Wow!!!! So the ACA is actually OK with conservative groups such as AFP, Club for Growth, Heritage Action and FreedomWorks, that actually says something about the successes that the ACA has had.

Not exactly. By not consulting these groups, they pretty much doomed the bill no matter it's content. The insult of being cut out of the process is basically enough to make these groups oppose on principle.

That said, this plan isn't even really a plan. These groups are still financially conservative enough to reject a plan that doesn't include any real way to pay for itself.

It isn't dead its just the best offer thats ever going to be offered.

When the final bill passes the Dems are going to wish they jumped on this version of it .

hopefully we can get a standoff between freedom caucus burn-the-gov't-to-the-ground types and republicans from districts where people are actually benefitting from the bill, so that nobody can decide how much fucking-over-the-poor is the right amount.

Trumpcare vs. Obamacare

Ehh I wouldn't say that. Some of them are probably pissed off that Paul Ryan isn't repealing the whole law and telling sick people to fuck off.

This bill seems like the legislative equivalent of waiting to do your research paper until the night before it's due: Unsatisfying and full of obvious logical gaps that should've been caught in editing.

Of course they would say that shorter is better.

Its like in highschool when people pick the shortest book to review for their project.

Pretty much. As someone w/ employer health insurance it's nice to get a tax shelter for money to help cover co-pays and deductibles but there's no way it's going to help a poor person who is living paycheck to paycheck.

HSAs with high deductible health plans are also untenable for people with chronic health conditions. They only work for the young and/or wealthy.

"Defunding planned parenthood is better for women, it gives them more access to more robust choices for women!"

Like early and preventable death for pregnant women and women at risk!

lol "how are you going to increase competition for prescription drugs"

"we're going to increase competition by being patient centered and also competition is very important. Competition."

"Far fewer pages, thats 120 pages, Obama much bigger" oh for fucks sake. Like the fucking size of the bill has anything to do with how good or bad it is.

AHCA will be heard by the U.S. Senate if it leaves the House: https://www.washingtonpost.com/powe...2f721e-02e5-11e7-ad5b-d22680e18d10_story.html

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he will bring up the House's plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act should it pass the lower chamber, a plan that is facing mounting trouble given rising concerns about the bills among both conservative and moderate Republicans.

"I encourage every member to review [the legislation] because I hope to call it up when we receive it from the House," McConnell said Tuesday on the Senate floor.

"We've come a long way. We've got a lot further to go, but we're making significant progress. Working arm in arm with the House and the new administration, we're going to keep our promise to the American people."

McConnell made his remarks as conservative pressure groups revolted against the measures introduced late Monday by House Republicans and significant concerns in the Senate also appeared to be taking root. Four key Republicans in the Senate have expressed worries about the plan's possible impact on lower-income people who received Medicaid coverage through the Affordable Care Act's expansion of that program.

The four senators were split on exactly what proposals would meet their standards, but with 52 Republicans, McConnell would not have enough votes to pass a bill without the support of at least two of them.

"Obamacare served special interests and not the american people"

- Insured nearly 17 million american citizens
- affordable for poor and lower income
- regulated insurance companies from discriminating against previous conditions

As usual, the Republicans are ignoring those facts on the ACA and are talking out their collective asses about the ACA.

Served insurance companies over the people so well so many insurance companies bailed out of the exchanges!

I personally can benefit from this, but you kind of have to already have money for this to work. It does nothing to help the poor. If we are getting this in place of medicaid funding then I'll take the latter.

Yea that's what I meant from it. It'll help reduce taxes for me but it doesn't do anything for the majority of people. It's a tax shelter (which is why I use it)

The reality of that idea

Class dynamics in a nut shell. Rich people are much more prone to being deceptive, manipulative pieces of shit. It's the "Fuck you, got mine." disorder.
Doesn't help that a disproportionate number of people have accumulated that wealth due to being sociopaths or having sociopathic tendencies in the first place.

The Democrats doesn't think the AHCA is dead, just got this email from the "DNC War Room" at 1:33 PM EDT:

Fundraising for political causes only work if you think your enemies are powerful and perpetually just inches away from a critical victory unless you cut us a $100 check right now.

"Obamacare makes sure no one has a choice, we're giving back choice, now you have a choice. This choice is now your choice because we're giving you a choice when you didnt have a choice, the choice is yours and it's choice that choice choice choice choice!"

Judging by this Spicer press conference, they're going to try to sell this bill by avoiding talking about it and just scaring people with "Obamacare is about to explode!".

This raises the shit chicken or shit egg question.

It's only dead if Republicans feel enough political pressure to vote against destroying people's health care.

The lesson of 2016 is that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing.
