Mass Effect: Andromeda PAX Livestream

That humor does not seem like it should be in a Mass Effect game... and I don't mean that in a bad way. It's kind of refreshing.

This whole mission seems fucking awesome.

Yep. I am glad the team was ok moving past the tone of ME 1. It will make this feel more distinct and it reminds me fondly of the Citadel DLC.

If this is representative of the final product, this is starting to look like a very safe purchase.

From the stream:
Liam "It's like fighting in a topless toybox!"
Ryder "Leave alliteration out of this!"

TBH the in game animations look really solid and fluid. People have always given Bioware shit for their animations but this honestly looks pretty incredible in action with a person playing it who actually knows wtf they are doing.

Yeah everything seems to be a lot more weightier and snappier in general. Reminds me of MGSV kinda.

They were definitely right in Andromeda being more light-hearted. Humor is absolutely on point.

Good humor, cinematic cutscenes, interior level, good combat, squadmate banter. I really need this game, like right now.

The environment in Liam's loyalty mission was fantastic. Complex and detailed, focused yet still open enough for gameplay purposes.

The guy in the white Nike sweatshirt was great. He said, "Ian, don't listen to that guy, you did great."

Thank you for calling out the bullshit from that previous fan's rude comment. Need more people like you.

Holy shit what? I missed all this.

He said to Ian that as a lead designer/developer, he is not very good at the game, and then asked, for those that are actually good at the game, will the difficulty be consistent throughout the game.

It was absolutely savage and there were quite a few laughs about it.

Holy shit what? I missed all this.

The Lead Gameplay designer was live-playing the segment of gameplay they were showing. When they first got into combat, he died twice in the beginning quite quickly (due to other developers asking him questions while he plays) but he didn't die afterwards after the team let him focus.

Then when they did Q&A, some dumb kid basically asked why the lead gameplay designer is so bad at the game, and if the game will be challenging. Was very rude.

Shortly afterward, a guy in a white Nike sweatshirt called out the BS from the previous dude comment and said to the Lead Gameplay designer he did great. Crowd cheered.

Feel really sorry for the Bioware devs during that part.

Don't believe their lies. They probably count ME3-style eavesdropping as "talking" to NPCs.

This is a meaningless marketing number anyway.

I don't care that there are a ton of characters saying stupid shit.

I care about the depth of each character and the quality fo their dialogue and evelopment. All of which take time and talent to properly develop so the characters that are worthwhile are always goign to be few in number.

... thinking on it, it's not an entirely pontless number. So long as there ARE lots of fully developed, reactive characters, having a lto of minor, voiced NPC's is cool too.

The shitty thing about it is that he wasn't even a kid. He's a grown-ass man that should know better.

Wow. What a colossal disappointment that was. Waste of an hour of my afternoon, and spoiled a loyalty mission for myself for no reason. That panel was painfully bad.

I already knew the single player would look great, my main concern is that they could still butcher the best MP of last gen (IMO) like they did with the DA:I changes. And the fact they seemingly refuse to show a match of it or the inventory system is extremely worrying to me.

But the reports of MP have been good?

I hope it's just due to how they were handling the volume for the stream/conference, but the biotic explosions sounded really weak. :(

It's no full match but if you don't want to wait until thursday here's some footage

They're going to show it.

And I've played it. It's excellent.

Eh, if Ian didn't take that harshly I think we should chill too.

Have you not see the snip previews and such? It looks largely unchanged.

I'm sure we'll get some video by the end of the day, they can't really hide it.

Man, y'all complaining about the guy who called Ian out, but everybody, including the rest of the guys from Bioware, were having a good laugh about it.

In fact, I think it was due to the fact that Ian is supposed to normally be great at the game, that they were getting so much enjoyment out of it.

Chill, fellas.

Eh, if Ian didn't take that harshly I think we should chill too.

Ian has no choice but to take it lightly, he cant exactly push back or it'd look bad.

It was just a poor example of social awareness. A BioWare employee isn't your bro you do coop with in your basement.

Well we don't know how he felt. He's on stage in front of hundreds, and there's thousands watching online. He isn't going to flip out. I would love to be a fly on the wall backstage though. I bet he had a few choice words about it.

It was either laugh it off or have the guy booted out of the room. To save face they went with the first. Personally, I would've done the latter.

The guy didn't even say it jokingly, he said it with a straight face. He meant it. He genuinely thought he was better than him and he's awful at the game. People like that really rub me up the wrong way.

Definitely, compared to what they were like in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3.

The sound effects and the soundmix seem worse in general.

1) They VERY CLEARLY warned you for spoilers. Your fault. No one else.

The panel was great. The "fans" asking those questions during the Q&A section were awful though.

2) There will most likely be MP footage coming soon. Relax. They talked a lot about the MP system already if you are paying attention. Looks like you don't though.

But the reports of MP have been good?

Granted, but that was true of DA:I as well. People sampling didn't realize how badly the changes would affect the longevity of.

Good looking out, thanks. I did see this and like what I see quite a bit, but the crate/inventory system is very absent save a brief shot that says "the carnifex is now in stock" which doesn't really tell me anything.

They're going to show it.

And I've played it. It's excellent.

Glad to hear it, always respect your opinion on all things ME. Did you get to see the crate/inventory system at all?

Oh I as aware they were coming. I was just willing to spoil the mission for the MP info. I didn't get that. How was the panel great? I liked the Bioware employees, they were funny and articulate, but the questions were terrible. As for point 2, what an odd personal attack. Could you point me to where they have laid out the loot/inventory system? Maybe I missed it, and that's what ruined DA:I.
