That Dmitry Medvedev is doing the Russian talking on this and not putin says it isn't a big deal for them.
Even if they didn't cook up the chemical attack they can recognize a domestic stunt from a president who just got fingered in the press by the CIA.

Good point, after the Turkey shoot down Putin was out in front of it within hours.

Edit: Few posters below point out that containers in left pic are most likely left around by Russians after destroying CW's contained within aka ignore this, leaving up so quotes make some sense.

I'm sure any container would look like a chemical weapons container. Even a can of Pepsi.

Well you aren't wrong. With enough know-how you can turn that can into many weapons, even chemical one.

Just striking how similar those trashed container are to ones used by Russia to storage weapons grade chems.

I thought the base and liberals wanted them to filibuster????

Oh it was the right thing.
But it was meaningless because of their weaknesses leading up to it.

The outcome.
Garland denied. Gorsuch appointed.

Outcomes matter. Democrats suck at getting favorable outcomes despite having demographic and policy advantages.

This post is basically just gibberish.

If you can envision a scenario in which Garland gets appointed I'd like to hear it.

How does math allow Garland to get approved?

Fair point that Garland happened in dem minority. I still think reid respected gop too much when he had power. Now look.

Again, if you care about outcomes one side keeps taking the L.

Bit off topic, but it fits into narrative of what dem leadership is doing now politically regarding the strike

The media championing war again is Fucking surreal. I'm really worried.

Maybe it wasn't such a hot idea for people to give CNN the ratings boost and buy subscriptions to NYT as a sign of resisting the guy those same entities spent 18 months propping up.

I mean, how big of a fuckin' crater do you need to make a runway inoperable? I get that TLAMs aren't the best tool for the job, but ffs, the runway is made of concrete not diamonds. Even a small crater every few hundred feet would make it unusable.

It's not so much the crater but you need to dispace the concrete or fracture it enough that large portions of the runway is uneven for a plane to land.

I must be reading different news that you. Most of my feeds are about how the strike was pointless, accomplishes nothing, and is just a display of action to show action without actually doing anything.

So we waste 70-something million dollars, get Russia hot on our ass, and do basically nothing to help the situation regarding Assad bombing his own citizens. Right. Got it.

I really don't know why you're all hung up on this ~$70 million number. The US military would cost us over a billion dollars a day without lifting a finger. $70 million worth of tomahawk missiles that were made years ago and will eventually be disassembled and scraped if they don't get used is the least important thing to take from this.

I'm telling you guys, we're going to find something we really don't want to find.

If we really don't want to react to whatever we find, there'll be a ton of posturing and saber rattling and empty words while doing nothing substantial. America has always been good at ignoring stuff they want don't want to address.

So I've been working all day....just got to my phone, trying to catch up. If someone could summarize even a short one, I'd appreciate it.

Just from the little I've seen, it appears Russia aided or knew about the chemical attack and shit is going south with them quickly....would that be accurate?

Why give America this much credit? It's not always America's fault when bad stuff happens.

The US as earnt it in spades for decades, they should get more credit, they are that good at this, the latest being them bombing and killing 200 people(not including the injured) civilians, which now isnt getting all that much focus, US should get more "credit" for that

Five Top Papers Run 18 Opinion Praising Syria Strikes–Zero Are Critical

Five major US newspapers—the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and New York Daily News—offered no opinion space to anyone opposed to Donald Trump’s Thursday night airstrikes. By contrast, the five papers ran a total of 18 op-eds, columns or “news analysis” articles (dressed-up opinion pieces) that either praised the strikes or criticized them for not being harsh enough

Well, I guess since GAF is experts on police and firearms, its only obvious that they are experts in military warfare and strategy as well and know exactly how many craters are needed, depth, width, and spacing included.

They'll patch up the potholes fast.

Looks like the media are tightening up the message

So Assad is launching more airstrikes from the airstrip that was hit AND used a different chemical weapon today in Damascus.

Next steps, pro-intervention folks?

The original Daily mail article sourced InfoWars as the source of the information. The same Info Wars that claims Obama had a plot to turn frogs Gay and that Lady Gaga was going to do a mass Satanic ritual in the middle of the super bowl etc.

Arabs praise 'Abu Ivanka' aka Trump for Syria strike and #AmericaIsOverParty fears army draft

Arabs online thank Abu Ivanka, or President Donald Trump - for the US strike against Syria - and Americans fearful of conscription into a huge war tweet #AmericaIsOverParty.
Abu Ivanka al-Amreeki
Arabs on social media are showering US President Donald Trump with thanks and praise after he ordered the first direct US military action against Syrian government forces.
The US conducted the strikes on a Syrian air base in the early hours of Friday following a suspected chemical attack on a rebel-held town.
Shortly after, some Arab social media users started referring to the president as Abu Ivanka - Father of Ivanka, as a sign of respect and endearment.
Others referred to him as Abu Ivanka al-Amreeki - Father of Ivanka the American, complete with a religious beard.

One user gave Trump an Arab makeover, with a meme of him wearing a traditional tarboosh hat (similar to a fez), with the words: "We love you."
He was also described as a "man of his words", with one user telling him: "You did in a few months what Obama couldn't do in 8 years."

"Fifteen warplanes that would have killed thousands of Syrians" were destroyed, one user said, changing his Facebook profile picture to an amalgam of Trump's face, the American flag, and the Arabic words: "We love you."
A media activist in Idlib wanted to see more action, calling on the US president to keep going and "hit Assad down".
And while some said they "never thought" this day would come, they thanked Trump for doing "what no cowardly Arab ruler could do".
"Hope is slowly returning to our hearts. Thank you, Trump," one Syrian posted.
"For the first time in six years, the Assad regime has been held accountable for its crimes," a London-based Syrian said.

Forgive me if I don't find the "we'll be greeted as liberators" shit convincing anymore. I still remember the Libya 2011 thread with people celebrating in the streets with pictures of Obama and Sarkozy as heroes. There was also Iraq with the Saddam statue coming down and it all looked great.

For every one of these people, there's two others who hate the US.

Definitely in each of these interventions, thats how its perceived by each side. I just thought it was interesting to see what the article was showing.

What? Source?

Okay, this may be false. My fault. I saw multiple normally reliable tweets about the use of chlorine gas today in Damascus but it looks like they all ultimately trace back to one guy, so no confirmation yet.

Still worth thinking about what the next step is if it does turn out to be true.

Twitter has become a useless place to gauge any reactions for every real person there is probably 5-10,000 Bots ready to present a predetermined narrative.

That said I am not surprised at some of the reaction. Sunni Arabs are very much excited the United States is yet again getting into a conflict with their Enemies.
