Omg

People saying cap only has 2 shield slashes but he has one with each button? Straight, up, down, and a boomerang throw that looks like it'll be dirty on wake up and tags.

I'm honestly really bummed that the LMHS control scheme was dropped for LP/HP/LK/HK. It makes a lot of the move sets feel awkwardly restructured.

It's definitely something I gotta get used to. I hadn't been following the game as close as possible, but was it already known that the control scheme would change like this? 'Cause I was pretty surprised in the control settings since I figured they'd still be using the L/M/H/S set-up.

So don't cater to casuals but *do* cater to casuals.

The game has a story mode. It has input assists. It has MCU characters.

That market is covered.

The rest of us, who will probably only play story mode once, if at all, can at least be glad that the stuff that matters is good.

Casuals still bring in that big money at the gate so the game can reach its sales predictions. Currently, especially from a presentation perspective that audience is going to look at this and wonder why it isn't Injustice 2 levels.

Granted we know why. Inj2 has like 10x more budget than this game. But still you'd think Capcom would try more for that audience. Since I don't fee catering to them with better presentation would hurt anything for more hardcore fighters.

I don't even care about the faces all that much but the voice acting and 'story' in this demo were awful considering they were the main focus.

I imagine it will take some time to get used to the change in controls though I can't tell from this tiny slice whether or not the change from L-M-H-Launcher is a good one or not. Current feeling is 'no'

Really disappointed in general with the game now that I've had a chance to try it. Gameplay's solid but still clunkier than UMvC3, graphics are middling to poor, cast is lacking. I'm a long-since lapsed Dragon Ball fan but if I want my eccentric team-battle fighting game fix, I sure as hell know what game I'll be buying.

I love how people bitch about how the roster, complain about how it has so many returning staples, then ask for Doom back.

Capcom will never be able to please people when the demands are so all over the place.

The good news is that now that we have this game to take the heat people will start talking about how great SFV is.

That's the Capcom cycle.

Exactly. Polished gameplay for the hardcore, polished everything else for the casuals.

Man don't kid yourself. Nobody gives a shit about a story mode.

A large amount of casual players do. The only reason I played Injustice 1, MK9 and MKX were to play their story modes.

Single player content is important for that audience, and story mode is an essential part of this.

The game and its roster got butchered so that they can have a big story mode like this. It's not even good.

Damn you NRS. Damn you to hell.

I'll never understand why Capcom of all people, who reused Morrigan's sprite until the pixels were falling off, decided to redo Chun's face for the worse in every game after SFIV. :(

Her SFV face is an improvement over her SFIV face. Ditto for Cammy. Ibuki got rekt, though.

I would rather have single player modes like the MK towers or Heroes and Heralds than Story Mode.

But I also find the NRS story modes just as boring and corny as this shit.

Story modes really don't have much reason to be in fighters because the stories are bound to be nonsense and trash to justify all these peoole fighting each other.

Story Mode is actually pretty important these days. NRS understands this and made it the main focus of their marketing. Even Capcom added it to SFV even tho it was pretty crap. MvC:I's Story demo looked pretty awful. Everything from the VO to the choregraphy looked like an old game. It's like when games had those awkward ass cutscenes. Pretty surprising to me how dated it looks. Def a throwaway mode for Capcom.

I just noticed Captain Marvel's new design. She looks like some third rate waifu you'd expect a Skyrim modder to make.
Are you talking about her current outfit?
I loved the demo. The story isn't any worse than what passes for Marvel comics lately, and better than the MCU movie Ultron was in. Yes, the character models look ass in cut-scenes, but everything looks and plays great for me in the actual fighting. It's a smooth 60FPS on XBO despite all the effects going on, which only breaks down after the match ends. I'll take this over Injustice 2.

Your not reading good Marvel comics.

So after playing the demo I'll say it again. Its like someone wrote a terrible fanfiction of mvc. The demo is absolute amateur hour as well. The character models are iffy. The voice overs aren't that good. The dialogue is cringey. its just bad. Theres absolutely no chemistry or charm between the interactions of characters either. Also was Captain America always that buff?
For the brands that make billions at the box office in Marvel's Universe, you would think they'd go big on production. The VO and likeness should be from Hollywood. Not like Capcom is new to this. They hired a big name for Onimusha 3. If they put Dead Pool in this and Ryan Renalds is not in, I'm skipping story. If Nolan North is Dead Pool, I'm not touching that character.

I'm honestly really bummed that the LMHS control scheme was dropped for LP/HP/LK/HK. It makes a lot of the move sets feel awkwardly restructured and just... sloppy. Why does the Shin Shoryuken use two kick buttons?

it has used kick buttons before actually, cvs2 for example

The thing about a good story mode is polish, good direction and good writing. This one is sadly missing all of that.

Then throw the interruptions by loading screens, and it doesn't maske sense, even less after SFV suffered from the exact same problems.

NRS can't be blamed for this, especially when the first time they did their now "famous" story mode, was in 2008 and using Unreal Engine 3 for the first time. Yet the cutscenes were well directed and there were no interruptions or loading screens.

And budget was as limited as it could considering they were also working under a nearly bankrupt Midway.

One can only hope is just the demo. At least the game per se seems fine.

I haven't quite decided, but I'm leaning that way. The four button scheme in MvC2 never really clicked with me. I'll reserve judgement until I see how they handle mapping Spider-Man's move set.

So... I finally just got my fill of the demo..

1. There's something very clunky about the movement in this game... and even the walking animations for some characters look....off.

2. I'm really not going to go into the character models. 199+ people have done that for me.

3. As someone else had stated, the banner between characters are somewhat corny.. It's like we're suppose to get hype because Rocket said the name, Dante.

4. I still stand from what I've stated before. The tagging mechanic is very fun. I love being able to tag in at any time. Though, your partner stays out there for a very unnecessary period of time. To a point that its weird seeing a character just standing there.

5. I notice you're able to do an Infinity Storm in the air. I did it by accident. Even started a dope combo because of it but noobly dropped it in an instant lol.

6. As previously mentioned by others, the demo was very short, not because only like 5 matches, but because those matches are finished before they're even started. Almost like Capcom didnt want you to train with a character through the demo.

7. So far... Everyone just feels off to me. I do love Captain Marvel though. I don't know if I'll pick the game up but theres at least one character I like.

8. I'm not trying to mean but overall this game just feels like it was intended to be a mobile game, and half way through, plans were changed to bring it to consoles.

Nooo way dude. Maybe the story gets better later on (I certainly hope so!), but what's present in the demo right now is fucking terrible. Don't know what comics and movies you've looked at, but I haven't seen writing this bad for a while. The iffy voice acting for some of the characters certainly doesn't help.
Do you glance at any issue of Civil War II? Seriously, all of Marvel's big crossover events have been dogshit lately. At least this was silly, and not taking itself too seriously.

Meanwhile, people are gushing all over other recently released and announced fighting games that aren't SFV or MvC:I.
Can't help it capcom is the bad guy, they are one of the most hated companies in the industry now, and somehow they keep on screwing up they always end up messing up something.

Dear Capcom,

This game should not come out in September
it need to be delayed until November 30 ala FFXV

Include all the deluxe characters and fix the shaders and character models and HUD.
In the mean time, roll out of a few betas to fine tune the game mechanics.

If November 30 is still not enough time,
delay the game until early 2018.

Thanks,

Best regards,
DD

So, I'm a little confused. Zero is part of the base roster now or? That one gameplay trailer is what's making me ask.
Does seem to be likely.

The leaked roster had one Capcpom character listed as unconfirmed. We just assumed that it was Frank West because SneakersSO said so.

Turns out he was wrong, and it's actually Zero.

Having been a Thor main new thor is a much more viable character. Can't get my old mighty hurricane reset to work.... need training mode now.side note the actual game is very good. It looks good and plays well my only concern is some wonky movement stuff I came across trying to tiger knee mighty strike.

Yeah, it's good it doesn't take itself too seriously, at least. The last crossover I read was Secret Wars, but I did hear Civil War II was pretty damn bad. Last comic run I read was The Ultimates, and that was pretty great. I had thought CWII was just yet another bad crossover and not a quality symbol for Marvel as a whole right now. Suppose I could be wrong, I only keep up with about run at a time.

Oh, wow, I forgot about that. Welp.

(Zero is actually one of the characters I like in the VS. series though so in a way I have a reason to pick this up if I have the money lol).

Watched Max's video of the story mode. The cut-scenes actually look highly decent, much better made than SFV's. Actually looks like a professional product. Graphically the game itself looks pretty awesome to be honest, just has some oddities here and there, like a couple weird-looking faces :P

I still don't understand why these story fights only last for one round.
