyy above the price range then the tv that talked bout in this thread

i thought japan was already starting 8k tests this year? lol.

They are......
which is why 4k is not a thing, everyone is waiting for 8k

No updates here. Order is still listed as 'dispatched'.

Same. Except the tracking no longer exists. At least when using royal mails tracking. Not 'information' not found'.

Hi folks, have you had any updates at all?

Mine is still showing dispatched for delivery next week. Tracking number still not being recognised.

There are now 5 reviews on the sellers page showing their order were cancelled

It would be nice to at least get the refund sooner rather than later

Nothing here either. Me bank is on the case and I should get the money back over the weekend.

Edit: best thing about all this trouble, is that I stumbled upon a great local deal for the KS8000(well, 7000 here in the EU), and that one is on its way and should be here Monday. Roughly the same price as you'd pay for the X800D, too.

Unfortunately the card linked to my Amazon account is a debit card; so I'm not sure what bank protection I have (it's a Nationwide Flexaccount). Unless the company issue a refund it sounds like I'm gonna have to go through the long game of the Amazon buyer protection unfortunately. I was always prepared for that; but I should have made sure I paid with my credit card really to offer some extra protection.

Good work on the KS7000.

Oh, well at least you'll get it back, even if it's gonna be a little while. If we're lucky Peacock will refund us suddenly today or tomorrow, If the other reviews are to be believed.

Can't very well buy Horizon before the 300 is returned, so I'm hoping they'll preempt the chargeback.

I don't think so? I can set 3840x2160@60 with no issues. The only issue I have is I can't select 4:2:0 10-12 bit on the X800D so I have banding on HDR games (shadow warrior 2) so there's that..

been having trouble w/ the remote lately. I've dropped the remote on the wood floors a couple times. So i thought i was screwed.

but apparently its just the batteries. I've had the TV less than 3 months and the batteries already dead. I guess its the voice remote function, which i admittedly use a ton.

just odd.....since i can't recall ever changing batteries in a tv remote in the first year...maybe even 2 tbh.

glad thats sorted

Yup. It is the constant bluetooth wireless connection, check for updates and the voice activation. I find the Sony has some of the best voice search so I don't turn it off, but it eats batteries quickly.

I still have the Toshiba OEM batteries in my remote I used daily since 2006 to 2016 but had to replace the batteries in Jan and and I only had this television since September.

Anyone else find the sound muffled and just... not great? On 10 and under here, and it's tinny and muffled. Did I get a dud set?

i think the sound is crap anyway. no mater what volume or settings.

rtings came to the same conclusion.

i wear headphones most of the time for gaming, and i dont watch any tv on the ..tv.

Anders, graybot... I just spotted this on the feedback page for Peacock Retail...

This is a response to everyone if you have purchased any item between 24th Feb to 1st March they was not sold by us amazon account was hacked and a fraud was committed by someone. We have raised this with amazon and have put the account on suspended mode until this issue is resolved.

By Peacock Retail on March 2, 2017.

Explains why there are no longer products on the store front. This better get refunded soon :(

So it's worth getting a soundbar?

I just ordered this TV yesterday

Hot damn. Thanks for the heads up! Good thing my bank recommended closing my card.

Try changing the HDMI sound output in the PS4 settings to Dolby Digital and raise the volume to around 35 or so. I was impressed with the sound--as far as TV speakers go--when I did this. I am referring to Horizon on the 43" set.

Thanks for the tips. I've identified one of the speakers as having loads of distortion and crackling - even on super low settings. I think I got a dud :(

I have a question regarding HDR with a normal PS4, Switch, etc.

Does enabling HDR improves the image quality of the games on these other consoles?
