Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

Ever Oasis is up for pre-order at VGP for 50CDN with a June 30th release date.

That's hella soon.

I love the enthusiasm but I've seen how these outlandish expectations go in GAF hype threads.

Yep. I was being so good about controlling my hype. I read the "leaks" knowing full well they were probably bullshit, but somewhere in the middle of all this, I just got sucked in. I still know better, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I kind of want something surprising.

I'm at work and definitely can't click 4chan links... But I'm dying to know. Would you do me a favor and copy+paste some text? For an old pal?

I was happy to - but it's been pasted above (thanks Professor Lexicovermis!). I'll transcribe the other one in case people can't see the image:

They don't include stuff in Directs unless it has a new element. They don't just rehash :p

But fine :p

Yeah I know but new info =/= brand new game is all I meant Joseph :D

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse 3D - Why would it be 3D if you use the touch screen?
Zelda BotW DLC - The rumor was talking about new dungeons due for July whereas DLC pack 2 (the pack with the new dungeon) is dated for the end of the year.

I guess it isn't proven but I find it highly unlikely.

Good point on Kirby ATRC! I didn't think of that. It would be so odd to put the top screen as 3D and the bottom as touch o_O

About the BOTW, possible something changed in regards to pack contents or that the poster meant (but didn't specify) that the dungeon would be teased for pack 2 in this Direct, though it's also odd they would say dungeons plural when the DLC says one dungeon only, though again that could have changed (but any major changes to the DLC when the pack is already being sold seem kind of unlikely to me). But I agree things aren't super likely for either leak. I think both are...plausible but not more than 65% likely.

Did the person making that second leak forget that the direct is mainly focused on Splatoon 2 and ARMS? Did they also forget that the 3DS is a thing?

There's some GBA stuff there but yeah it's odd to have no Pikmin 3DS there.

I mean... Nintendo absolutely has the data on the games we've purchased, it's just whether or not they plan to do anything with it! When VC does eventually hit, I expect an upgrade fee for titles we already own.

Hmm. So a fee to move it from my Wii data into the Wii-U mode, then a fee to jump to the Switch... if it's cheaper than rebuying it and it has a future in what ever account system Nintendo makes... I would be fine with it.

Nintendo needs to get in the mindset that they are a service and maintain the profiles of their contributing customers.

I'm not expecting anything to like in this direct just to be sure.
Even for Arms and Splatoon I could be disapointed since I don't see what I want happening.

The leak sounds within the realm of possibility, but doesn't really matter to me whether it's true or not. It's great if it is, of course, but we don't have much longer to wait, so we'll see.

always the same damn story... thread about an announcement with weird american times which mean nothing for those of us in other parts of the world.

when is this happening in european central time?? an hour?? two?

That really wouldn't surprise me. Remember the fake Rayman leak for Smash?

The fake Rayman leak thing was legit because he did that to garner attention for his Youtube drawing channel. This is a random 4chan post that died on the same day.

We've had fan fictions written about Nintendo Directs.

Insanity is always plausible.

This is not even fan fiction, that's someone trying to make a realistic and extremely detailed summary of a standard Nintendo Direct.

Yes, one time. The Switch presentation was leaked also, but as mentioned by others, it was a live presentation and potentially likelier to leak as a result.

i think that was leaked as a result of someone talking about the games shown at the nyc event. i was kind of surprised to see it get out.

i wouldn't put stock into anything that's being passed around this time.

HOPE THIS IS TRUE! I'm sooooo thirsty for VC

Thank you so much. If I missed anyone who went through the trouble of posting the details, thank you too.

Have any of those ND "leaks" ended up real in the past?

Yes, the NoE leak, which was actually the first of these directory leaks.

As I said, that was actually taken of a Windows environment, whereas this "leak" is of Mac OS, which is pretty damning. Well that and "Arms" instead of "ARMS".

I hope this Direct has a lot of 3DS announcements (titles and release dates or launch windows for the announced games, maybe a new game or two) so that E3 can focus on Switch. I don't mind Nintendo continuing to support 3DS, but I think at this point 3DS does make more sense as their budget product that they more quietly support while Switch gets the most valuable advertising time.

Should I use windows or mac for my fake screenshots oops wrong forum

Whichever you choose, don't forget to capture an image at an exactly 30 degree tilt - it helps if you're shaking or moving slightly when taking the shot. Blur adds much more authenticity than just a regular still image.

This right here reads like a bunch of BS, "Emulation looks a lot better than the Wii U’s. Comparable to the NES Classic" How would you be able to tell that? I'd be happy to be wrong but that stood out to me.

Is that Smash Bros fanfiction still the longest one in existance? Is it still ongoing?

What about the SmashGAF one that (used to?) exist *lennyface.jpg*

This counts for other the things too, like fotographing ghosts.

Some of these leaks seem way to big for a Direct this close to E3. If they were going to show off VC, Smash, Ever Oasis, Warioware, etc they wouldn't have said it is focusing on ARMS and Splatoon. I do remember a pre E3 direct 2(?) years back that was somewhat beefy, however (the one that revealed Chibi-Robo). In that case I think they were trying to clear house before the proper E3 event since they actually had stuff to show off. The Switch could put them in that position again with a good E3 lineup so they could use this for smaller announcements. I just don't see them announcing Smash anywhere but E3.

Personally hoping we get Virtual Console news though, and ARMS amiibo in the form of bobbleheads since we're making wishes.

The third boxboy game is already out in Europe and is called "bye bye boxboy". Since the leak mention the game, I suppose it is for a US release...but with a different name ? Yeah sure.
