So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

Why the hell is the Switch so expensive in Europe?!

I was wandering around a Saturn in Poland and they happened to be restocking and had six or seven Switches to put out...I dont really have an interest in the Switch but with Zelda on the shelf too I decided why not..go to ring it up, 1500 zloty for the console alone (basically $399)! I said no thanks and walked out.

It's probably something about Poland, it's 330€ in Spain.

You know fuck bestbuy. I call the store to see if they have any at store level. Nice man says let me check, says he has 12 left, 6 of each sku.

Perfect I'll be right down I say. 30 minutes I was there. Grabbed Zelda, pro controller, and screen protector but noticed none were on the shelf (console) so I thought maybe they have them behind the counter. I take my items to the counter and ask for the goat black and grey switch. He says nope sorry we don't have any. I was like I just called and someone said you have 12 of them?

He was like ya nope. So I then asked for a manager, who then proceeds to tell me they have 12 of them but can t sell them until Sunday for there ad break and ticket event.

Then proceeds to tell me they couldn't even try to sell me one because the system won't allow them to ting it up till Sunday.

Wtf????

Fuck you best buy fuck you. Guess they don't want my business

And cherry on top, they were like would you like me to ring up the other items.
Nope, and you can put them back to the shelf yourself as well

Some earlier posts in this thread confirmed that units were being held for a "relaunch" this Sunday, unfortunately on the phone you got a dummy who only answered your question in the most literal way possible. They HAD Switches in stock, he just left out the part where they couldn't sell any until Sunday. If I hadn't been lucky with mine today I would've tried Sunday at my BB.

I would still try to go Sunday.

Last thursday I preordered a Switch (Arms Direct sold me one), yesterday I receive a call from the store... next shipment won't happen until Splatoon 2 pack (I've preordered but I expected some shipment this month or next...).

Talking about Spain.

Kogan were doing them via their site and on their ebay store with a code (to get the discount). Looks to be over now. Watch Oz Bargain - these promos often pop up again.

You mean the slightly dodgey ass sales where there's about 5 units for sale that sell in <5mins?

Funnily enough, this same thing happened to me (person on the phone didn't mention they weren't being sold yet). But that's fine. I'll be in line 4 hours before opening because why not.

Good news for nintendo. I posted this some days ago.

so I went to my local Saturn in Germany and I can safely say, the scarcity is over.

it took 2 months, but it's readily available, took this pic today

I took that pic on Tuesday, today Saturday I went again and how did it look? there you go

the thirst is real. I didn't ask if this was another batch or the one from some days ago but it's moving so that's good. it's in the city of Bremen

please notice the 20+ NES mini controllers to the side of the switches that nobody needs because nobody owns a NES mini. I swear nintendo is sometimes so stupid with their stock and supplies.

Just got mine at Best Buy in Durham, NC. Didn't have to wait in line or buy a bundle, they had vouchers for individual systems at the doors.

They also had docks and joycons in both colors, if anyone needs those.

Now for the hard choice: Puyo Puyo Tetris physical or digital?

Physical is $10 more expensive which turns to ~$32 with GCU before tax. Digital is $30 before tax. I've yet to decide myself lol.

I want a different colored set of Joy-Con, but they seem harder to find than an actual Switch.

No kidding. They are never in stock anywhere.

I bought a set of neon joy cons to go with my neon switch from GameStop a few weeks ago, then no shipping notice, then finally an order cancellation notice. Hey @*#($, don't sell something you don't have in stock. They suck.

Anyway, found two sets for a friend and myself at a small town WalMart coming back from the beach. Thanks Brick Seek.

I have to drive from Charleston to Charlotte today and I was wondering if yall had any tips for finding one. Should I check small towns or Charlotte? And will I have the most luck at Target you think?

So, someone has made a neon version of the Vita-girl-Switch gif by now, right? Because I'm in need of it.

I went to my local (for a generous definition of "local") Best Buy today, not actually expecting to get one. I got there about half an hour before opening, and noticed that while there were a few people by the doors, it didn't look like an actual "line" and most people were waiting in their cars. I decided to wait in my car for a few minutes, but got bored and decided to wait near the entrance.

After a few minutes an employee came out and started distributing tickets. He said they had 15 Switches in stock. I was the fifth person to get a ticket. By the time the store opened, there were about a dozen of us in line with tickets, about half of whom chose the neon version.

As the doors were opening, there was suddenly a flood of people wanting to get in - the people who were waiting in their cars, I suppose. Counting the line and the new additions, I'd be surprised if there were less than 30 of us there for those 15 systems. I heard one of the new arrivals asking, "Why does everyone have tickets?" I feel bad for them. Sure, they weren't in line, but I didn't realize that there was a line until I was near the door, since it was hidden by a pillar.

Now that I have a Switch, I'm feeling a bit conflicted, myself. Not because I wasn't sure if I wanted one, but because getting it blew enough of my gaming budget that I can only afford one game for it right now, and I'm not sure if I should go with Zelda (which I'm pretty much guaranteed to like) or Mario Kart. I've never played a Mario Kart before, or really any kart racers (I did try the Sonic Transformed demo on the Vita, and I didn't like it), but if I'm going to get it I'd prefer to do so before Nintendo starts charging for online.

Tecumseh, MI Shopko has at least two gray switches almost got one again.

Man, every time I drive by a Shopko in Michigan (I can only think of two) I'm amazed they're still open. Not a criticism of their stores or anything, just that I never hear anyone mention them and I practically forget they exist until I see it.

I love both games, but I'd go with Zelda over Mario Kart. It's outstanding and will give you so much entertainment. I have about 150 hours invested and still enjoy exploring and finding new things. So good!

Hmmm, I understand your reasoning with the online and all that but then again, if Zelda is fun to you for sure then I wouldn't know why you'd risk it on Mario Kart? Sonic Transformed is a really great game in that genre, more hardcore than Mario Kart but I'm having a hard time imagining you'd like it THAT much more.

Get the game you like and spend a lot of hours with it. You can finish it after 5 hours or 150, that's up to you. So why not get the game you will definetly enjoy?
You can get Mario Kart later on when you maybe tried it at a friend or whatever and got your budget up again.

If you can spare another 20 bucks I would suggest you Thumper in addition to Zelda or Snipperclips for the same amount for some small multiplayer sessions.

wow...so difficult to score a switch...I went to a bunch of Targets and Best Buys in LA this week and nothing..It's like the Wii all over again.

Tecumseh, MI Shopko has at least two gray switches almost got one again.

Wait, Shopko sells Switches? I've got a Shopko in the little farm town next to mine and Shopko isn't a super big store in south MN. I wonder if I can score one. Would not be surprised if they have them sitting in there untouched cause nobody bothered to check there.

Last time I was in Orangeburg about a week ago the Walmart had three of them in the case, just sitting there. Think small towns can be a bit overlooked.

Though the Walmart in Orangeburg is well off I-26, miles out of the way. May not be worth the time.

I got to my Best Buy an hour after it opened and asked one of the guys if they still have any Switch left neon color. He went up front to check and told me yes they had them. Told me to go up front and ask for it so i did. Asked another guy and he goes to get it for me. I asked if it was limit 1 per customer he says 2 so I bought a 2nd one for my nephew who was looking for 1. Honestly I thought I wasn't going to be able to get any after being an hour late(actually wasn't planning on buying it). Maybe supply has finally caught up with demand?

Forgot to buy a screen protector so I went to fry's and also bought a microfiber. Fuck i think i added extra lint with the microfiber.

I bought one and returned it a month ago. Now I'm hankering again and no one in my area has one... Some smug fuck at Gamestop laughed at me when I asked if they had any in stock. Like, I'm just trying to get a Nintendo, dude. Get a real job.

When do y'all reckon Nintendo will keep up with demand/replenish stock?

I'm still searching too and that would have infuriated me. Immediate escalation

My brother and sister-n-law both work at target and said that they're probably going to keep any Switch they get and create stock for the holidays

I don't get it; why would they hold on to it? A sale now is the same as a sale later. They're only adding to the demand, enabling scalpers!

like... Memorial Day? If not, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Target's just going to throw the hottest retail item in a closet for 6 months?

I expect the ramping up of production to be kicking into full gear towards the end of May/first half of June, although we probably won't be able to tell for sure until the June NPD releases, if this expectation turns out to be the case (maybe we can in the Media Create threads, though).

Any idea what holidays? If they mean the summer vacation and Splatoon 2 launch, then it makes a little bit more sense (still not a lot).

I'm in Charleston and got a Neon one last week. Check istocknow.com, it seems like the Walmarts here are restocking every week although they sell out quick.
