Don't people remember Operation Desert Fox when the US bombed Iraq in 1998, at the height of the Lewinsky-Clinton scandal? This is the same thing, with Trump bombing Syria to distract us from his failures...
The world decided after WWI that chemical warfare is done. Any country who decides otherwise should be taught a lesson. They were given their warning in 2013 and acted like they were on the same page, this time merits a response.
You can't compare it to regular collateral damage in a war zone.

why are people acting like all these tweets from 4 years are some huge GOTCHA. things have happened between now and then.
What? People talked about the Libya stuff nonstop for days. People were upset. and that's in the face of 1.) Our president not being an idiot baby then. He came from a party that hated war. And 2.) The Libya stuff involved a shitload of European nations. We made it clear we were providing support, but not sending in American troops. Comparing the two at this point is absurd. You didn't see any of that when we bombed libya 6 years ago, and that was a much larger effort. We bombed targets in Libya in january with B2 bombers which killed 80 people (likely ISIS). You didn't hear a peep about that from anybody i just don't think the incessant hyperbole helps.
Why dont you take it a step further and say the Americans were the ones to use the chemical weapons, oh yeah and that Russia is secretly together on this with Trump.
We have reached out at the UN and apparently with other nations prior to the strikrs, and will pursue geneva talks to oust assadAnd why does the US have to go it alone?
there is no fate worse than hypocrisy, no one survives itwhy are people acting like all these tweets from 4 years are some huge GOTCHA. things have happened between now and then.
I meant that if Trump is inadvertently pissing off the Russians they may decide to release whatever emails they got from the RNC and state parties and cause even more chaos. Trump and the Republicans seem screwed either way when it comes to Russia.

Sad to say but Obama kinda set the precedent for not needing approval to attack assad. This might actually start another world war. This is incredibly serious, this egomaniac is not only responsible for the deaths caused as a result of these strikes but also the immense repercussions of them. I don't think the US is ready for another war.
For all of you in Syria stay strong and stay safe. For all you Americans, demand that your leader gets Congrwssional approval before starting a war! This buffoon can't just order strikes whenever he feels like it, and that should be made crystal clear!
Syria was attacking its citizens at the time using Chlorine Gas. Obama approached congress for approval of a strike, but was denied by these people supporting this recent strike that occurred without their approval. Obama's goal was for regime change through political means via Geneva talks. Tillerson is now pushing for the same thing.
Trump, despite shouting against this sort of action for five years, just went along with Obama's Syrian strategy... and Republican members of congress are suddenly changing their tune.

Earlier today, and three days ago, and a bunch of times last week and: https://www.thebureauinvestigates.c...-of-us-air-and-drone-strikes-afghanistan-2017When was the last time we fired off missiles?

@BBCSteveR: Russian state TV reports "there are killed & wounded" at Syrian air base hit by US missiles.

This wasn't an attack on Putin/Russia. You don't give a heads up to people you're going to start a war with. It's most likely over. That was it.
Distraction or not, it was justified and necessary.
Exactly my question.Russian or Syrian casualties?
The dead Syrians, gassed by Assad 4 years ago are materially different from the dead Syrians gassed by Assad four days ago, because ________
Go!
Russian or Syrian casualties?
The news agencies are just talking in circles now.
We have reached out at the UN and apparently with other nations prior to the strikrs, and will pursue geneva talks to oust assad
Exactly my question.
Bc the current president banned syrian refugees and is being investigated for collusion with russia, who waltzed into syria since.
Go to bed.

Fun fact: today marks the 100th anniversary of the US entering WWI
... Are they showing a stock picture of an airstrike and passing it off as the one that occurred today?
Earlier today, and three days ago, and a bunch of times last week and: https://www.thebureauinvestigates.c...-of-us-air-and-drone-strikes-afghanistan-2017
Do drone strikes count? Cause if it does, we've been bombing shit for the past...6 years
BO played the game of drones for years.
Probable last week from some drone.
And why does the US have to go it alone?
I think the thing that is so terrifying and bordering disgusting about tonight, from how I'm viewing it, is how quick some people are to praise Trump for this who were not even six months ago condemning Obama/Clinton for Libya.
Not that the two situations are all that similar, but one area in which they are is how popular the initial actions were. People WANTED Obama to go into Libya. Just like this strike, people WANTED the US to do what it could to protect innocent people from being slaughtered by their leader.
It was everything around that actions that ultimately made Libya toxic. The completely haphazard way we handled that. This, just on the outset, seems to be orders of magnitude more haphazard.
But hey, we shot some missiles, I guess...
Stock photos, how do they work?
Sad indeed, I don't think we are any safer after tonight.
