Capcom just doesn't seem... cool anymore.

its 2017... you can't really market to niche markets anymore. even KoF is "modern" now

don't hate the player but the game, ect

And that freaking Banana hair. If he loses a round in the Hillside Plaza stage and gets the bananas on his head, they just blend into his hair.

Hah, yeah actually after seeing that for the first time not too long ago I was like "this has to be an inside joke from Capcom."

I'm still overall pretty positive on SFV as casual though, but the Capcom that brought me a very well optimized port of Dragon's Dogma is easily my coolest Capcom.

Dragon's dogma on pc is not a port, same goes for every other x360 era capcom (as in not outsourced) game that is also on pc.

Oh I didn't realize it's not considered a port. Is it considered a full separate re-release then? It is the MT Framework right?

MTF games are made pc first, the 360 build has the most parity, and the build lagging behind the most is the ps3 one.
The pc version of dragon's dogma has pretty much always existed, just released later.

I get what you're saying about Street Fighter, but I think V is actually a step back in the right direction. It looks more like what I expect out of Street Fighter, compared to the last game. IV and SFxT were pretty ugly games looking back. Especially the character models.

The new MvC however looks boring as hell so far, compared to 3 which looked just fine to me.

Things change. Capcom is an old company. People leave, retire, change roles, etc. You may have worked at a place where you know there is only a few people with true talent and vision while the rest are just looking to be told what to do. I don't think you can look at any company and just instantly associate their brand with a seal of quality. You have to evaluate on a game by game basis. For every hit there could be many average to stinkers.

Eh, SF3 designs are pretty forgettable for the most part IMHO. I only like Makoto and Dudley, actually. That being said, at least for female characters, you can definitely give up on cool designs, they only come in DOA flavour now.

I feel like I am alone in thinking MVC3 looked like total dogshit. Granted the new one is even worse and lacks any defining style, but I also felt that only MVC1 looked great and correctly captured the allure of the source material properly. (MVC2 was just all over the place and doesn't really count)

what i miss are the original art work from the OG Capcom artist.

now we get 3d render crap

I bet you thats more Marvel than Capcom calling the shots on that one, they gotta look like the movies, after all

Youre not alone, I thought 3 looked awful as well. 4, however, looks much worse.

I never played SF4 but I watched matches alllll the time.
I can't watch SF5. Nicali really bothers me. What a barf of a character design.

That's Capcom's idea of cool.

Even had that trash theme added to the trailer. Like, it's like your dad trying to dress like you while holding a boombox saying "yo homie yo", that's what it was.

They don't get it.

You are clearly being disingenuous and leaving out his story and battle costumes but that's expected coming from you.

The one and only reason they're not as "cool" in my books as they could be is the lack of Breath of Fire... on any platform for crying out loud! So long as it's not smart devices. That and I demand RE4 or some kind of RE presence on Switch...

You know that I can't talk SFV with you with your "Captain Save-A-Game" mindset towards it lol. You can keep defending this all you want because you like it but my statement stands.

You need to take that cape off and stop heading to the booth.

I think another factor is their current budget presence. Obviously you don't need a huge budget to make a good game. But all of their bigger titles as of late, you can just kind of feel that something is "missing". SFV, Rev 2, and RE7 all suffer from it.

Not really anything more than a gut feeling. But if there was ever a sort of capcom quality or charm in prior gens. This gen seems to be missing it.

I totally agree about MVC1 and 2, but I don't know, 3 always did the job for me. I guess you could argue it looks a bit boring and the backgrounds were just there but overall nothing stood out as bad for me.

It's not capcom's idea of cool, it's capcom's idea of neo shadoloo.
If you don't think it's cool, that's fine, someone else might (and probably does, because taste isn't universal).

Your mistake is thinking that somehow these designs are tailormade to your preferences, they aren't.
You can think that whatever you want, but that doesn't make his theme song trash or his design uncool, because those thing are, as a matter of fact, subjective.

Your second mistake was using subjectivity as proof in an argument.

Why are you so defensive? If you think dude is cool and the trailer is cool you can think that but I heavily stick by that statement because that's what I feel. Secondly, you need to relax because you've got an issue with others' opinions. If you disagree? Like I've said before, you can disagree but it really looks as though you're hurt by the fact that I said it's not cool so you're trying to respond defensively when you yourself weren't damaged towards the post for some reason. My post isn't an attack towards you so what's your issue? The mistake here is the fact you got upset at someone's post on a forum towards a fictional character. That's lame.

I don't know what you're on but you need to chill. If you think that's cool? Keep thinking that because I'll keep saying it was lame. Nowhere in my post did I say "if you think this is cool you're out of touch so get defensive." You can't make me change my words lol.

Oh the irony of "Captain Save-A-Game" comment, especially with you moving every goal post imaginable in Tekken 7 threads. At least I admit the obvious issues ("cool" isn't one of them) with SFV unlike you with Tekken, so if anyone has a cape (with Harada's name on it), it's clearly you.

Juri in SSF4 was the only reason I bought it. She looks godawful in SF5, with the exception of the eyepatch.
Also SF5 gave me no reason to get it, SSF4 is plenty good already.

I can see where the OP is coming from. Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike oozed with a kind of style that you would never see in a modern game today.

It's precisely why so many people swear that it's the best fighting game ever even though they've barely played it, if at all.

Bruh, you can keep whining about T7 in all these threads like the SFV OT and this one (when I wasn't even talking about T7) but the reality is you're out here thinking you're Supes trying to defend SFV when people make comments towards it simply because you love it. You straight up responded to me towards my comments on Ed like they hurt you simply because you've got an issue when this is an entire thread full of shots towards SFV. People know it, you know it. You need to learn that others have opinions and you being so defensive towards them is a problem.

Keep trying to be Clark Kent on this forum defending SFV and taking shots at other fighters like we all see you do because at the end of the day the issue isn't anyone making comments about SFV, the issue here is you actively trying to slide in the booth to stop these words because you love the game. God bless you but you need to get that fixed.

What an incredible shitpost.
I wasn't defensive before but I sure am now.

My post was nothing more than a statement on how inaccurate your statement was. I was not upset, I was not defensive; you said something that wasn't accurate and I called that out.
Your next reply even had an ad hominem because someone disagreed with you, perhaps you are the one that needs to "chill".

My post was never about me, or what I think about the character, I never posted my opinion on the character, and in fact wasn't actually about the goddamn character specifically but about you using a subjective matter as some sort of proof that they "don't get it":
That's Capcom's idea of cool.

They don't get it.
There's nothing factual in what you said here, yet you state it as if it is, trashing his theme song also did nothing to strengthen your argument.
You don't like it, fine, but that doesn't mean "they don't get it", it just simply means you don't like it, period.

I think Capcom, from the PS3/360/Wii days onward, tried too hard to appeal to western demographics and lost their traditional japanese feeling. IMO, they went through a process to become a western developer. That's why some of their games like RE and DMC became more like of a game target for the western tastes and Lost Planet, Dragon's Dogma and Dead Rising, very western aesthetic-like, got a special attention.

I think they should go back to their roots and bring back their traditional feeling again. They aren't western, despite their attempt to sound like.

MonHun is probably their biggest series right now and definitely not catered for the west

Dawg, you've been in this entire thread defending Capcom and SFV and it really looks as though you're finding reasons to post in defense of it right now simply because of what this thread is. I don't care if you call my post a "shitpost", I don't care if you tell me what I need to do or make comments towards what you think I did wrong. Do what you do. At the end of the day, you somehow got offended enough to post in defense simply because you felt my words hurt you even though they were directed at Capcom and SFV. The fact is you got mad at the "they don't get it, that's not cool" comment simply because those are my own words when all throughout this thread there's been people making negative comments the same as me. Look throughout all these pages. Through this thread you've got people saying Capcom hasn't been cool since they took out Megaman, saying Capcom has never been cool, saying they've lost their touch and whatnot and yet here you are getting offended by me making my comments. I don't know what your issue is but you need to chill and relax. Responding to me? When you did not respond to others makes it look like you're really trying to find a reason to respond negatively against me. If you got an issue? Hit me up with a PM. If not? Shit's lame.

I stick by my statement. If you disagree? Keep disagreeing.

he does the story art for SFV

This is why you don't short change your artists

RE7 is an amazing game with near universal acclaim.

Not sure what you're on about.
Just like everything else, it isn't what all RE fans would like. So even with "near universal acclaim" it doesn't make it perfect.
To be fair no RE game will ever bridge everyone at this point though.
Even still though there was some fuckery going on with that game. Datamining tells us that they withheld original content for the game so they could sell it as DLC.
Then there's that whole end game fiasco.

*shitpost*.

Lol, "dawg" I don't even know who you are, you must have some ego to think I'm somehow targeting you, smh jesus christ.

I also haven't made a single post in this thread "defending capcom" at all, but you are free to point those posts out if you want.

And lastly, my reply to you was no different than this post in reply to ike, correcting an incorrect statement, but look at the extreme difference in reaction, the only one that got upset here is you.

Sure go ahead and not care, I never said you should care, I just said what you said is wrong :], you can do with that info what you want, but "sticking by your statement" is such a fine attitude to have on a discussion forum, goes well with the ad hominem usage.

Carry on.

Not defending Capcom here , they made many weird decisions . But people can be really hating for no reason , SFV Ken looks amazing in game. Not only he doesn't looks like Ryu clone anymore , he has cool fighting pose and movesets .

We are well beyond that. I do regret singling her out, honestly. Should have picked Fang.

FANG is a way better design than Remy, Twelve or Necro.

There's something to be said about minimalism in design, and I think your right that Capcom has moved away from that to their own detriment, but your entire thesis is based around the idea that SF3 is "the GOAT", when public perception of that cast is mixed at best.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say no Street Fighter ever was criticized for it's cast more than SF3 in it's day.

You responded to me because of my negative comments towards SFV and Capcom and you used the "it's subjective, you think it's lame but it doesn't mean others agree you're wrong" angle but the reality is you did the same thing as me earlier here. The fact is, you responded because my comments were on the other side of the coin. Take your own advice and understand that your opinions towards SFV and Capcom are subjective but the reason no one responded to you here is because everyone knew shit's subjective. Trying to find a reason to argue is lame. Also, respond to everyone else you seemed to have missed rather than just me simply because you got upset at my comments because I disagreed with you.

That's my last post to you in this thread. You got some shit to think about. God bless.

On with the thread.
