So, someone has made a neon version of the Vita-girl-Switch gif by now, right? Because I'm in need of it.
I went to my local (for a generous definition of "local") Best Buy today, not actually expecting to get one. I got there about half an hour before opening, and noticed that while there were a few people by the doors, it didn't look like an actual "line" and most people were waiting in their cars. I decided to wait in my car for a few minutes, but got bored and decided to wait near the entrance.
After a few minutes an employee came out and started distributing tickets. He said they had 15 Switches in stock. I was the fifth person to get a ticket. By the time the store opened, there were about a dozen of us in line with tickets, about half of whom chose the neon version.
As the doors were opening, there was suddenly a flood of people wanting to get in - the people who were waiting in their cars, I suppose. Counting the line and the new additions, I'd be surprised if there were less than 30 of us there for those 15 systems. I heard one of the new arrivals asking, "Why does everyone have tickets?" I feel bad for them. Sure, they weren't in line, but I didn't realize that there was a line until I was near the door, since it was hidden by a pillar.
Now that I have a Switch, I'm feeling a bit conflicted, myself. Not because I wasn't sure if I wanted one, but because getting it blew enough of my gaming budget that I can only afford one game for it right now, and I'm not sure if I should go with Zelda (which I'm pretty much guaranteed to like) or Mario Kart. I've never played a Mario Kart before, or really any kart racers (I did try the Sonic Transformed demo on the Vita, and I didn't like it), but if I'm going to get it I'd prefer to do so before Nintendo starts charging for online.
