Evertide Island would be amazing if
it didn't send you right back to the start every time you died. After the third time being one-shotted by random bullshit I've just given up on the place for today. It should at the very least keep your progress if they don't want you to get stuck there without your items.

That's the beauty of it. Finally Zelda is offering a real challenge again.

The gyro ball maze puzzle had to have been sabotage. In a game this deftly designed there's no way the Shrine passed with a thumbs up from anyone. Especially considering that it isn't hidden away somewhere.

It's by far the worst part of the game for me so far. Just annoying and the gyro controls didn't really work with it IMO.

OMG @ the
riverside journey to Zora's Domain just like in Ocarina of Time
, only so much bigger and crazier, wow that was definitely a treat.

The gyro ball puzzle is amazing. Some alternate solutions I've seen in here:
1. Flip the maze upside down
2. Jump in the maze yourself and bomb the ball across the gap and walk it in
3. Fling the ball out of the maze

It's my favorite puzzle so far in the game so far. I love how there are so many ways to solve it.

I don't know what section of the game this is, but can you not do a manual save there?

(Don't look if you don't want a really cool moment spoiled. It's an island off the south east coast, I highly recommend finding it yourself first)
You arrive at an island and all of your items are taken away from you. If you die, even if you manually save, you get sent back to the start.

It's a great challenge, but the penalty is way too severe.

You should never be stuck there without items, the last auto save should be before reaching the surface.

I went up the hill facing Hinox, killed them, flew on his belly, got the orb, slowly moved away, placed it there. Then I climbed the mountain and used tons of good weapons on the shore like claymores and oar to kill everyone except the big dude. Then I'd sneak and push the thing covering the hole away, and place the orb on it. The last orb is below and to the left of the previously mentioned one guarded by three small guys. The hole for it is to the left of where it's found, by the shore. You'll have to make the sea ice to place it there.

Edit: That guy who is asleep has powerful weapons near the item you need to get

I just ripped a half-buried metal chest from the ground via magnesis but used too much force. It launched into the air and landed on me, nearly killing me lol

I ripped one out at the top of the mountain and it tumbled all the way down and into a lake. Glided down the mountain and had a tricky time getting it out of the lake. So many silly emergent moments in this game.

As I was playing it I realized it felt like a "traditional" 3D Zelda Inside of the open world.
When the game really focuses it can create amazing set pieces. I've gotten just past what you spoiled and I feel like the "real game" so to speak is really starting.

i'm at a point where i feel a little frustrated with how many things there are to do and sometimes you just see something and think i'll go there and discover on the way that's a bad idea lol.

I went at kokiri and saw that shrine on a mountain. But when i went there there was an other shrine and they are linked with some memory shit, but i couldn't reach the other one, and it was too cold.. i bailed out lol.

This game is putting zelda and nintendo on the map. It's been a while since i've seen so many people talking about zelda like this, the game is the second most watched game on twitch.

Anyone know the closest stable to hateno village? I have a horse I want to keep but I've never actually seen a stable.

I was talking to
Impa's granddaughter, when she mentioned that she was named after seed of a fruit her birthmark resembled. I had the option to ask where it was and Impa butted in and told to change the subject.
Cock-blocked by an old lady.

Take your clothes off and try taking to her lol.

So since I already did floor 6 and floor 20 then I'll need to go all the way to floor 40 to get all the hearts for my wolf in BotW?

Is there any way to use the amiibo to replenish hearts in the Cave of Shadows?

Yes, if you want to attempt to get 20 hearts into your Wolf Link amiibo, reminder that you need to end the dungeon with all the hearts without any loss.

Yes, you can use the wolf link leftover hearts in the amiibo and zelda amiibo to replenish your hearts.

Game keeps surprising me. I was worried it would get old but it seems to keep getting better.

The story seems to be better than the last few Zeldas, but I guess I'm still early on.

Holy shit.
I just wanted to discover the next shrine. But right before the shrine...there was an NPC....at first he was friendly but after talking to him he started a fight. I had no idea how to beat him but it was raining and there was a thunderstorm. Out of nowhere he was struck by lightning...and got killed instantly, lmao. This game!!!!

The sidequests are starting to pile up and I need to do something about it. This is what typically kills open world games for me, so hopefully it doesn't happen here!

Having been through two villages so far (not to mention random NPCs), I have no idea what those reviewers who said that this game didn't have the small town charm like OoT, MM and WW were thinking. It totally does. It's so darn cute.

Shrine Find Help!

OK, in the Lanayru region, where the
painter
says to go to get a memory back. There's a
minotaur there.
If you head west down the road to the river, there's a bunch of
green lizards and a shrine.
I can't bloody locate it though, it keeps beeping! I'm not leaving until I track it down.

Wow the gyro puzzles are kind of bullshit. I've tried with the Switch in handheld mode - closest to "expected" response. With the joycons in separate mode? LOL Nope.

Also, the gyro aiming... mine drifts to the left so I had to turn it off. Anyone else?

Sounds like you just ran into somebody from the
yiga clan, the clan that broke off from the shiekah and now serve ganon

probably around 17-18 physically, technically probably 117/118

Also I brought this up before, but there are some old ass people in this game, people who were literally there a hundred years ago

That's nothing new for this series. Niko managed to survive from Wind Waker all the way until Spirit Tracks and it seemed like a lot longer than 100 years passed between those games.

Agreed. We'd just seen so much of the Great Plateau that it wasn't too exciting (still fine), but then after that it started to gradually get better. I still think the world might be too big, like I can see how a condensed version of this world could've made for a tighter experience, but it's still majestic to behold. It's just that sometimes that doesn't make the best game design, and it is a game.

So with that said, going along the
river path with the Zora architecture
slowly revealing itself and expanding as you get closer to the domain with the enemy encounters and everything was not only epic, but actually fun, and it finally started to feel like completely new territory that I hadn't seen in any of the media so far. Hopefully the game keeps doing this sort of thing enough to where I don't feel like I'm tiring of just running around in super massive fields.

The fields are mostly fine as they make it feel organic but again it's just an open world design thingy that I've never liked. But I'll deal with it. I also do think that it's going to be a pretty streamlined experience just following the main story path. There's a ton to explore if you like but also a ton to ignore if you like. I do like that you're not absolutely forced to spend so much time wandering, a lot of it seems to be there just for you to check out but not necessary to progression.

I mean you can run to the finale when the game starts, so there's that.

Man this game man

Really funny, unconventional way I solved a Shrine puzzle:

The puzzle uses the controller gyro, and is one of those tilt-the-playfield-to-move-a-ball-through-a-maze games. Well I was getting annoyed at it, so I just turned the entire controller upside-down, and the playfield by extension. The underside didn't have any walls to navigate the ball through, so I just had to perform a much easier tilt to get the ball to the goal, all while holding my controller upside-down.

I dunno, I think that adds to the tension and sense of accomplishment. I love it.

You can buy an expensive gear (sheikah set) in first village that will let sneak really easily toward animals or craft stealth potions (require frog and any monster parts)

Oh that sounds great. That's outside of the starting area though right? Is it in the vicinity of West Necluda?

I rode a bear
Anything is possible

You serious? That's fucking awesome.

Are you using elixers?

Not yet but a woman did tell me about it. I still don't exactly understand it though. The times I tried to cook one it became dubious food.

By the way, why do horses seem so sluggish to control? Especially in narrow areas but in general they just seem to want to act up without any reason.

Are people alternating between hearts and stamina vessels?

I figured it would be the balanced approach, I dunno.

I did 2 hearts so far then going to do the rest Stamina. Im assuming it helps to have some hearts because when something way stronger than you hits you it could probably be a one hit kill regardless of defense

I did the same. I was playing wiimote style under my blankets so I was getting pretty pissed off at forced gyro puzzle. I was actually just timing my ball hit so that it flies into the slotted area

Since people are bringing up cool shrine solutions...

I got to a shrine where there's a balance/scale thing you're supposed to use 3 metal blocks and 2 barrels to make one side go up just enough to bring you to the end but not too high cause there's spikes right above. I said fuck that and just stacked them like stairs instead. I didn't think it'd work at first but apparently a barrel gives you just enough height to jump on a metal block even if you can't climb it.

Just got my sheikah slate upgraded at
Hateno
. I feel like I've played 15 hours and have barely scratched the surface. I get sidetracked so much lol.

So what does it mean when you cook food, and for example you get a dish with 3 hearts, but a small 5 on the first heart? (Not talking about the amount of items in the stack number)

Anyone got a clue?

BotW is perfect for this kind of behaviour, because even the most mundane, "non-progressive" exploration feels meaningful in some way. Traversing areas you've already been in for example doesn't have to be useless as the world is completely dynamic. You may stumble upon something that wasn't there the last time. Also there's plenty of value in just wandering about collecting stuff as it can be of good use.
Yeah, I usually don't like most new open world games, I tend to burn out just doing side quests and exploring. Might focus some more main story for a while now just in case, but I've enjoyed exploring various areas and seeing weird/interesting structures and enemies so far.

While there are seeds hidden in various ways everywhere, I'm a little bummed
I've only found 1 bombable wall so far, lead to a chest with a few rupees. Actually it was a bunch of darker boulders on a mountain side - not even into a small dungeon. I'm hoping there will be more breakable walls leading to cool stuff like in the old games. A heart container or such! ?

Someone mentioned the same thing happening earlier in the thread, and it happened to me today. Sneaking up on a Moglin and a Bokoblin sleeping, but the Moglin wakes up and sees me, but his weapon is too far away.
He picked up the barely-awake Bokoblin and threw it at me. Killed it, too.. lol.

This game is the best.

That is all. 13 hours in now according to the daily log but it feels like some of you lot are ripping through the game much faster, not that I can blame you. But all these spoilers, it's a minefield for the curious reader.

I don't want to rush it though, whenever I have 2-3 hours free and want some fun downtime to go adventure, I turn this on.
