I wouldn't say so. I got A bravia from feedback in this thread. Granted its the 49xd8305 not the xd80 but I went in with the plan of buying the Ks7000 and tried that and the xd8305 in the viewing room both professionally calibrated and walked out with the bravia.
The black levels are perfectly fine they just aren't oled amazing.
Make sure the seller is reputable and that returns/exchanges are easy if it ends up being DOA or exhibits problems when you receive it. Otherwise, you should be fine.

Which TV would you recommend then? I was thinking about KS7000 from Samsung (KS8000 in the US) but it seems new generations is coming in March/April. Plus, the price doesnt seem to go down.

Just got 10℅ off the 49" at Argos in the UK using the promo code TV10. £630 in total.
They aren't bad, but an led backlight just helps a bit. I usually have another light on in the room anyway so I don't really even use the backlights. In a completely dark room though the LED strip makes it like there is a light on in the room but it isn't distracting.
Posting them is pointless really. You don't see what it actually looks like.
I agree, and people may not realize that HDR has to be properly mastered for that wow effect, it is not something thats a light switch. Some games have much, much better HDR than others.
The Witness HDR implementation >>> TLOU, UC4 for instance.

Did you encountered any resolution issues that is caused by EDID? What GPU do you use?

Mine is still showing dispatched for delivery next week. Tracking number still not being recognised.
There are now 5 reviews on the sellers page showing their order were cancelled

Edit: best thing about all this trouble, is that I stumbled upon a great local deal for the KS8000(well, 7000 here in the EU), and that one is on its way and should be here Monday. Roughly the same price as you'd pay for the X800D, too.

Unfortunately the card linked to my Amazon account is a debit card; so I'm not sure what bank protection I have (it's a Nationwide Flexaccount). Unless the company issue a refund it sounds like I'm gonna have to go through the long game of the Amazon buyer protection unfortunately. I was always prepared for that; but I should have made sure I paid with my credit card really to offer some extra protection.

Can't very well buy Horizon before the 300 is returned, so I'm hoping they'll preempt the chargeback.

I don't think so? I can set 3840x2160@60 with no issues. The only issue I have is I can't select 4:2:0 10-12 bit on the X800D so I have banding on HDR games (shadow warrior 2) so there's that..

been having trouble w/ the remote lately. I've dropped the remote on the wood floors a couple times. So i thought i was screwed.
but apparently its just the batteries. I've had the TV less than 3 months and the batteries already dead. I guess its the voice remote function, which i admittedly use a ton.
just odd.....since i can't recall ever changing batteries in a tv remote in the first year...maybe even 2 tbh.

Yup. It is the constant bluetooth wireless connection, check for updates and the voice activation. I find the Sony has some of the best voice search so I don't turn it off, but it eats batteries quickly.
I still have the Toshiba OEM batteries in my remote I used daily since 2006 to 2016 but had to replace the batteries in Jan and and I only had this television since September.
i think the sound is crap anyway. no mater what volume or settings.
rtings came to the same conclusion.
i wear headphones most of the time for gaming, and i dont watch any tv on the ..tv.

I'm having trouble programming the Fios TV remote with this TV.
Try changing the HDMI sound output in the PS4 settings to Dolby Digital and raise the volume to around 35 or so. I was impressed with the sound--as far as TV speakers go--when I did this. I am referring to Horizon on the 43" set.

Same, any picture/color/brightness settings to use or should we be using default? I did the basic setup info in the op.

They have a bunch settings for the advance color temperatures but says that they don't recommend you using them because they can vary even if you have the same set.

I don't think HDR color data would transfer to the photo anyways, so using a photo comparisons for HDR and Non-HDR content doesn't work, unless I'm mistaken.

Exactly, and if it did you would need to be viewing it with an HDR capable screen.
the base should be flat to the surface.
but it will have a little wobble if you move the top of the tv. its only mounted on a plastic and metal stand.
