Clinton: 'I was on the way to winning' until Comey, Russia intervened

She's not wrong, but she would have won in spite of Comey and Russia if she had tried harder to win the Rust Belt. She was too concerned with making history by stealing Georgia and Arizona.

Arizona was closer than many want to admit. But yes she should have worked on the states that went with Obama not the ones that did not.

I understand where she's coming from and shit supports it, but she still lost to fucking Donald Trump. Ya know, the dude that bragged about sexual assualt. And that was just the top layer of the fucked up cake.

There's pretty much nothing that can be said that can make her loss easier. She should have ran a better campaign and attacked him more on his faults, period. The high road could only go so far in that election unfortunately. She was driving above everyone including the American people and never thought to use the low road. Even though the low road can get grimy, it's also a way to connect to the public.

Wait...some people say she only focused on Trump's negatives and not on policy and you are suggesting that she didn't speak out about them enough?!?

Agreed for the most part, but remember the complaints in the discussion over her campaign primarily negative ads? Plus, the media would never let a democrat, much less a woman, stoop to a quarter as much negativity that DJT was flinging. Calls some of his voters a name and we still hear about it. Him calling for her assassination? Merely a footnote nowadays.

It honestly wouldn't have mattered. People are still ignoring why people voted for Trump, it ain't pretty. Hillary was never going to get 40-45ish% of the country to support her, she was fighting for 5-10%.

Trump is an R, that is more than enough for 40% of the country. Add to that he was lighting up some of the reddest meat in history and it stoked closet X, Y, and Z to line up. The external forces made up the difference.

Holy shit, the hypocrisy here is incredible.

Not to mention if Hillary wasn't progressive enough for these folks Biden should drive them nuts.

It's always puzzling when I see people rail on Hillary for not being progressive enough and then clamor for Biden. Are they just ignorant? Are they sexist? Did they take the right wing bait of the multi-decade Hillary smear campaign? All of the above?

If we are going to get into "If Bernie is so great why didn't he win the primaries" then you have to take into account that the Clinton name is a household one. Many voters didn't even know who Sanders was until deep into the Primary process and the Media was doing an abysmal job of compairing the two candidates. If Bernie was running against anyone else I believe it would have been a much different story.

So, Hillary losing is all her fault, and Sanders losing is none of his fault?

nice

Many are too young to remember that Obama ran to Hillary's right.

They just don't want to admit what is blatantly obvious: it's a popularity contest.

The same people railing on Hillary for not being a progressive would be A-Ok with Good Ol' Pervy Uncle Joe!

this is completely backwards lol. her campaign was nothing but negative ads about him. as a result she failed to define herself. ditto for all the media attention her campaign money bought, it simply amplified the worst stuff Trump said. with no real world examples of her fighting for any of the left's supposed causes (in fact she threw the Aids cause under the bus earlier last year at Nancy Reagan's funeral) the Dem campaign relied entirely on Trump for negative definition.

she fucked this up so many ways it isn't even funny. the biggest irony is that her voting for the Iraq War and Patriot Act helped push the country in the xenophobic/racist direction, in a very large way Donald Trump is her fault. he can capitalize on that stuff only because she enabled W in the first place.

Many are too young to remember that Obama ran to Hillary's right.

nope, he was against the Iraq War. this was a big part of his campaign. this was in his book, on his website. she has never really reconciled her role in enabling that and the ensuing shitshow.

Did they take the right wing bait of the multi-decade Hillary smear campaign?

Hard not to be influenced by this, especially if it's channeled through the AT LEAST latent and/or mild sexism that our civilization imbues every single man with.

She's had people saying she's evil incarnate longer than they've been alive.

You seem to forget the rigging that definitely happened. no worries, they'll let you know.

"The DNC was rigged because a few members had biases and Donna Brazille was dumb and that's why Bernie lost by 3 million votes in an election with less votes than the GE"

"The Russians helped elect Trump according to multiple intelligence agencies including the FBI which even had a preference for Trump both in its leader and various members but that had nothing to do with Hillary losing even though she won the PV by 3 million"

nope, he was against the Iraq War. this was a big part of his campaign. this was in his book, on his website. she has never really reconciled her role in enabling that and the ensuing shitshow.
I really don't consider that a left/right position. He could afford to take that stance at the time, she couldn't. His policy positions were to her right.

She aint wrong, but she was running even with Trump, who did enough things to nuke any normal candidates chances of winning 1000x over. That one thing which turned out to be nothing shouldn't have cost her the win.

I'm still not entirely convinced Comey had a huge effect on the race. Back in 2012, I remember everyone cautioning that if Obama was polling sub-50%, nothing was guaranteed in the EC, even if he was consistently ahead of Romney. I'm surprised I barely ever heard that about Hillary when she pretty much only ever topped out at 48%.

She never did? Never? I think you should take a second and look that up.

There were state level polls that showed this- but not many of them were public because not many were bothering with them that late. Campaign staff, stat wonks, and pollsters have agreed with this - http://thehill.com/homenews/campaig...certainly-wouldve-won-if-election-were-before http://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2017...mey-letter-cost-hillary-clinton-the-election/

Would you have supported Biden as POTUS? Just curious, its OT.

How are you not convinced, it is full stop what served as the death blow.

Oh undeniably; one thing people should forget is that Clinton did very well in the south, at least comparatively. Her performance in Texas for instance is, IIRC, the best for a Democrat since Bill's first, I believe.

I voted for her but damn Hillary plan to win is why she lost. Biden and sanders would have had a better chance than her. This is my opinion. Her statement is her opinion she should stop acting like it was fact. People screaming racist and deplorable haven't learned shit. Makes me worry for who they think could win in 4 years.

I wish Clinton would just go away. This shit will dominate the news and theres real news going on that will get blown over for this. Id rather the news be dominated by the ACA and other bullshit Trump is trying so people feel compelled to contact their congressmen.

Interesting. Admittedly I kind of went radio silent on a lot of the election postmortem analysis suff because I was so traumatized, heh.

Didn't you get the memo? EVERYTHING is the fault of THOSE CORPORATIST PHONY NEOLIBERAL SHILL DEMOCRATS ESPECIALLY HILLARY AND THE DNC.

Bernie lost? Hillary and DNC's fault
Hillary lost? Hillary and DNC's fault
Feingold Lost? Hillary and the DNC's fault
Prop 8 passed in Cali? Hillary and the DNC's fault
Betsy Devos getting confirmed? Well according to Jill Stein its the fault of the Democrats even though she got zero democratic votes
Literal Nazis harassing minorities? neoliberals' faults
Terrorist Attack? Democrats' faults
Gorsuch getting Scalia's seat? Democrats' faults
Coal Jobs on the decline? Thanks Obama!!!

Oh yeah it's really dominating the airwaves. You don't hear anything but Hillary Clinton.

I tried to repress those feelings, but those consistently high undecided numbers were always worrying. (which also plays into a Comey bomb doing serious last-minute damage)

Do tell. She lost because of her own responsibilities (i.e flaws) and external factors...cause that is what the interview showed. Maybe you should read about her position as to why she lost.

As noted, Sanders couldn't beat Hillary, so why would he have beat Trump?

We aren't all screaming racist, deplorable. If you would notice we have been talking about the various factors that led to her losing...just like she did.

The hate boner for Hillary really is amazing. Truly wonder why that is.

Well the 1st POTUS has spoken; someone tell the House and Senate to wrap it up.

Have they found Sir Benjamin Ghazi yet? He must be hiding at © Mar-a-Lago™ ®.

On a more serious note, to all those saying that Biden would have had the same problems as Hillary, please stop. That notion is illogical at best.

Actually the people who still aren't convinced that large subsets of the Trump base are racist and deplorable still haven't learned.

As for who could win? Someone who doesn't entertain that nonsense and energizes the Dem base, because there were more non-voters who leaned Dem than wishy-washy Trump voters who could be swayed to vote for a liberal candidate ever again.

People screaming racist and deplorable haven't learned shit. Makes me worry for who they think could win in 4 years.

Shhh, don't rattle the white people's crib or sure enough they'll start bawling like an aye-aye passing a stone in front of a PA system and dear God I will NEVER get any shuteye

This is why news Republicans, news organizations and the anti-Dem left all hope that nothing can be proven about the Russian intel collusion, because it must solely rest on her shoulders, and if it's out of the news, it can be brushed under the rug as "well, it didn't matter that much." I mean, Clinton took responsibility for loss (something her opponent could never do), but it's still not enough. She must also admit that constant attacks were a normal hazard of a campaign where the opponent was forgiven for past self-inflicted errors every time he blundered into a new scandal.

I don't understand the "she lost to DONALD TRUMP OF ALL PEOPLE" sentiment. We should be appalled by his candidacy by all conventional means, but Donald Trump's candidacy is by far from conventional.

He beat 17 GOP candidates and the overwhelming frontrunner Hillary Clinton. He has been an icon in American culture for decades and got 63 million votes. Not bad for a non-politician.

No I'm not praising Trump but we have to stop with this "Donald Trump = weak candidate" as much as we have to understand why people voted for him in order to move forward and beat him in 2020.

Should Hillary have beaten Trump? Yes. Does her loss to Trump prove she was a weak candidate? No, not inherently.

I wish Clinton would just go away. This shit will dominate the news and theres real news going on that will get blown over for this. Id rather the news be dominated by the ACA and other bullshit Trump is trying so people feel compelled to contact their congressmen.

This is the first interview Hillary has given since the election over 6 months ago.

It is incredibly unrealistic, unfair to the millions of people who proudly voted for her, and not to mention incredibly petty to think that she should just go away. People want to hear from her. Her supporters want to hear from her.

By that same argument, you-know-who should also begone.
