so there's definitely a blood moon glitch. spent 2 hours last night trying something and every time it got close a blood moon triggered. put my console into sleep mode and tried again this morning. same thing happened. turned off Zelda and turned it back on again. bug fixed.

seems that not turning zelda off for long periods of time screws up the blood moon in conjunction with
the dragons

About the same time as you and I've only beaten one dungeon and discovered a quarter of the map. This game is huge.
I could have easily done that, but I thought I'd get through the story now so I can have it distract me from life a little less going forward. Going to be fun to pick up this from time to time and just explore.

SHit, sold all my bobokin horns in Kakariko Village to buy new armor, then didn't have any when I found the
fairy fountain
! Is it worth upgrading my armor now or should I wait till I find something better?

Also I just got
the blood moon dream sequence from Zelda
, how often do the monsters respawn and does the loot they were guarding respawn too?

Anyone?

You can always post any screenshot to miiverse, and get them on your PC that way. It's not as straight forward as on PS4, but yes.
You can open the web browser, go to imgur or some other image hosting site and paste the screenshot there.

man

imagine if they implemented an ocarina in this game

btw is anyone getting any use out of the rods against big enemies? they don't seem to do jack shit
I got an electric rod which was really overpowered during a storm. It was also extremely useful against small guardians in Shrine challenges. Rods are purely elemental damage, so they work specially well when you use them against enemies which are vulnerable to that damage, or in conditions that amplify their powers (tested elec in storm, I suppose the fire rod would get powered up in hot locations and the ice rod in anywhere it´s cold, but still haven´t tested it).

The controls do take a good while to get used to. Having B as sprint is shocking. X as jump.... B as attack... and roll is really gone? Lol

So far the only thing I couldn't figure out was the shrine to do with
star constellation
s. Had to ask Google for help :'(

I just beat the last boss with 4 armor, no abilities, no healing items, no bow, and a 1 damage weapon (spring loaded hammer)

I was hoping for a Korok ending. It never happened.
EDIT: btw this took 27 minutes. Not recommended.

Just beat the Zora's dungeon and it made me appreciate sooooo fucking much the sense of epic scale that the designers have been able to convey in this game.

Also this section made me appreciate also the ,at first, weird art direction they went with with the pseudo realistic but low res texture work mixed with cell shaded character design. When the lighting in this game hits the environments just the right way it can just be incredibly beautiful to look at.

I don't know, it's weird since I criticized this game so much for its aesthetics before launch because it can really look bad at times, specially in still shots, but after having played it I actually love all the different ways this game looks depending on the weather conditions and now I understand what the artists were going for in this game. The game can sometimes look super desaturated, foggy, bland on a dark rainy day and then look super crisp, vibrant and almost blindingly lit on a nice sunny day, we get the whole spectrum.

And all this gives such a sense of space and a feeling of being in a real fully dynamic and natural world. I think that's the best way to describe this game, 'natural'. The fauna, the flora, the weather, the NPCs, the survival mechanics, the physics and freedom of movement... they are all one and create the most immersive feeling I've had with a game yet.

That was the hardest one I've done so far too. Had no idea how to get the chest at the end.

I just encountered a shrine at probably the highest point of the game that I've yet reached. It tells me though that you need to solve a puzzle linked to another shrine - it's some sort of Marble / go game where there is a certain blue and orange pattern of the floor. Could you guys give me a hint, if I can still solve it even if I haven't visited the other one and if the other one is nearby?

That area is called dueling peaks for a reason ;)

It's pretty straight forward... there's another shrine near by.
Do exactly what the shrines say. I used my cell phone camera to do this one. A modern day take on having to write things down.

You can't solve it without the other one, and it's across on the other mountain. Might have to look down a bit.

You can swap sprint/jump in the settings.

What I don't get is why sprint can't be on the left analog stick and sneak on a face button. You want to sprint far more than sneak.

I swear Japanese developers really struggle with controls in general. They always implement odd control decisions.

for the first like 20~ shrines I thought: 1 shrine 1 chest is the rule
then I found 3 chests in 1 shrine. WHAT IF I MISSED A CHEST ALREADY.

Check the map, shrines will have a chest icon next to the name if you've found all chests.

Where? Can't find him there either. This is driving me crazy!

I found him in only 2 locations before he settled in the forest.

- On the pathway to Kakariko Village, where everyone first finds him.
- At a stable, next to the river, on route to the tower that reveals the area for the forest he lives in. If you're heading there from the direction of Zora's Domain.

After that, he was done and settled with his brethren.

I knew there would be a downside to the kids leaving home! There's a WiiU and a copy of BOTW 200 miles north of me and I'm living it vicariously through random text messages from the boy and through this thread.

Sounds like exactly my sort of game: (a) Zelda, (b) open world exploring and finding stuff by accident (c) absolutely massive for rabid completionist nutcases like me.

That's going to be probably about 2 years play for me when I eventually get my hands on it.

Blimey.

Keep up the good work GAF.

Just past the Great Platuea and while I am really loving it, there is a lot of empty land for the sake of making a larger map. I guess this provides a purpose in having a grander feel to your travel, but I felt with the Witcher 3 maps, while smaller, had more points of interest to discover, and had better 'exploration' density, especially with the HUD off (Though all up, do we know how much larger the map world is in this compared?) Sure of the lot the stuff was trivial like monster camps, which are present here, as well as chests, but the area do seem larger to navigate and when I tried to go of the beaten path it's mostly just grassy hills with a few wild animals here and there (would could argue this is better than being sent back in Witcher 3 when you went too far off the map).

It really does feel like a Zelda version of Wild Hunt at the moment for me, except trade in weaker side quests for better puzzles and world physics. Combat is probably better overall as well and I was one that enjoyed the combat in W3.

The only way to play.

I forgot where the Painter told me to look for the first memory.

Can someone help me remember? i looked at a guide and the picture I thought he showed me is not in Mount Lanayru like I had thought.

You are right and I've said the same before, the map is mostly rather empty. However, it's designed in a very clever way so that most players roughly follow a certain path if they want to get somewhere and this is done by putting various points of interests that attract the player while they are aimlessly wandering around, be it through shrine, a big city, a beast or an attractive and odd looking landscape. Through this they can make the player feel the urge to go there and explore and from there it's on to the next point of interest and so on. The fantastic thing about this is that it gives players a sense of exploration since they are always finding themselves discovering something.

People like to claim that there is no guiding of any sorts in this game but that isn't true, it's just that there are no map markers and icons for it and it's done in a subdued manner. If that were actually true then most players would spend an awful lot of more time aimlessly wandering without coming across anything that piques their interest, since as you say the map is indeed quite empty, and that would be boring.

no, you feel empty because you already miss a lot of content there, you don't have the witcher scense in this game. Pay more attention to the environment

The memories are in the location where the picture was took not where the picture is focused on.
It's by a stone arch near the mountain.

Getting really fed up with the weather mechanic. It rains so much you can't do shit because you can't climb during it. Of the 15 hours I've played 2 hours has spent just standing still waiting for the rain to stop so I could continue playing. Who thought this was a good idea?
