Is there something about the Faron region that causes it to have fucking thunderstorm constantly? I tried waiting by a fire in a cave and the weather immediately switched back to thunderstorm afterwards.

I just want to climb up the highest waterfall man :(
It's a jungle so it storms a lot, also might have something to do with the
giant lightning dragon that flys around there.

The costumes are actually pretty bad to use in the game. They require stupidly hard to get resources to upgrade and they only provide base armor values. They don't have set bonuses or any abilities, and other than maybe the TP gear, the costumes kind of clash badly with every other piece of clothing in the game since there's no real dye color that matches (and the box art armor can't even be dyed)

Which is a shame because green box art armor + Twilight hat would likely have been my go-to for this game, but they all just clash way too much

Yeah but that pales in comparison to be really really, ridiculously good looking.
Plenty of the amiibo aren't hard to find if you really want the costume.

Hmmmm, interesting.

On a separate note, my horse is stuck. I assume this means means its dead or can i register another horse at the stable I registered my now stuck horse at and they will take the stuck horse? They give you an option to take the previous horse you have into their stable so I assume this might work?

Nope, some regions are named after key characters in Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, like Linebeck Island. Pretty firmly in the Wind Waker timeline.

And yet there are clear references to the child time line in the actual story, so it isn't "firmly" in the Wind Waker time line because a lake is named after Makar.

There are references to things that never happened in the Wind Waker time line, like the Twilight Realm

I've been staying away from this thread (I really just want to discover things for myself) but I have to gush about this game in a way I haven't seen many others mention:

The lighting.

Seriously, there are just some amazing scenarios, e.g. where the sun will peak below an overcast sky creating this amazing glow. Or walking into the shadow of a mountain over a valley. It almost has this surreal quality that is unlike anything I've experienced in a game. Just beautiful.

Anyone know a good location for mining Rubies or are they random and I'm just getting unlucky? Found a bunch of sapphire but no luck with ruby

I feel like the radar for searching for shrines/etc. isn't that great. There's times when it has all bars but the signal goes on and off whenever you move.

Indeed. I also want those runes in any future Zelda. After BOTW I NEVER want to slowly push blocks around again. Either make me do a physics puzzle to get them to move or just make them metal. Magnesis is such a QoL improvement.
Magnets have been a Zelda item before.

I think they all suck tbh. Stasis puzzles often break your weapons. Magnesis is used to operate levers, move blocks and get chests from far out places. Bombs blow stuff up. Cryonis is the only clever one.

Cryonis is just a shitty Sand Rod/Sand Wand from Spirit Tracks and Link Between Worlds.

You can just straight up take your horse from the stable even though it's out already. I do this pretty much every time I quick travel.

How many Shrines have you done?

This comment only makes sense if you've barely gotten off the plateau.

Has anyone figured out if it is possible to force the Switch to run in 720p docked mode? Thinking about running the switch through my framemeister and upscaling to 1080p.

Great Plateau will be in Smash.

Link's blue outfit will totally be a costume choice in Smash too.

Given how different Link's abilities are in this game, I almost wonder if he could be a new character. Give him some new attacks based on the rune abilities, or the various types of weapons Link can use now. Like, have this Link as the "Link" of the next Smash, but have the existing Link character as an unlockable, call him "Classic Link" or something.

IIRC, there are some quests in that area that require lightning, so I think the game forces thunderstorms in specific areas.

Also,
there is a massive lightning dragon that roams the area
.

Yeah just noticed it immediately stops when I move away from one particular cliff, guess I'll try to go around it.

I know about Faros but I didn't find anything or anyone saying he was causing storms so I thought he wasn't related.

That moment when you're out in the field riding your horse at high speeds and then the classic Zelda overworld theme minimalistic-piano edition starts playing. LAWD

You don't need to register another horse, you can just ask the stable to bring you the stuck horse. You can also usually get horses unstuck by z targeting, which will let you slowly walk it in any direction

I beat the game...;____;

Duuude, it was so good. And yet, I wish there was more narrative, music and real dungeons.

I'm off to look for "Barta"...and having zero luck. Help?

I have 8 spirit orbs currently, and have upgraded my health once. Should I go all in on hearts, or upgrade my stamina? I'm still very early on.

It's possible because I am almost 100% the next Smash is getting a huge overhaul to keep things fresh and new.

I haven't beaten the game, but I feel this way too. For everything BotW knocks out of the park, there are lots of things it's lacking in. It will be easy to surpass BotW if a sequel follows the framework and adds what's missing. In the meantime, it speaks to the game's strengths that it accomplishes so much even without things I really want.

There is perhaps no series I associate more strongly with its soundtrack than The Legend of Zelda. BotW having so little music really leaves me wanting. Even moreso than missing dungeons and the light story, I pine for more music.

Part of me is in imagination over-drive wondering if they might add dungeons throughout the world in the slated DLC. Just make them part of the environment as if they were always there.

I'd recommend going primarily with hearts early on, there's a specific reason for that. You'll thank me later.

Speaking of dungeons, I feel theyve been pretty quality so far (Ive done 2: Zora and Goron). Short but fun and the Zora one had some really good puzzles, while Goron's had an interesting opening start that I wish they expanded on a little bit. Really I wish there were more but I have not found them to be underwhelming like a lot of other people have. I assume tis because I went in with those expectations in the first place.

Haven't played those games. I think the added verticality offers fun gameplay. Stasis controls are too inaccurate in my experience (every pinball shrine) and Magnesis is merely an extension of your arms. Would be more fun if you could hookshot your way like the Magnetic Gloves in Oracle of Seasons. Who knows? Maybe the shrines I haven't visited will offer better uses to solve puzzles though.

Playing this in my lunch break in my car is fantastic. I set up the night before a new area by getting a tower, then using my shrine map I put stickers in the area they should be at, then during lunch I get couple. Tomorrow I'll likely do one more area before I go to a main campaign map area.

I really don't agree with the music complaints at all. The town themes are all incredible. They're varied, wonderful, and unique. They're some of my favorite town themes in the whole series. The minimalist field themes are wonderful as well, they're not the classic Zelda sound, that's true, but they really fit the tone the game is going for. The minimalistic nature really allows you to take in the serene beauty and the vastness of the world. I think the Guardian encounter music is also very strong, it's kind of funky and otherworldly, which really fits those moments.

Can Amiibos be shared? Say I go to a Facebook group and ask if anyone has the TP Link amiibo, can it be used on both my console and theirs without issue?

I'm losing my mind trying to get a dragon horn shard for my champions tunic upgrades. Any tips on getting Farosh's horn? I can't figure out where to go that gives me the best chance to quickly fly over and shoot him in the horn. It seems incredibly tedious too since it's supposed to be one drop per day, and if you mess up you have to fast forward and wait around until the damn thing respawns.

I went with stamina first because it lets you climb for longer which in turn lets you explore more. It doesn't matter too much though, there is so much stuff accessible even without increased stamina.

Got the Twilight Bow, it indeed uses not only its own ammo (infinite arrows) but also shoots in a straight line. This is absolutely insane.

I fired off around 70 shots and it still hasn't broken.

You can try saving before your attempt, and reload if you don't get it.

Not gonna lie, you saying this made me look up the Zelda amiibo on Amazon.

Not sure if that's worth $20 though.

The Breath of the Wild of Smash, my body isn't ready.

Yeah. :) Sakurai oughta spice things up for the next Smash. Nice overhaul while still keeping some things traditional.

That's actually another reason why Nintendo 1st party support on Switch should be really interesting. Aonuma and that guy handling Mario Oddy has already reached this revelation to evolve their respective series. Gamefreak should be doing this with Pokemon, Intelligent Systems with Fire Emblem, Retro with.... Metroid, Smash with Sakurai, etc.

With Guardians as the stage hazard, accompanied by a terrible medley of some BotW songs

You had me smiling until you threw a shot at BotW songs. Lol

Well after 1 hour of fighting i bested the final boss before doing any dungeon it's time to do those now:P

How the fuck did you do this?

Don't you need 12 hearts to get that thing?
