So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Yes, several people in this thread have received theirs and there are lots of positive reports from elsewhere. UK, Japan, Spain, and Germany Amazon sites all deliver to the US and all have similar or lower prices to US retail with tax. My Spanish order came out to $332 which is only like $5 more than I would have paid here after tax. Since the device is completely region-free, the only downside is needing to buy a plug adapter for the power cord, but those can be found for a few bucks online.

The other potential downside to consider (from what I've heard) is that NoA will not provide hardware support for systems purchased from other countries. Thus if something goes wrong, you'll be dealing with another region's support and shipping your console overseas.

(I would've gone this route myself otherwise.)

Was just making a fun joke. I'm sure Time Square was also a miserable mess of people and snow.

Funny thing is there were quite a few people inside the store waiting for Switches in case they showed up in today's delivery I guess. I was surprised to see that. I asked again another rep and he said they get people every day who just camp out inside despite not getting any new inventory since launch. Seems demand is crazy.

Got my copy of Zelda, just waiting on the Switch to come in today now *_*

This is why I don't want to play the store checking game. I just don't have the time to dedicate to something like that. I'll show up on a weekend opening, but during the week? Nahhh

When I showed up once for a NES Classic there were people from the door down to the subway stop. And some were definitely trying to scam.

Has anyone ever seen a Switch on Prime Now?

I'm in NYC and only see the Pro controller. Have never encountered a Switch. Curious to see if anyone here has seen a Switch on Amazon Prime Now?

(i keep exploring my options lol)

Someone said yes the other day. It was down south, not NY.

Neon Switch showed up on Prime Now in Nashville twice, both on a Monday around 5-7 PM local time. Not sure if that's a coincidence. Pro Controllers have been readily in stock on Prime Now in Nashville for a solid week or more at this point, and you can order 10 at a time if you want.

In other news, my order status just changed to the infamous "it is sent today" so things are moving!

Of course I ask at Nintendo world NYC and they guy looks exhausted from the same question. He's like "no switches and no idea when we'll have more". Guess back to online it is!

When did they run out? I got mine on launch day, stood on an afternoon line for only 20-30 minutes. I only recall later that day or the day after of reports they were out of the neon Switch but still had the gray ones. I thought their flagship would get steady supply for a while.

They had a big inventory for launch day (3/3) and once they sold out, they haven't received a single shipment after the initial launch shipment which goes to show how crazy the stock situation is.

One of the Nintendo NYC employees I spoke to told me that he personally thinks stock is constrained everywhere because Nintendo is trying to fix the hardware issues (e.g. left joycon, dock scratching, etc, etc) so they haven't provided any retailer any updates on stock. Not saying I believe him, but it's not implausible...

I believe it.

I'm fortunate enough to have gotten a Switch + extra Joycons without any problems. If it's true that a revised Joycon comes out, I'll get in on the trade-in program because my understanding is that tests have shown that even good Joycons still perform noticeably worse than other wireless gaming accessories.

Talked to a WM rep via their chat:

"At this time, it appears that Nintendo Switch Gaming Console with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con is on backorder. This means that the shipping center nearest you does not have that item. Rest assured, the system is checking other centers for the item so that we can fulfill it for you."

He advised it can take 3-10 business days for their system to find one and either ship it or cancel the order. Meanwhile my card is charged (pending authorization). So coming across one in the wild over the next 10 business days is going to make me suuuuper sad.

I am in the same exact boat. Not getting good vibes at this point. I figure they had 3 to sell and Zoolert users (about 10 billion) pounced at the same time :)

Man, all I want is a damn pro controller. They're nowhere to be found other than scalpers.

Playing zelda with the joycons doesnt cut it. My hands are too big.

Edit: F it. Might go the craigslist route for $85. Only $8 over final cost with tax for me. Ugh.

They were on Amazon for quite some time yesterday, I believe.

Bummer, that sucks. I would just buy one if you encounter one in the wild and return the Walmart one or sell it on ebay at cost (plus tax) to recover your purchase.

Huh, I saw two at my local GS yesterday. I guess it's a matter of location for those huh.

How's the stock situation on the east coast? Asking for a friend trying to snipe one in FL.

Went looking for a Switch case today as I'm taking it with me on vacation this weekend. I went to 3 separate stores and each one of their accessory sections was completely blank. This is grim.

Follow up to my "work bought me a switch post". The fulfillment center is still "processing" my order. The switch stayed up for order for 48 hours (open on Monday and then all day Tuesday) it is now not up.

However, like I said earlier my order still says "processing". I will keep you all posted,

so far it looks like I'm good to go, no joycon wobble, dock isn't bent (penny test) and it seems to be functioning. I highly recommend amazon.es if you live in the states.

Sign up for the nowinstock.net text alerts. They alerted me when amazon got some stock yesterday and I got one. It's also how I got my Zelda SE (read: awesome case).

Saw a pro controller at Walmart and the rds case, ended up picking them up. Have the official case which I'm going to return since the rds seems much better. I wasn't planning to get the pro controller but it was priced at 69 and no tax here in NH. Hopefully I think it lives up to the hype. 😌

Just got a notification that Jet.com has switch in stock, but for $549....

I had the same thought honestly. Otherwise I think we would have seen at least a little stock trickle in somewhere by now (Aside from a fluke walmart.com listing or unclaimed preorders being offered up to the public). Going back through stock to fix joycons etc before they ship is a lot cheaper than recalling all of them or otherwise replacing stuff for customers at cost. The RROD fiasco wasn't that long ago all things considered and I guarantee Nintendo is doing whatever possible to avoid paying $1B to fix this stuff like Microsoft had to do for that.

So I had an extra Switch pre order at Walmart in case Best Buy fell through. I wasn't even planning on picking it up so I'd just get refunded, but I receved an email that the Switch had been picked up on March 7th. I went to the store that day and asked what the hell was going on and why I got charged the $300 (not pending, and it's still there).

They couldn't figure it out, said they'd review the tapes and call me back.

Manager calls me back at 10pm that night and says it was a mix up and someone else get my Switch by accident. I say whatever, just give me a refund, but he insisted that he would get another one on Tuesday March 14th and give me a call.

No call yesterday. Charge is still there. Pick up manager guy isn't working today and the other workers had no idea about this incident.

What the fuck mane

Considering Walmart seems to have "sold" me a backordered (Pre-order?), charged my card and will keep the charge until they confirm they truly don't have any in stock... I am beginning to think they are the absolute worst...

That sucks and sounds a little shady, especially the part about the guy insisting that they'd get more stock when you try to get a refund.

Definitely get on their case about it, someone may be trying to pull a fast one.
