Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

Some campaign stuff from Splatoon 2 would be neat.
I hope they also talk a little bit about VC, would be disappointed if they end up using that as filler in their E3 direct.

My predictions:

Arms: release date (late may, early June), 4 player FFA, story mode intro

Splatoon 2: release date (late July, early August), new testfire date, new maps and clothing abilities, new mode

Other: VC for NES and SNES (previous games from Wii U and 3DS carries over for small fee), 3ds Fire Emblem and Pikmin games, build hype for E3

This would be great. But actually it should be free.

Yes. They specify that it will cover other Switch and 3DS games. People always take the words of "focus on" way too literally. We get it all the time. One time they say it'll focus mostly on 3DS games, so people assume that means no Wii U stuff, then we get Wii U announcements. Another they say it focuses on Spring, but we get a crapload of Summer and Autumn announcements and so forth
Yep. Nintendo does this every single time. They always say the focus on some time period or something. There will be more shown aside from the two games, but it's close to E3 so don't expect Metroid Prime 4 or Star Tropics 3 to be shown.

About time we got a Direct. Looking forward to release dates on those two games, though I'm not expecting much else aside from 3DS games we know about already (Fire Emblem Echoes, Ever Oasis, maybe Pikmin 3DS). Would be nice to hear about online stuff for Switch though.

Eh, there's a lot to talk about with ARMS in particular. They could show us more characters. Talk about new modes we don't know about. Talk about the structure of the game. Is it fighting game style, with a simple "arcade" mode for single player? Or, is there a larger campaign? All of these are things they could go over.

Don't forget amiibo :p

I think we'll hear about Virtual console in this direct. Old games aren't something to brag about at E3. Especially if they do a special Digital Event again.

Not if they are revamping the Nintendo Classics in a wholly new way. Say like being able to buy the entire NES Classics library in one shot for $60 or something.

Not saying that will happen or is even likely, but if they are truly going to change and update that whole thing they won't tack it on to the end of a presentation tlaking about primarily Splat2 and Arms.

Remember people, Nintendo likes to keep stuff focused to 3-6 month chunks with a little long range stuff here and there. Expect dates for these two games and discussion on upcoming 3ds games and maybe one other game, like a Smash Switch ed or something. Tamp down anything more than that.

I'm going May 26th for ARMS and late June/early July for Splatoon.

Splatoon will be interesting, since the testfire mostly used the old mechanics. But since they have now showed the new plaza, and that Ink Railings are now in multiplayer stages, I'm pretty curious about the direction Splatoon 2 will take.

ARMS will obviously show the other characters, game modes and such stuff.

Well they did there were other modes. I'm hoping for a "Break the Targets" type of mode (from Smash) for this game. It'll help you learn arm movements and whatnot. Also, I'm hoping there's a single player campaign or something.

Yeah I would guess there will be that type of mode or similar things, but I'm wondering if an adventure mode could possibly work with engaging world traversal.

I've been suggesting and hoping for this since day 1. Lil Mac with spring arms would be so cool and simultaneously boost ARMs and the punch out ip. It just makes too much sense being kind of a similar 'boxing' game.

If they do go with lil Mac though I'd predict it's not revealed at the direct.

Apart from Arms and Splat2n, I predict we will see:

Pikmin 3DS gets a full name and release date
One or two third party ports for switch
Switch VC starting NES and SNES games and nothing else
A surprise no one predicted

Don't expect much, E3 is where the big guns will be

For ARMS they're probably going to go over release date, control scheme when using traditional input, and how you can play with each individual joycon.

I've been positing that there is no way that "Cyber Mac" isn't in this game. Also, what about the protagonist from TeleroBoxer?

How can ARMS be $60 next to Zelda at $60? There's no way it can be more then $30

I said the same thing about 1,2 Switch, bomberman and street fighter 2.

I think ARMs will probably hit the $50 pricepoint, unless it's absolutely chalk full of features or has free DLC throughout the year or something.

Teleroboxer would be such an amazingly hardcore awesome throwback. I wonder if it'd have some red/black virtual box throwback.

I'm a nostalgia whore.

It's Splatoon all over again. People basing a game on a demo.
