The PPV would've absolutely wrecked our economy though.
A huge deal of the budget cuts where a result of the fallout of the economic crisis. Getting out of a crisis without big compromises is not something the left would've pulled of either (and my handicapped sister and thus me as well got hit hard, mind you). Where do you suppose the money comes from? Don't get me wrong, I am a proponent of stronger shoulders carrying the weaker, but if you do that only on a national basis, I fear those stronger shoulders will migrate (which is why I think the EU is crucial).
Furthermore, the CPB (centraal plan bureau, an independent organization of our government) in the past has provided data showing that higher taxes for top earners does not seem to lead to an increase in income. http://www.cpb.nl/publicatie/over-de-top (Dutch study).
Despite all the shit VVD/PvdA got, I think they did a solid job in steering the direction of our nation whilst still booking progress (examples like tighter laws in regards to banking bonus culture). A lot of the cuts where unfortunately a necessity, at least that is how it appeared to me.
I voted D66 btw, because I think their stances for the most part are very reasonable.

Dutch exit polls are typically much more reliable than the US ones, changes beyond the exit polls hardly ever involve changes of more than 2 seats per party. You can be quite sure of these results.

No, not really. Exitpolls are historically pretty accurate. Expect a maximum difference of 2 seats, and Wilders is currently at +4.

I agree with you on the CDA going a bit crazy and chasing the PVV line. I thought the VVD was a bit better with it. But I think everyone at least goes up economically with the VVD according to the projections. And with D66 added, they'll have a party there to add some nuance to the immigration debate.
It might not be perfect for your situation of course, or at least doesn't align with your views. But the alternative wasn't better, since no way the PvdA, SP or Groenlinks could govern between the three of them for example, since I think that would have been your preference then.

I expected a pvv win with them getting the most seats. Especially as I expected polls would be lower then votes, like with Trump and Brexit. The Trump fuck-up effect seems to have eaten in their success.

It could happen, seats tend to fluctuate slightly until the final numbers are in. He might end up with a seat more or a seat less.
Great to see GroenLinks gain so many seats, hopefully they'll be able to push for some actual environmental change.

Not sure about that. I think what is holding the PVV back from becoming even bigger is that they seem to refuse to put out a clear campaign on the array of topics beyond immigration and Islam. If he starts doing that, we could be looking at PVV becoming a bigger threat in future elections.

If the PVV is serious, they need to become a regular party, have people in local governments that can actually govern. But now it is the big Wilders show, and that doesn't work here like that.

Well exactly just that. I work near full time with minimum wage, now my rent is going to go up and healthcare coverage is going to be even worse. My field also is in the public sector while VVD/D66/CDA want a smaller government.
Then you have CDA and VVD going on the 'superior culture' and 'let go of your double nationality' tour.
I'll live but it's not going to be much better than that.
I think the PVV's influence is bigger in the opposition than in a government. They can keep on saying what they want, and push the entire parliament on Populist issues. Wilders isn't going anywhere untill he loses a massive amount of seats in the 2k.
We sent a clear message and that is much more important in these times of populist revival and hollowing of European ideals. We are regarded as a crucible of democracy, and Wilders had everything to gain this election. This outcome is a boon for the EU. Sorry you feel this way, hopefully D66/GL will be part of the coalition and pull their weight to make sure our new cabinet will be as inclusive as possible.

CDA has been rightist in their election debates, but if you look at their actual party programme they are pro equal opportunity and pro integration. They're just yelling to get votes but will just do their own thing when in goverment. History teaches they always do that. Yell right, act left.
I'm sorry to hear that. Let's wait and see. Things are going to improve. Previous government was quite stable.

I'll have to give you the first one but I've never understood the double nationality thing. Why would you want to have dual citizenship? It's like being married to to two people. Never going to work out. Conflicting loyalties and all that.

To be fair, multiple countries do not allow you to get rid of it. I guess you could just refuse to pick up the passport, but you can't renounce your citizenship in all cases.

Previous government was also quite shitty to the people who had less. Here's hoping things improve for those less fortunate because I ain't noticing shit when it comes to us being out of the economic crisis. Nothing has inproved for those who are living on the edge of poverty in my eyes.
The reason PvdA lost many seats and PVV became more popular was mainly because lots of these people felt "betrayed" by the current government.
