NieR: Automata Spoiler Thread

Vaguely related to the topic at hand but the type 40 weapons are all the coolest looking weapons in the game. Sans Emil Heads of course.

Yeah, they look awesome as hell (both by default and when crackling with electricity). It helps that they have pretty good effects on them too.

Operator rewards come in the mail. Check 9s inbox. Maybe you didn't open it... Otherwise no idea what the issue is.

I think that reward shows up in 9S's room? Or maybe the inbox.

thanks, managed to reactive that desert flower mission and got the weapon.

and,got Y ending finally

It's a shame the best voice acting of the year is tied to ending y that I'm sure most people missed. So good despair.
The best voice acting of the year is 9S in all of route C and especially him screaming at A2 during her boss fight, so most people won't miss that

Yeah, Emil was as good as he was in the original game, his words during that boss fight hit me deep.

Still not as good as 9S going bananas tho.

I wonder how emil's voice actor feels after the recording of each nier game is done.

English? Dunno, she doesn't seem to have a Twitter.

Japanese? Kadowaki Mai is a married mother with 2 kids and she seems happy. (I honestly have no idea why I followed her instagram in the first place but they're adorable)

I remember while playing that I had some problems with the game, but after finishing all those problems went away.
Chief among them was how the game treated its returning cast.

I thought it was a shame that Popola and Devola were worthless to the plot as I expected them to have a bigger role. Then I read their story, and I saw that library and it made sense what their role really was.

I thought it was a shame that Emil, who was the most caring and tragic character in the first game was turned into comic relief. Then i learned about the super-bosses, and about what he went through for millennia.

Man, how wrong I was...

Idk 9s still felt a bit naruto Sasuke lol.

His best moment for me is when he was stabbing the 2b clone thing.

Love me some despair

Nier 3: You have to hunt down and kill every single one of Emil's clones. The game ends when you find the original broken by millenia of despair and must end his suffering.

This part made me sad.

I mean, I know it wasn't 2B, but it looked like her. Also, all of that blood. Also also, the repeated stabbings.

Damn it.

I do like how much more ambiguous "you really want to **** 2b don't you?" is after that segment.

Like most things taro what seems crude at first gains layers afterwards.

I accidentally spoiled the trophy that said 2B dies, but I thought it was referring to this moment (which was in a somewhat spoilery trailer), or the factory explosion. So learning that the trophy was about her dying through A2's mercy kill had me like "Wha..."

So when I saw 9S kill her both figuratively in his mind and the copies, I'm like damn 2B, you sure die a lot...

Haha, yeah. I saw the spoiler-ific trailer with this moment too, but I figured it was just for show to relate how depressing the game would be. Thankfully, I didn't see the Trophy list prior to completing it, but if I did I probably would have thought the same thing you did.

A2 killing 2B...damn, it still hurts.

why am I drawing a blank on the "They had it coming had it coming had it coming" line that gets quoted randomly...

Side quest to find the grave of the Forest King after A2 kills him. After the quest, the NPC is happy about the king's death and you killing the guardian of the grave and says "They had it coming" repeatedly while ominous music plays.

Trapped in a dead world driven by neverending conflict, bullied and discriminated against by his countrymen for his speech impediment, and banished to isolation on the border of his former home, never understanding why he couldn't be part of the Forest Kingdom's idyllic family. And even beyond the point of no return, he is still tortured by his actions - desperately repeating to himself that they had it coming.

Hawbot had a hard life.

Does he get zombiefied later on?

Nothing is ever just black and white with Taro. Pretty messed up that they mocked and alienated him for something so petty as a speech impediment. Like it was some great sin to have a slight defect. How very human of them.
Does he get zombiefied later on?

He was already zombified. He lost his mind.

The zombie thing is caused by the tower as a way to force the machines to scrap themselves for materials to be sent up by resource units right? I wonder why the zombie ones appeared as early as route A in the theater basement though.

Looks at avatar. *tears* Oh God. For your own sanity do not read this thread.

Yeah, it's a pain it the ass. Had to use so many health items. Do you have the overclock chip? I kept dodging him and slowing him down with overclock then wailing on him. Try to keep your distance.

What level are you? Also, you could probably bypass with a hack since you have to fight him as 9S there.

I ended up leveling up in the hyperbolic time chamber killing the rabbit dude for half an hour, I've done that quest wrong so many times forgetting you need to talk to Emil first to start the fight I didn't feel like running back to his house :P

the dialogues in the second fight were amazing though when
he recovered his memories

RIP

I've been listening to the OST. There have been a number of JRPG's that have had these pop power ballads like FF13's My Hands and I've just never really cared for them. But Weight of the World hits all the right notes and I don't really know why it resonates with me so much more than other similar songs.

End of the Unknown (Fight theme with Adam and Eve in the ship) is absolutely hilarious because it stands out so much from everything else in the game.

I'm going to reach a lot here, so don't throw too many punches, but I get too many Castlevania Symphony of the Night vibes playing in the Forest Kingdom.

From entering from the forest with the drawbridge into the courtyard into the castle. The 2D layout. Some locations just giving me flashbacks to other locations like right in the beginning when you meet Death and he jacks your stuff. Heck the arches in the background are even there! *reachinggggg*

And maybe I am completely wrong but I just feel pretty confident due to the fact NIER had so many call backs to other types of gametypes/inspiration. We already see it in NIER AUTOMATA drawing from bullet time shooters, the MACROSS Valkyrie design for their ships, Kaiju battles in the ocean and here I believe some Castlevania inspiration.

Nier 3: You have to hunt down and kill every single one of Emil's clones. The game ends when you find the original broken by millenia of despair and must end his suffering.

Nier 3 has to be a spinoff of ending L. A fishing game with 2B set 10 years after Automata where you have to fight off both YoRHa and machine assassins trying to ruin all your fun.
