A Compilation of Hilarious Animations in Mass Effect Andromeda

Even the Salarian's mouth does that weird pucker thing. Was this in ME 1-3 and I just didn't notice it?

Does this hero have a name? I want him to be constantly floating around like Navi and commenting on the weird animations and writing.

And this is still just a starter for the main course of awkward sex scenes (which will probably end up being flawless and show where all the time and budget went).

Not to be a dick, buy you must have had a thought this would happen eventually when you created a thread based around shitting on a game (for fun).

Firstly, this thread was made possible because of the issues that are evident for all to see. I don't remember there being an "anti- Mass Effect" troupe on GAF that come out of the woodwork at times preceding any new release. People have a right to highlight these issues to raise awareness. Yes, some of them are insensitive (like one comparing PeeBee to Shrek) but the rest add levity to a situation that definitely requires the attention of the devs.

Secondly, your accusation is way out of line. No one decent would have thought to create this thread to inspire gamergaters to act their misogynistic intent.

Somebody saaaave me!

The "kill me now" part was actually funny and good, so props for that. Great delivery. The "cute" and awkward romance dialogue.. Wasn't.

Yeah I think the overall structure of this scene is good but the delivery, the editing, the animation and the actual lines are really poor.

If this was a TV show or a movie you can imagine the actors and the director workshopping the dialogue a bit until it becomes more fluid and funny. This is a good example of how difficult natural-sounding conversations in video games is to do.

Not in the slightest. You can definitely have natural sounding conversations in video games, but it needs to be backed up by actually decent animations for 2017.

As I said before, you need good VA, good scripting and good animation to sell a character or story. Miss any of those and it becomes this game. Absolutely terrible with the sheer talent that this company has, which I don't doubt was on the team despite the "team B" claims. I'll admit the kill me now line worked, but because it didn't need animation, and the character delivering the line is alien so we don't expect human movement.

The dialouge itself is fine (not great, fine), but the animation is... there's really no emotion there. They are talking about mutual feelings - "hey, I think you're cute and I love your accent", "I like you too" - but their body language and faces doesn't express that. There's very little eye contact, no smile, no reaction to the confession. During the "yes!" part I would expect Rayder to do, I dunno, a slight fist pump or something. No just saying "yes!" with a deadpan expression. :/

I certainly think the "kill me now" scene fits the pattern of writer intentionally trying to go into some meta awkward humour territory, if anything then due to musical backing being highly inappropriate for what the scene seems to be at first glance. Dissonance at its finest.

I disagree with the dialogue (outside of "kill me now"), it feels like there's a line missing when Ryder talks about love interests accent like they cut out a "foot in the mouth" remark which would have gone a long way to making it a better kind of awkward between the two.

Really? This scene is funny in the good way. You guys are too serious.

It could've been a very funny scene. Unfortunately the poor animation and stilted delivery of all the lines just makes it cringe worthy. I mean I get what they were trying to do with that scene but honestly it does not work because of the poor quality in animations and the wooden delivery.

Man the conversations and actual roleplaying are a LARGE part of the mass effect games. For them to be so poorly done is just a shit show.

It's not as if Mass Effect is a small franchise, it's one of last gens biggest and best.

The gameplay looks great. But for a mass effect games the conversations are just as important.

People have varying degrees of acceptance of stuff screwing with suspension of disbelief. For you there may be nothing in that scene, for others it wouldn't make much difference if the salarian actually shot the ladies with eye lasers because he couldn't stand listening to them (note that salarians are not established to have eye lasers).

Yeah that's my point. A lot of moving parts need come together in order for a scene like this to function.

I actually like the looks of default femRyder, but in every scene I have seen she has this weird smirk on her face and her facial animations don't gel well with the actual dialogue/emotions conveyed, not at all, actually. It is not just the lipsyncing being off, it is the animations as a whole. And those eyes, they are consistently horrid amongst all characters, why Bioware?

The same applies for manRyder probably but I simply haven't watched a lot of footage with him.

I am playing Telltale Batman now and while the animations in Telltale games are extremely stiff and scream old engine/tech, at least the characters smile when they are supposed to, look angry when they are supposed to, don't do other weird shit with their faces during serious scenes etc.

It happened with ME3 too. It was pretty clear this would happen again and will continue to happen.
It has nothing to do with pointing out the hilarious bugs and utter mediocrity of some of these animations.
It has everything to do with GG losers having a bone to pick with Bioware in particular because of their stance on certain political and social subjects, with their games and outside of them.

If you think these people wouldn't have gone down on Bioware the same way, with or without the hilarious bugs as an excuse, I think you're being delusional.

Mass Effect Andromeda being a jank fest is just the easiest launchpad they could find, but they would've found another had that not been the case.

Meanwhile pretending that this game doesn't look like it does, because of these idiots, would be really absurd.

As long as you criticize the game and don't attack the devs, as well as condemning these shit heads, I don't see a problem with it.

Though I understand closing the thread now.
The point has been made anyway.
