Arms will play absolutely fine in handheld mode I think. The motions in Arms are all really simple and can be assigned to button presses very easily.
they already said you can play with traditional controls

Show off handheld mode for ARMS, Nintendo. No handheld mode, no buy. I've already thrown away my dock.
Do you think we would get a teaser for Smash for Switch? or would they going to save it for E3 or future event?
If anything, we could get Inkling for Smash trailer if we are going to see any smash trailer this Wednesday. There is no way that I would expect to see anything smash-related this time.
I think it's a bit too soon for a new Super Smash Bros game. Other than the N64 original, Smash Bros games are generally 6 to 7 years apart, and Wii U/3DS weren't even three years ago at this time, so I think we've got a bit more time left.

No need to show that, it'll certainly support both handheld mode with standard controls and table top mode with separate joycons on each hand and motion controls
We are all expecting Super Smash Bros. Turbo Championship Edition here.
There's singleplayer but no idea the structure.Wonder if Arms is more then just mp.
I wonder if they'll address any critiques from the Testfire. Like the refresh rate or how useless some of the specials felt.
Oh. Lame. I'd rather an all-new Smash game than the same game I already played three years ago.

I did the opposite, threw away the handheld once I got it. I've got a pro controller so I'm all good. I have had some sync issues though and also the hdmi doesn't seem to send the video signal to my tv. ah well, I'm sure Nintendo will release an update that addresses this.

I could see myself doing the same, thats why im holding out for nintendo to just make a home console version of the switch with none of the screen or portability or joycon bullshit packed in. Just give me a box with a tx1, 4 gigs of ram and usb 3.0 that lets me add external hardrives. Charge me 150-200 for it or 250 with botw packed in and just include a little disclaimer that says "Some games may require joynscons" or something like that. Call it a day and watch the money flow in. Still keeping my figures crossed that this becomes a reality a year from now when switch sales begin to slow down.

This how you know people just like to complain. You dont even know what you fightining for do you?Show off handheld mode for ARMS, Nintendo. No handheld mode, no buy. I've already thrown away my dock.
Yeah it's always good to just focus on what they clearly outlined and not expect anything else. However when Directs were in full force during the Iwata years, they released a Nintendo direct every other month. Each one would be focused on the games releasing the next few months but they'd usually include a few updates on big titles releasing a little further out. Also usually sneaking in a new title or two that releases in the next 6 months. I don't know and won't expect them to do the same for this direct. I'd expect updates on the two new fire emblem titles releasing this year over Super Mario Odyssey. I feel like they would discuss Pikmin 3DS as well. I could see one new game anouncement for a Switch title releasing late summer - fall and something for 3ds as well.Stop it people
They say it's mainly Splatoon 2 and ARMS and GAF goes: Pokémon, smash, rocket league, Mario, and and and....
Relax 😂
I have no interest in either game, so I hope nintendo has something that will grab my attention.

How does ARMS not grab your attention?
Fighting games are a relatively niche genre.

But say they add an expanded Smash Run and 2 characters.
Totally fair opinion but I chuckled at your username after reading it.I adore my Switch but I have little to no desire to play that game. Just not for me, not much of a fighting game fan.
Hoping we get a demo.

For many reasons (not all) not applying to Arms though.

the fuck are you talking about? we know since day one you can play it traditionally instead of motion controls
They've already confirmed a number of times that you can you use button controls.
Also, I hope the dock comment is a joke, because that would be pretty stupid.
Please keep Tower Control in.I think there's a lot to find out about Splatoon 2. There will almost certainly been some brand new modes.
I honestly don't get the logic of people wanting a "new" Smash, over updating 4. Like, what would that accomplish other than to have the dev team remake every character all over again, and start another multi-year news drip feed where people complain because their favorite character from 4 hasn't been announced yet...
I'd much rather have them use 4 as a base, and add a bunch of QoL enhancements and maybe a new character or two TBH
Huh? The main issue persists: you stay in a confined area and do the same (fight). Most players want to roam around in an interesting environment. At least that's why I find fighting games (incl. Punch-Out) pretty boring; it's too repetitive. Yes, you have all the same characters, but in the end it always boils down to the same thing.
If they had the gameplay system from ARMS in an adventure game where you'd need to run around and fight enemies, that would be truly awesome.
No you were serious, I know youI know they confirmed but we still haven't seen how it works, it might be button controls while still on TV mode. I just want to see how it plays on handheld.
Yeah it was a joke, but it's something I could totally do. I didn't throw it away but it's still in the box, probably will stay that way.

There must be another Mario Kart direct coming later?
The director of Mario Kart 8 is heading it.I don't think ARMS will be nearly good.
For a port?
